I have had two visits with Dr Naaman. I found him to be very forthwright. My first visit was very short. Told me to walk because he wouldn't do surgery until I could walk up to 5 minutes at a time several times a day. My second visit he spent about 20 minutes with me discussing the surgery and answering the questions I had. He is very serious about you obeying his instructions and doing as you are told in this procedure. It is to dangerous for you to waste your time and his if your not going to do what is right.
I found his staff very pleasant. When ever I have called with questions they have always done their best to answer them right away or to back to me within 24 hours.
I am looking forward to being able to schedule my surgery as soon as I get rid of this stomach bacteria.
HAVE NOT SEEN HIM YET 05/27/03 WILL BE MY FIRST VISIT. I FOUND HIM THROUGH OUR INSURANCE PROVIDER WHICH IS FEDERAL BC/BS. I PHONED THE INS. CO. TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE COVERAGE FOR THIS TYPE SURGERY. THE INSURANCE CO. WAS VERY HELPFUL TOLD ME WHAT THEY WOULD COVER AND DOCTORS IN THE AREA THAT THEY COVERED.
Did not see the surgeon in San Antonio on 5/27/03 he is out on sick leave.
Will be seeing Dr. J. in Houston on 7/3/03 for first time.
Finally seen by a doctor. Myself and my husband are seeing and will be having surgery by Dr.Naaman. He and staff all seem very nice and carring.
My fisr impression of Dr. Naaman was he was a reserved and very nice man. My first appt was very short. He gave me a booklet describing the surgery and sent me home to get things ok'ed by my Insurance company.
I learned throughout my experience with him that he is a very strict Surgeon in all aspects- with his patients, nurses etc- everyone. He has a way that he does things and will not waver from that. I respect that about him. I think that is what has made him the successful surgeon he is today.
His office and staff are very HELPFUL and professional! There wasnt anything that I did not like about any of them.
You should know beforehand that Dr. Naaman has strict rules and that he has them for a reason. I think anyone who has their own agenda in mind (own plan, rules etc..) and wants to be pampered and coddled should find another surgeon.
The aftercare program is very structured. Only liquids for 1 week, and you add just cream soups etc after the first week. It isnt until 6 weeks that you begin eating solid foods. I think this is part of the reason for his success rate in patients. It is tough, but worth it.
I found Dr. Naaman's bed side manner to be friendly and concerned for my well being.
His surgical competence was off the charts!
I give Him and his staff a 10!
In my opinion and from my experience, Dr. Naaman is a wonderful and skilled surgeon. I trust him completely. I felt at ease in his office and with his staff. I am glad he is my surgeon. I had my surgery 9/20/2002 and it went smoothly and I feel great. I really liked PAM (RN). Someone else said it best, she is the glue that holds it all together (paraphrased of course). Amanda is very helpful as is Bernice. The other office members are not as helpful. I will leave it at that. Oh well, Dr. Naaman is excellent. :)
July 2003 I am now 10 months out and I am a little disappointed in Dr. Naaman's after care. The office messed up on my six month check up and I did not get in until 10 months (and I had to call them to find out why they never sent me the check up card). At the three month and 10 month check up, I did not get to see Dr. Naaman, I saw a PA (or nurse). I now feel that Dr. Naaman just does the surgery and lets you be. As I said I am disappointed. I would like to see a surgeon for my follow-ups, but maybe that is just me. When I went in today, they said, "Ok You are done." I said, "no, I want to come again at one year post-op." They said ok, we will make you an appointment for July 2004. I said, no, my one year is September 2003. This was hard for them to understand. Since they missed my six month checkup, and I came in, in July, they didn't think I needed to come in again.I finally convinced them to see me in October. I am not sure who I will go to for my six month or yearly follow ups once my year is up. I guess it will not be Dr. Naaman's office.
