Changed To Dr. Andrew DeWitt after an unpleasant expericence with Dr. Gregory Adams. I'm very pleased with Dr. DeWitt so far, will update more info on him after surgery.rnrnI would highly recommend Dr. DeWitt to anyone. Hes wonderful. Great personality, easy to talk to, and very knowledgeable. I had absolutely no complications. Had surgery on Monday, home on Wednesday, and then back to work on the next Monday. Not much pain even on the second day. If you follow his directions to a tee you will have no problems. Go see this Man!!!

Dr. DeWitt always seems pleasant and understanding. During the initial obesity seminar he clearly describes the procedure and aftercare and answers any questions. Carraway Hospital has a great program for bariatric patients before, during, and after the surgery. If you don't feel informed after all of their training then you weren't paying attention. rnrnThe bariatric coordinator, Stefanie Dutton, who works with Dr. DeWitt is wonderful. She came by the hospital and talked to me for half an hour before I went to the OR. I needed this support since all my fears and doubts were overwhelming me the morning of surgery until Stefanie arrived. If you call her and she is out of her office she will return you call promptly. Stefanie had RNY 3 years ago so she has been through it herself. She can understand what we are going through and can give advice that is more meaningful than it would be from someone who has never been overweight themselves. rnrnDuring my hospital stay I didn't see Dr. DeWitt himself very much, I saw more of his residents. But I understand he is busy. I don't know how he maintains his hectic schedule without collapsing. But even though he is busy, when he is talking to you he doesn't seem rushed. He pays attention to you and seems very relaxed. rnrnI haven't had a reason to test this yet, thank God, but I was told Dr. DeWitt answers all of his pages himself. Even if he isn't on call he wants to talk to his patients instead of receiving the information secondhand. I like that level of support and dedication. rnrnHis nurse and staff are wonderful. I have only had good experiences with everyone. I worked with the insurance department at Dr. DeWitt's office for a year to get approval. They made me feel like they were an advocate for me against the insurance company. If not for this support, I may not of been able to have the surgery. rnrnDon't be in a hurry when you have an appointment with Dr. DeWitt because you will be there for a while.

'My first impression of Dr. DeWitt was a good one. He seemed both caring and concerned at his seminar. After the very first visit to his office

1. He is really nice and cares a great deal.
2. My impressions have only gotten better.
3.The office staff is amazing, they are sensitive, nice, and understanding.
4. Nothing.
5. In my opinion he's the best!!!!!
6. Strongly, they have support groups and a barratric coordinator who's been there and done that.
7. Yes, a great one .
8. Through the seminar and answering questions no matter how many you have.
9. On a scale of 1 to 20, he's the perfect 20.
10. Both are great and Dr. DeWitt and his staff have them.
11. The only negative thing I would say was that the Hospital will only do surgery once all fees have been paid in full, for some that is really hard, I thank God for my mom and dad.

First impression: Excellent. Caring, patient with questions, very frank about risks. Emphasizes aftercare for best chance of success. Open about his personal statistics with complications/mortality. At some appointments there was a very long wait. I assume this is a combination of overbooking and a complicated and sometimes unpredictable general internal surgery schedule. In the year I have been seeing him, the wait time has been reduced greatly, even running ahead. Regardless, HE'S WORTH THE WAIT.

Impression over time? Still excellent. Very thorough and careful. Very patient and caring, with a great sense of humor.

Office staff: Remarkable! Excellent!

Like least? Sometimes the wait is a pain, but I see that as a hazard of a busy general surgical practice. He's not running a WLS mill, that's for sure!

What should future patients know: You're in good hands with DeWitt & his staff.

Aftercare: Strongly emphasized! Carraway has a bariatric coordinator who works closely with DeWitt's patients, and they have support meetings monthly in addition to other activities and online contact.

How did he address risks: He was open & frank about the risks, nothing sugar coated, both in general, and particular to my health & family history.

Overall rating: 10+++!

Surgical Competence or Bedside Manner Better? Both equally great.

To be honest, I was scared of him on my first visit. But he was open, honest and easy to talk to about anything.

I'm thankful that he is straight up about everything. Instead of doctors easing about sensitive areas, he goes for it right away. This tells me that he wants the best for his patients and that is 100% Fine with me.

The office is clean and very roomy. The staff is very supportive and quick to respond to phone calls and questions. I'm thankful for this in such a busy world today.

Before you leave the hospital, he tells you that he wants you working up to 1 hour of exercise daily. That is understand before you leave.

He does stress the risks before the surgery but he helped calm my fears and I'm thankful that he covered everything from top to bottom. No question was left under any rock.

I would rate Dr. Dewitt's office and Dr. Dewitt AAAAAAA+++. I would recommend him to anyone who was inquiring of the gastric bypass surgery.

Both are great, but the bedside manner is the most important to me. I am putting my life in my doctor's hands and I want to have the most perfect relationship with my doctor one on one and to know that he is concerned about every little detail is a super big PLUS to me.

Dr. Dewitt and his staff are wonderful. They took me in when my previous surgeon stopped doing the surgeries because BC/BS is such a pain. He has a great bedside manner and is willing to answer any questions you have. Totally supportive - even for a big baby like me.

I have renamed Dr. Dewitt as Dr. Dimwit!

Dr. Andrew DeWitt, I can tell you that I would not use another surgeon in the state to do any type of surgery on me or my family. Dr. DeWitt does not see your body type, he sees you as a person who wants to overcome the issue of weight. He spends time getting to know what you and your family's concerns are and works very closely with you to make sure you are comfortable and ready for the procedure. I am now 42 days post-op and am able to contact his office at anytime to get any information I may need. His staff cares as much as he does. They know me by name and face and are willing to help me as much as possible. I have not found anything to complain about with Dr. DeWitt as a doctor or an upstanding person.

One of the best things about Dr. DeWitt's WLS program is the bariatric coordinator that works with Carraway Medical Center. She is there the day of the surgery to see you before the surgery (she met my dh and I at 5:30am day of surgery) and she follows you through your stay at CMMC and post-op. I can contact her at anytime w/ any questions I may have and she calls back promptly.

I would recommend Dr. DeWitt for any surgery. He has performed both an umbilical hyrnia repair and Lap RNY...and if I have to have any other surgeries, he will do them!
