Dr Hixon is awesome. Excellent bedside manner. He is never rushed and always available to answer any questions and concerns. Gladys his nurse is awesome as is the other office staff. Super friendly, very relaxed and very efficient. This office is definately a well kept secret! My experience from start to finish was awesome. It was if I was dreaming it went so smooth!
My post op experience so far as been wonderful. I had almost no post op incisional pain. Some internal pain. I came home and took pain meds for two nights and then never again! I was amazed.
DR. HIXSON I REALLY LIKE HIM. I WAS KINDA UNDECIDE ABOUT HIM. BUT AFTER GOING INTO THE OFFICE AND GETTING TO KNOW HIM AND DRILL HIM ABOUT EXPERIECE. I CAN SAY I AM COMFORTABLE WITH HIM. WENT OVER EVERYTHING THE DOS AND THE DONTS. AND HIS STAFF IS GREAT EVERY TIME I COME THEY ALWAYS PUT A SMILE ON MY FACE.
When I met Dr Hixson I was very impressed he was a very kind and caring man. He made sure I was very informed about what I was wanting to do. He answered every question I had , and most importantly he treated me as a human. I would always recommend him to anyone who needed a docter with his expertise.
His office staff is absolutely wonderful I wouldnt trade them for the world:-]. He is very concerned with aftercare he only wants what is best for his patients. Both his bedside manner and surgical competence are awesome.
When I first met DR. Hixon he eased my mind. He was so informative and answered all my questions. He is very open and honest about the procedure and I know I can call at any time and get an answer from him or his staff. The office staff is great. Pam worked very hard, 8 mths, to get me approved. Dr. H's does not offer after care such as group meetings but he does have another Dr's group that you can meet with. He does emphasize joining a group and keeping appts for aftercare with him. Dr. H eplained the procedure to me, I watched a video and we discussed the surgery and the mortaility rate. He was very open about this issue. I give Dr. H a 10+++ all the way. I feel surgical compendence is better, however w/o bedside manner I am not sure I would have confidence in a Dr. Dr. H has both. I was able to ask for diffrent meds for pain and he made sure it was taken care of immediatly. I have called and asked a question before and talked directly to the DR. for an answer and he wants to make sure you understand what he says not one to just say it and go on. He is very open to questions and your feelings..
My surgeon, Dr. Hixson, is the worst doctor, he do not care about his patience, when I had my surgery, he took so long to come by and see me, I had to pay 500.00 admin fee, when medicaid paid for the whole surgery, they told 2 days before surgery that I had to pay this fee, I had made arrangements with my job, and school, then I had to cancel surgery, because I didnt have the money, but I waited a month then gave them 460. I went back in the hospital because I was unable to digest food, something had got stuck in my throat, I still don't know, because he never came and saw me after I had scope done, to remove whatever was stuck, they didn't explain nothing to me, they just discharge me, what kind of doctor don't come and see their patient before discharge, or after surgery, to find out how they feel, he is worst doctor. This is my own true experience, with Dr. hixson, my personal feeling about how he treated me as patient.
I met with Dr. Hixon and I liked him very much. He kinda looks like Bill Cosby. I watched a video, and Dr Hixon explained all of the risk. He gave me a very large package to explain the surgery and the diet.
Dr Hixon only does open surgery but he does
do the skin reduction surgery.
His office assistant, Pam is just wonderful.
I had transferred all of my paperwork from Dr. Redman's office (a doctor I chose not to use) and Pam help to get it updated and completed. I went to have my bloodwork done. My first visit was in May 2004. Pam requested all of the files from the Dietian and the Psycologist. When all was completed, Pam submitted the paperwork to Blue Cross. In November I was approved without any problems. I was shocked.I went for the heart test and had my lungs checked. We scheduled my surgery for December. I ended up getting sick and had to postpone the
surgery until January. Blue Cross had changed the general policy and would not allow me to have the surgery. My employer stepped in and got the new approval for me.
