He was really nice. It was easy to talk to him. I hardly had any questions because he told me everything. The office staff was very nice. I am very shy around unfamiliar people but I felt very at ease with them. He didn't really talk much about aftercare since I am from Douglas he just said that urged me to find a support group in my home town to work with. He stressed the risks and the video was very informative. I didn't have to wait at all to get in to see him. I called because I got lost in traffic and was going to be about 10- 15 min late and they were so nice about it. ***** 5 stars :).
MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR.HIXON WAS THAT HE WAS A VERY FRIENDLY AND COMPASSIONATE MAN THAT IS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE IN THAT WLS. HE WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND ANSWERED ALL OF MY QUESTIONED. HIS STAFF IS VERY FRIENDLY ALSO. SARAH IS THE BEST NO MATTER HOW MUCH I CALL SHE ALWAYS TALK TO ME AND NEVER ACTS AS THOUGH I AM BUGGING HER.I WOULD DEFINITELY RATE THEM AS A 10+.
TODAY I HAD MY FIRST INITIAL CONSULTATION WITH DR. HIXON AND I WAS VERY, VERY IMPRESSED WITH HIM! MY APPT. WAS @10:15 AM AND THE CONSULT WENT LIKE CLOCK WORK. HE IS A VERY NICE AND A TRUE GENUINE PERSON. I FEEL AS THOUGH I HAVE KNOWN HIM FOR A VERY LONG TIME. SOMEWHAT LIKE A BEST FRIEND. HE DIDN'T BEAT AROUND THE BUSH ABOUT THE SURGERY. HE TOLD ME ALL THE PROS AND CONS OF BARIATRIC SURGERY. EVERYTHING WAS TOLD TO ME WHERE I COULD REALLY UNDERSTAND. THE RECEPTIONIST IS VERY NICE. SHE IS VERY PATIENT WITH ALL THE PATIENTS THAT CAME INTO THE OFFICE. I COULD NOT HAVE CHOSEN A BETTER DOCTOR!! I HAD LAB TESTS DONE TODAY. SO NOW WE WILL PRESENT TO INSURANCE FOR PRE-CERTIFICATION. I AM ON MY WAY TO A NEW LIFE. I JUST WANT TO THANK MY HEAVENLY FATHER, MY LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST, FOR DR. HIXON!

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DOCTOR HIXSON IS THIS MAN KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING. I HAVE A SPINAL DIEASE CALL PSEDO TUMOR THAT IS VERY RARE, I HAVE A SHUNT FROM THE TUMOR AND BELIEVE IT HE KNOWS HOW TO OPERATE ON ME WITH THIS CONDITION THATS FABULOUS.HIS STAFF IS VERY HELPFUL. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU CALL THEY ARE NEVER NASTY TO YOU THEY ARE ALWAYS PLEASANT. WHAT DO I LEAST LIKE ABOUT HIM? NOTHING. OVERALL I RATE HIM ON A SCALE OF 1 THUR 10 HE'S A 20.
I met Dr. Hixson October 31, 2003. HE didn't keep me waiting for long maybe about 10 minutes then he came into the room, wonderful man, he answered all my questions sat down with me explained what I was getting into to, explained the risk and the pain, said he would minimize the pain as much as he could(I was glad to hear that) I even watched a video that showed (in great detail) what they did during surgery and how they did it. I then was given a booklet and inside the book it had Every question that I had asked him, so I thought that was good that he took the time to answer my questions and not just handed me a book and told me to read it like some doctors do. His staff was great. The only complaint that I have had is that when I call they hardly answer the phone and then you have to leave a message which the first one that I left they never called me back, but I do understand that the office is a busy place.
mY FIRST INPRESSION OF DR HIXON WAS OK... THIS GUY KNOWS HIS STUFF. HE EXPLAINED EVERTHING TO A T. THE OFFICE STAFF IS VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. THE THING THAT I LIKED LEAST ABOUT DR. HIXON IS HE TALKS REALY FAST. SOME THINGS WERE A LITTLE HARD TO UNDER STAND, BUT HE WILL ALWAYS REPEAT IF YOU NEED HIM TO DO SO. HE IS A VERY CHEERFUL DR. HE MADE SURE THAT I UNDERSTOOD THE PROS AND CONS OF THE SURGERY AND AFTER CARE. HE STRESSED THEM OVER AND OVER DURING MY VISIT. HE WANTED TO MAKE SURE I KNEW THAT THIS SURGERY WAS A TOOL AND NOT A CURE. I AM NOT SURE IF HE HAS A AFTERCARE PROGRAM, BUT THE HOSPITAL HE USES DOES. I WOULD RATE DR. HIXON 5 OUT OF 5 STARS. SO FAR ANYWAY. HE SEEMS TO BE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND COMPASSIONATE. HE HAS A GREAT PERSONALITY FROM WHAT I CAN TELL.
DR. HIXON WAS SO VERY NICE. I HAD ONLY MAYBE A 15 MINUTE WAIT TO SEE HIM HE DOESNT KEEP YOU WAITING LIKE ALOT OF THE OTHER DOCTORS ON HERE I HAVE READ ABOUT. HE MADE ME FEEL VERY RELAXED AND ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS.I WAS VERY IMPRESSED!TAMEKA ONE OF THE NURSES AT THE OFFICE IS GREAT. SHE ALWAYS KEEPS HER WORD AND HANDLES THINGS THERE!HE GAVE ME A BOOK AND TOLD ME TO CALL IF I HAD ANY OTHER QUESTIONS. I HAVENT HAD TO CALL BECAUSE OF THIS SITE! THE BOOK HE GAVE ME IS VERY DETAILED ABOUT WHAT TO EXPECT AND AFTERCARE. I HAD TO READ LOTH OF INFO. ABOUT THE RISKS BUT THINK OF THE RISKS OF WEIGHING 300LBS AT 5FEET 1INCH.I HOPE I WILL FEEL THE SAME AFTER SURGERY I'LL KEEP YOU POSTED!
08/01/2003 I am 5 weeks postop now. I am very happy with the fact that I chose Dr. Hixon as my surgeon. He came to see me everyday and made sure that I was fine. He reassured me that everything was going to be alright and he let me know that he was the surgeon and that I needed to trust him.
04/25/03 I have switched surgeons. I am throughly satisfied with the Dr. Hixon's capibilities as well as his personality and ofice staff. His staff was very friendly and courteous. I didn't have a long wait in the office. Even though I have already had a consult with Dr Burrowes and I feel as though I know everything there is to know about the surgery, Dr. Hixon still took his time and explained everything to me again. He even made me watch the video over again eventhough I told him that I had already seen it twice. He seems very through and he informed me that the process takes a while but his while and Dr. Burrowes while is totally different. He informed me that I should be approved by next weeks and then I could begin taking my tests and that within the next 6 weeks I should be having my surgery. I am very happy with the fact that I have changed surgeons, I don't have a bad thing to say about Dr. Burrowes, I am just happy that I have changed surgeons and he helped in the training process of my current surgeon and I feel I am in capable as well as thorough hands. I would rate my consult with DR. Hixon as a 10+.Although I haven't met Dr. Burrowes yet. I just feel as if it was divine intervention that led me to him. I was very discouraged after finding out that the doctor that I had hunted around for was no longer accepting Medicaid patients. I cried because I had been so excited upon finding out that Medicaid paid for the surgery and that there was a doctor in the Metro Atlanta area that was performing it but upon finally talking to his office and setting up my initital consult I was informed to my dismay that he no longer excepted Medicaid patients. My mother was very pessimestic when I had mentioned that I wanted to have the surgery some years ago. She met a lady at her job who had the surgery and she rushed home and told me she wanted me to have it. I talk with her co-worker and was informed of Dr. Burrowes and his wonderful staff. Then a friend that I had lost contact with call me and I was telling her that I was interested in the WLS. She told me she had did it and that her doctor and his staff was great. Guess who her doctor was. You've guessed it. Dr. Burrowes. I am very eager to meet this man whom comes so highly revered and recommended. My friends trust him with their life and I am sure I can trust him with mines.
January 11, 2003~~~I have finally met the great Celio Burrowes and I must say that my impression of him hasn't changed not one bit, I see why all of his patients swear by him, he is really an expert in what he does, I feel like I am in really capable hands. He doesn't try and convince you to have the surgery in fact he tells you that this is a life-long commitment that you have to make to your health and when you are willing to do that, that is when he will perform your surgery. He didn't have to ask me twice, I have been ready. He is very knowledgeable and he oozes compassion, he is very caring. I am ready to lay on the table, ha:) But I have now have to wait but he put all my fears aside all the while letting me know that anything can happen and I should prepare myself mentally and emotionally for the road ahead. He also really believes in aftercare and that is very good, he doesn't just do your surgery and let you go. His office staff was very nice and courteous, I didn't have to wait as long as I was prepared for, he didn't have as many patients when I went in but he did have a lot of patients when I came out. I would rate my consult as a 10 .
