My first impression was excellent as I have had heart problems in the past 2 years ago I had a triple by pass. And Dr. Reines wanted full assurance from my cardiologist that I could have this surgery. Which I hand delivered to him. He said this was exactly what he requested. And proceeded to give me my surgery date.I am still waiting for approval from my insurance company.Which is medicaid. Will update soon.
My first impression of Dr Reines was he was a compassionate man who cares about people.
My impression of Dr Reines only got better with each interaction. He loves what he does, and he loves helping his patients.
The office staff is wonderful.
Dr Reines and his staff are caring, gentle people who made me feel like I was a "normal" person.
Afercare is very important in the healing process. Dr Reines sees his patients 10 days after surgery, then 2 weeks after that, then 1 month, once you are his patient, you will be his patient for a lifetime. He has a very structured aftercare program.
When I first called to get informationa and a date for my initial visit, I was mailed information about the gastric bypass and the risks were mentioned. Also, on my initial visit, they were discussed and I watched a video.
I would rate Dr Reines and his staff a 10+.
Of course, you want a Doctor who is competent about performing surgery, that is why anyone thinking of having this done should do research. But I believe that bedside manner is extremely important. You go through a life altering surgery, you want your fears and questions answered with compassion.
What is negative about the process is the hospital bed I was in after surgery was very very uncomfortable and caused me great pain in my lower back and butt. During my first week home, I am experiencing burning and pulling sensations all over my stomach area. I later found out from another bypass patient that is normal because organs are moved and clamped during surgery.
I had a very "caring" doctor. The first impression I had of him and his staff was wonderful. They all really cared about how you were feeling. He discussed in details all about the surgery and any risk or complications there may be. I would recommend this doctor and his staff to everyone. He would be rated 10+ in both surgical competence and bedside manner.
David Reines is a caring, supportive, and honest man. A surgeon with the experience and skill to do Gastric bypass surgery. He insists on a session with his nutritionist (on staff) his psychologist (on staff) and on your attendance at one of his support group meetings prior to surgery. His nutritional counseling includes pre and post op dietary requirements, gradually adding food types and textures back into your new stomach. His support group meets one a month and both doctors, their nutritionist and their psychologist, attend every meeting. David Reines, and his partner Bruce Thayer, are both accessible, always take time to answer your questions honestly and openly, and most importantly, they also listen to you and your family's concerns both pre and post surgery. Your relationship to your surgeon will last many years. As such, I and my partner, who also had this surgery from Dr. Reines, are proud to count these two physicians in our circle of trusted advisors, and equally ready to recommend them to any and all patients who are lucky enough to be accessible to them.
