Dr. Ferrari and his staff and considered angels in my book. On my first consult he gave his recommendations of which procedure was best for me and expected time off from work and expected weight loss. I was given printed material that was very clear and easy to understand to follow my gastric bypass surgery. Blanca and the rest of his staff are so friendly and more than willing to help you with anything. I felt like I had known Dr. Ferrari forever when he came to see me in the hospital after the procedure was complete. He has excellent bedside manner and answers all of your questions and concerns. I developed a complication and he was right there at my side the whole time. I am in healthcare so I have higher expectations than most patients. I think Dr. Ferrari is top notch in my book! I am recommending him to all of my friends. Thank you Dr. Ferrari for all of your help.
My first impression of Dr. Ferrari is that he is quiet. He doesn't talk a lot (very straight forward). He will explain the procedure and answer any question that you have. He made me feel comfortable with my decision and after my first visit I felt as though I had nothing to worry about. His nurse, Blanca, is the best, she makes up for Dr. Ferrari quietness. After I had surgery, Dr. Ferrari made me day by visiting me each day.
My first impression of Dr. Ferrari was a good one, I think I felt the most uncomfortable as I had eaten lunch before my appointment and managed to get some on the center front of my shirt in the process (Doesn't that always happen when your wearing something white or light). Anyway I definitly felt he was pleasant and observant to recognize what he thought was nervousness when actually it was embarrassment not only of my body but the food stain. LOL
I had researched surgeons before choosing Dr. Ferrari and chose him because he's got a great history and came highly recommended from not only friends, but some doctors that I know. Upon our first visit, he seemed quiet, but competent and knowledgeable. His staff has been wonderful and very easy to get hold of when necessary.
My first impression of him was that he was a very competent surgeon and that he would be available to me whenever I needed him. His staff is outstanding! Blanca & Luli rock! I have had numerous surgeries so I know that sometimes surgeons are not "huggy/touchy/feely" types of people but are more "technical" than your PCP. I would rate Dr. Ferrari as one of the best, anywhere. I do believe that surgical competency is the MAIN objective for a fantastic outcome. A surgeon who is not the best at bedside manners can more than make it up by surrounding himself/herself with staff that makes up for that.
I really liked Dr. Ferrari. He is straightforward and took the time to answer all of my questions. Luly and Blanca are wonderful and have endured my endless phone calls and questions. Aftercare is strongly emphasized and Dr. Ferrari has a website to help surgical patients/candidates. I did ask about the risks of surgery and I felt like I was very well informed (it does help to know about different types of surgeries and have your questions ready before your appointment). I rate Dr. Ferrari and his office personnel as a 9 both have great bedside manners and I'll let you know how his surgical skills are.
UPDATE OCT 2005 I Had Great West Healthcare Insurance. Dr Ferrari participates in the One Health Plan Provider Discount. Dr Ferrari billed my insurance $8,000 for the surgery. The one health provider discount paid $1,809. to Doctor Ferrari and clearly states on my insurance copy that Member is not Liable for the rest. My surgery was in Feb 04. I was never billed from Dr Ferrari until Oct 2005. Twenty Months Later!! They billed me for the $6,209.50 that was discounted by One Health Provider. Luckily I had my copy of my insurance bill that clearly states Member is not liable. I faxed it to them and they took it off my bill. So warning to all of you keep all your records. Everything!
I met with Dr Ferrari on Nov 12, 03. My appointment was for Nov. 21,03 but they had a cancellation so I got in sooner. I really like his staff, They made me feel at ease immediately.
Dr Ferrari is very nice. He sat down and answered all of my questions. I felt very comfortable talking to him and confident of his skills as a surgeon.
He told me that I have to quit smoking and that he will do a nicotine test on me and If I don't pass he will not do the surgery. The reason for this is the risk is to high for smokers.
He did not mention any aftercare program except to talk to a nutrionist.
I would recommend patients have a list of questions to ask and not be intimidated.
I would rate Dr Ferrari an 8 for bedside manner on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being best and a 10 for surgical competence.
I have to say that Dr Ferrari went out of his way to meet me at Cypress Fairbanks Hospital when I went into Emergency. He is kind and caring and very concerned.
His staff called me a lot after I was released to check on me. I have never had a Doctors office call me so much at home concerned about me. His Nurse Blanca is a doll and I definately made the right choice in Surgeons.
I was very impressed with Dr. Ferrari at my initial appointment. He was not in a hurry and answered all of my questions.
He is a fabulous surgeon and is very committed to his patients. I give him my highest recommendation and I am very picky about doctors! In the last two years since my surgery, whenever I had questions or problems, Dr Ferrari and his staff have gone out of their way to help me.
