Dr Ferarri and his staff are absolutely wonderful. They take plenty of time to prepare you for the surgery. Whenever I'm in the office, Dr. F always asks if I have any further questions and never makes me feel like he is in a hurry to get to the next patient. I feel he is an exceptional surgeon and am very happy with having chosen him. I spent several months researching area surgeons, and truly feel he is the best. The office staff is fabulous, especially Luly. My first of impression of Dr. F. was a smiling friendly intelligent man who also possessed a no nonsense straight forward attitude. That impression has not changed. He doesn't joke around much but I have been able to get him to snicker a couple times! He was very honest regarding the risks of surgery and also spent a great deal of time explaining the surgical procedure. On my first visit, I was with either the nurse or Dr. F for a total of not less than an hour. I feel this is exceptional. The pre-op visit is very much in depth. rnThe aftercare is mainly comprised of the diet you are to follow. I haven't seen or heard about any type of support group but I haven't sought it out either. I would imagine there is probably something of that nature connected to the hospital.rnOn a scale of 1-10, I would rate him a 10 for surgical competence and a 9 on bedside manner. I would have no reservations recommending him to friends and family, and have done so already.
Dr. Ferrari was very kind and understood my need for a healthier life. His staff was easy to talk to and many had been in my place at one time. Dr. Ferrari was very detailed in the risks and benefits of having gastric bypass surgery, but at the same time, he stressed that surgery was a 'tool'. His surgical skills were excellent and his bed side manner the same. I would recommend Dr. Ferrari to anyone looking for a great surgeon. The only negative I could think of was the waiting in his office, but even then it gave the opportunity to talk to other patients who had had surgery or were in the process of getting surgery.
I was referred to Dr. Ferrari by Dr. Wongsa, who after retiring, turned over all his patients to Dr. Ferrari. I was very pleased after our first meeting. I felt very comfortable right away with Dr. Ferrari. He seems very confident in what he does and was extremely patient and willing to answer any and all questions I had. He went over everything and made sure I knew that I could take this as far as I wanted! He said I can reach my goal weight of 135 or 140 - it just depends on how hard I work, but yes, it can DEFINITELY be done! My surgery is in one week and 3 days! I can't wait! Also, through the last few months, while waiting for the insurance approval, I ended up having a few gall bladder attacks. The doctor has always called me immediately (since they always occur in the middle of the night) and his staff always checks on my first thing the next morning. Luckily, we have been able to wait and he will remove my gall bladder when he does my gastric bypass surgery next Monday!
My first impression of Dr. Carlos Ferrari was that he was very \"to the point.\" He took time and visited with me with my husband present and thoroughly went over the surgery I was interesed in (RNY). We discussed risks and complications. He told me that he did surgery on his own daughter. He told me that he hadn't had a patient with a leak in almost 3 years. And his staff had informed me that his mortality rate is 0. His staff was very friendly and VERY organized. I feel very comfortable with him doing my surgery.
My surgeon is the best! He has been doing bariatric surgery for quite a while and is very experienced. He does not take any chances and I heard from several people during pre-op testing that he always ask for a lot of tests. This is just so that he can ensure he is setup for the best surgery possible and for this, I am thankful. rnrnHe is a very kind man and funny too. I would rate him a PERFECT 10.
I finally have decided on Dr. Ferrari. It took me forever to really settle down with a doc but I feel finally that he is the one for me. His office has been great with helping hunt down records and pushing my PCP to get her act together and submit!rnAnywho, we are just waiting on those particular records and then we will submit!
