My impression of him was a good one. He was very friendly and honest. He asked me alot of questions about myself and was very concerned about my life before and after the surgery. Dr. Leitman explained all of steps of the procedure and answered all of my questions, even answered the ones I couldn't get out. He put all my concerns at ease and gave alot of information to read. His assistants were very nice and helpful. Be prepare to know alittle about the surgery and the actual precedures... It's best to know what tour getting in to. He emphazies aftercare, it's best to start looking foe a nutitionist to you can have someone to discuss various plans and foods with. Dr. Lietman was very imformative about health risk and gave me ways to alleviate or decrese many risks. Over all the was VERY good!!! I belive both surgical competence an bedside mannor is VERY IMPORTANT!!
I absolutely adore Dr. Leitman! He is so caring and informative, since the first day I walked into his office for a consult, until now (4 months post op). Joan in his office is fabulous, very knowledable and helpful in getting the correct paperwork into the insurance company. There really was nothing I least liked about Dr. Leitman (except maybe he is stingy with the pain killers). Overall I would rate him 100%.....he knows I LOVE him!!! He says I will only continue to love him as I see more and more positive results.
I felt so comfortable when I first met Dr. Leitman. He is really friendly and easy to talk too. Joan, his assistant, is very nice and informative. She has answered all my questions and always returned my phone calls.
Dr. Leitman went over all my questions and concerns. He has a very caring and compassionate demeanor which made me very comfortable. He even offered me phone numbers of other patients who are within my age group so I can ask them anything I wanted. I am extremely excited about this procedure and feel much less anxiety knowing that he will be taking care of me. I will update my profile as time goes by and I have more news. Good luck to everyone. Okay I have a date now, JUNE 13th!! I just got the phone call from Joan and my insurance was approved in 1 day! I am so happy I can not wait!
Dr. Leitman was a breath of fresh air. I waited 2 1/2 weeks from the date I called until my appointment and 45 minutes in office until I saw him. He was very down to earth and sincere, yet expressed his experience, his knowledge, and opinions on WLS extremely well. His office appeared to be working like a well oiled machine, which after the unpleasant experiences with my previous surgeon, Dr. Shawn Garber, I have learned is very important. You walk out of your first consult with a surgery date - of course pending the results of an endoscopy (I had recently had one already) and your insurance approval. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I went to Dr. Garber in Great Neck first, because I thought going to the city would be a hassle. But I parted ways with him after those bad experiences(read profile for more info). From the Westbury station on the LIRR to Dr. Leitman's office door at Lenox Hill was less than one hour. Very easily accessed via public transportation. Or, I guess you can drive. He has an office in Lake Success as well, where I go for all of my post-op care. It's worth it!
I met with Dr. Leitman on March 16th. Everything I had read about this doctor was true. Dr. Leitman made you feel at ease and was more than eager to answer all my questions. He spent close to an hour with me explaining every detail about the surgery. There was no sugar coating at all. He was straight forward and honest. He gave me all the pros and cons involved. I never once felt rushed by him. His easy going personality and honesty really made me feel that I made the right choice. His office assitant Joan is a real sweetheart. She makes you feel really comfortable and is more than happy to help you with any questions you may have. I've started my pre-op consultations with the various specialists I need to see before I can schedule a date. I have my last one on March 25th. Needless to say, I can't wait till I can report a surgery date. BTW, my wife and I are expecting our first baby. Now more than ever is this surgery important to me. I really want to be able to enjoy our new baby and do all the things that I would miss out on because of my wieght.
Excellent Dr. Truly everything I have read about him and Joan was true. His waiting room was full yet he took over 45 minutes and answered all my questions. I liked the fact that he was totally honest with all of his answers. My sister came with me she is somewhat against having the surgery but even she felt at better leaving his office.
He is a friendly, kind, patient, non condescending Professional who was very detailed and up front with me about what to expect from the Open RNY.He stressed to me thats its a TOOL, not a magic bullet. His assistant Joan is an absolute ANGEL! She helped process all my paperwork in less than a month, helped me get in touch with the other physicians I wqas required to see, and stayed on top of the whole process for me thus far.....! I feel as though I will be in VERY good hands in the next few weeks.....I rate them as a "9" so far!
