H. David Reines Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Reines is the best Bariatric Surgeon there ever was. I had my Gastric Bypass back in 1994 and have lost 210 pounds and have kept it off. I just wish he hadn't moved from the Boston, MA area to VA, but I know if I need to contact him and even just talk he will be there for me. He has the best personality as well as the knowledge which no a days is hard to find in a doctor. If you are lucky enough to have him as your physician "CONGRATULATIONS"

Dr. Reines is a great person. Terrific attitude. Very easy to talk to, fun to interact with.

My impression of Dr. Reines always remained as confident as I would have hoped. I have maintained the utmost respect for him AND his staff. They are all so incredibly professional.

On a scale of 1-10, I would give him a 10.

If I ever had to decide between surgical competence and beside manner -- well, the only choice wold be surgical competence. Dr. Reines has BOTH. He is an AWESOME person -- not just a fabulous and caring surgeon.

All you have to go on is *belief*. You have to have the ultimate faith and trust in your surgeon; and complete and total trust in their word.

Dr. Reines did not offer this surgery as a "magic bullet" or easy way out. He was very clear that this is a tool and you are expected to play your part in the game. He is not going to be able to solve all of your life's problems, just to give you a method to try to accomplish the things you need to achieve better health.

Do not go in thinking you can eat eat eat until surgery, either. If you gain weight after your consult, and before surgery, he'll cancel you. This is a joint effort -- and he HAS to know and believe that you fully understand what will be the biggest part in the play: your actions. You have the biggest impact on the success of surgery, and you have to know and remember that.

If you are uncomfortable with your choices ... then change. You do not have to accept a surgeon just because you met with them.

Dr. Reines was the second surgeon I'd met with -- and I passed on the first. I would recommend Dr. Reines without hesitation to anyone and everyone.

The follow-up care that he and has staff provide are phenomenally wonderful. They are always there for you -- any questions, concerns, problems.

I can't say enough positive things about him or his staff!

DR. REINES IS A GREAT MAN. HE TOLD ME THAT I WILL BE GETTING MY SURGERY IN SEPTEMBER. THAT I WOULD HAVE TO LOSE SOME WEIGHT. THAT UNICARE WILL NOT APPROVE THE SURGERY UNTIL I LOSE 5 TO 10 LBS. THE NEXT VISIT WITH HIM I WILL GET MY DATE. I WILL SEE HIM 8/25/04.

I really liked Dr. Reines. It took me 1 month to get in to see him. I seen him on 7/16/04. I was there all day. He told me that he would see me back in one month. He told me that I must lose 5 to 10lbs. I can do that. Then on my next appointment I would get my surgery date.

David Reines is an angel incarnate! He truly saved my life! He cares deeply about his patients and their successes are his successes. Deanna, his nurse, is a little flaky, but she, too, cares about everyone who comes in there.

Aftercare is vital. EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE! Attend his monthly support groups to keep in touch and to help others on their journey. He does not have a good psych program so personal mental service is critical. We don't just get rid of the reasons why we overeat just because we have surgery.

When the insurance turned me down, Dr. Reines went to bat for me, threatening to go to the media and sue the insurance company. When I received lousy hospital care, he was there again, making everything right. I highly recommend David Reines for anyone in the Washington DC metropolitan area.

I met with Dr. Reines on December 17th, and what a WONDERFUL man he is! I was a little shaky at first, but after talking with his staff, and watching a video, I was very comfortable. Dr. Reines was very straight and to the point, and explained everything in terms I could understand. I was very pleased with the meeting we had, and I have total trust in him! His staff was also wonderful! They all told me how important after care is...and I wasn't looked at as being "fat"! I was very impressed with everything!

30 July 03 - Met with Dr. Reines and he was so compassionate and so knowledgeable. We had a great consultation and gave me a surgery date of 03 Oct 03, but it could be moved up. Now just waiting for insurance to approve. Lena said I shouldn't have a problem. I am so happy!


Haven't met Dr. Reines yet, but I will on 30 July as that is my first appointment for a consultation. I am 5'3" and 300 pounds and I am so tired of struggling with diets and pills that don't work. I want to be able to enjoy life as a health person and do things again like go to amusement parks or shop in the misses department instead of fat land.

I met Dr. Reines during my consultation and found him to be friendly and forthcoming regarding the surgery. After a brief physical exam he spoke about the risks and benefits as well as how he thought I would do. Since I do not have physical problems (that I know of) I wanted to make sure this was going to help me not hurt me and he said it should add years to my life. He told me to come to a group session before surgery with my husband and we will. Over all I found him to be very professional. The only downside (if this can be considered a downside) is that it is all going so quickly. I'm in the process of letting all sink in.

On my first consult with Dr. Reines I was very impressed. He is very knowledgeable,, compassionate,understanding and listens to what you are saying. I am very happy that I have found such a wonderful doctor & his staff.He ephasiizes the risks of the surgery & how important the after care is.

Hi! When I met Dr. Reines, I found him very confident and informative. He was friendly, yet candid. He recently relocated from Mass to Virginia. I like Dr. Reines and his staff. They are very helpful. My next appointment is tomorrow. I will update with more information then. Hopefully, we can set a date for surgery tomorrow!
