I. Michael Leitman Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

I thought Dr. Leitman was very nice and seemed to really care about making sure I was overly informed. I am very confident I have made the right choice for a surgeon!

My first impression of Dr. Leitman is HE IS WONDERFUL! He didn't make feel as though I was a failure and he listened to me and NEVER spoke down to me. He gave his thoughts and together we made the decision that was best for my situation! After years of doctors blaming me for being obese, he treated me like a person. If only all Doctors could be this caring and understanding...the world would be a better and healthier place. Unfortunately, his Office Mng ; Joan was away, so I will meet her another time. He wanted me to connect with patients of his that could give me the inside scoop and welcomed me to attend his support group. He told me that he likes all his patients to plan for 4 weeks away from work, whether or not you are really gone depends on the individual. He made it known that there are risks and never rushed me to make my decision and sent me home with more info (which I added to my 400 page 3 ring binder) So far I rate him the highest poss. score...after the sx ..I'll give more info..I think that his bedside manner must be great as my first office visit. Thumbs up WAY UP!

DR. LEITMAN WAS THE SECOND SURGEON I GOT AN OPINION FROM. HE IS VERY APPROACHABLE, KIND CONSIDERATE, AND SEEMS BOTH VERY COMPETENT AND EXTREMELY PASSIONATE ABOUT HELPING OTHERS. JOAN HIS ASSISTANT IS SO KIND CARING AND RETURNS ALL CALLS WHEN SHE SAYS SHE WILL. SHE HAS BEEN TAKING A BIG PART OF GETTING MY INSURANCE APPROVAL AND KEEPS ME ABREAST OF SITUATIONS AS THEY ARRIVE. PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW THAT WHEN THEY GO TO DR. LEITMANS OFFICE THEY CAN REST ASSURED THEY WILL GO HOME WITH THEIR QUESTIONS ANSWERED. WHEN I REALIZED I STILL HAD QUESTIONS FOR DR. LEITMAN ABOUT THE SURGERY JOAN PROMPTLY SCHEDULED A TELEPHONE APPOINTMENT. DR. LEITMAN IS ALSO ACCESSIBLE BY EMAIL AS WELL. AFTER-CARE CONSISTS OF APPOINTMENTS EVERY TWO WEEKS FOR THE FIRST COUPLE OF MONTHS WITH A SUPPORT GROUP THAT HAS JUST BEEN FORMED. DR. LEITMAN ADDRESSED ALL RISKS OF THE SURGERY. AS FRIGHTENING AS SOME OF THE SIDE AFFECTS MAY SEEM DR. LEITMAN REST ASSURED ME. I FEEL VERY CONFIDENT ABOUT THE SURGERY NOW WHICH WILL HOPEFULLY TAKE PLACE ON FEB 17. I WOULD ALSO JUST LIKE TO ADD THAT I WAS GIVEN SEVERAL NUMBERS OF PATIENTS TO SPEAK WITH AND THERE COMMENTS ABOUT DR. LEITMAN AND JOAN WERE VERY POSITIVE. SURGICAL COMPETENCE AND BEDSIDE MANNER ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT AND I FEEL VERY CONFIDENT THAT I HAVE BOTH WITH DR. LEITMAN AND JOAN. 2/24 8 DAYS POST-OP GETTING BETTER WITH EACH DAY. DR.LEITMANS'S BEDSIDE MANNER WHICH I EXPECTED WAS ABOVE AND BEYOND. NOT ONLY THAT I HAD TO SPEAK WITH HIM TODAY AND MY CALL WAS RETURNED PROMPTLY BY JOAN AND THEN DR. LEITMAN. ALL QUESTIONS WERE ANSWERED WITHOUT HESITATION. I WILL UPDATE AS TIME GOES ON.

My first impression of Dr. Michael leitman was that I was going to be dealing with very caring and understanding man. He was very sensitive to my wls needs.
My impression of him only got better every time I met with him.
His assistant's name was Joan who is a complete doll. She scheduled all my pre-op tests, got me transportation to and from all of my appts. She was great also.
Just know that she will be there for you.

Dr. Leitman always checked on me to make sure everything was going as planned. Aftercare means alot to Dr. Leitman. My aftercare consisted of keeping my incision site clean and dry and not eating red meat, raw fruits or vegetable for a few weeks and to drink lots of water and take vitamins. As far as Dr. Leitman addressing the risks of surgery, he warned me of the possible risks such as: blood clots, pneumonia, incisional hernia, fevers, and infections. I would rate Dr. Leitman on a scale 1-10, a 15....LOL. This is so true. I have never met a better Doctor and I would and have recommended him to anyone who want to have surgery.He has a great bedside manner and outstanding surgical competence.

I've just seen Dr. Leitman for the first time, however I have an extensive medical history and have been a patient to literally dozens of doctors. My immediate impression of Dr. L was excellent. He has an effiecient, orderly, respectful and friendly office enviornment. Personally, he has a very human appeal with tremendous clinical knowledge, he was fully informed and responsive to all the questions I had prepared. Obviously he is very experienced in this field of medicine and in my case insisted that I slow down and consider the full range of consequences before I charge down the path I had already determined before consulting with him. He has the best long term interests of his patients at heart and not his own pocketbook. That makes him a rare find.
