My first impression of Dr. Naaman is that he was very to the point and seemed to respect the fact that I knew what I was doing and had already researched the surgery. He started to explain it all and when he saw that I knew it - he just asked if I had any questions and that was it.
The office staff has been VERY helpful!!

Dr. Naaman has been great so far. His staff is awesome!!! He is very straight forward and to the point. He was ready to answer all questions and he talked me thru a pamphlet about the surgery and we discussed the diet he requires post op. I feel comfortable with Dr Naaman and his staff. There was some hold up the day of my appointment because he had a patient go to the emergency room, but after a short delay I was seen. I understand though, because after my surgery I hope that if I need to visit the ER he would place me as high priority and I feel those it may delay will understand because they too may be in that situation.

I have an appointment July 15, 2003.
7/15/03 I saw Dr Naaman today. I liked him very much. He was laid back. Asked if I had questions, which I did. I feel he answered them honestly (even the hard questions about how many deaths have occured,..5..out of 500+++) and I feel that he CARES about his patients...I saw it in his eyes when I asked him this. I will have an open RNY as I had prolene mesh placed in my abdominal wall during an incisional hernia repair from my first c-section. He feels there will be many adhesions from this mesh that are attached to the small bowel, requiring an open procedure to be able to get enough bowel loose to do the RNY. I figured this would probably be the case but held a small hope for lap. Either way, I feel comfortable with his surgical skills. He routinely checks for H. Pylori (bacteria that cause ulcers) before surgery. He says that this bacteria will contribute to stomal stenosis in the long run. Makes since to me (I teach people how to take the medicine to kill the bacteria and about the bacteria itself.) Adriene (sp?) who answers the phone is so sweet, very nice everytime I called. Amanda was very good at explained the time line and order of events. Pam (nurse) was wonderful and down to earth, good since of humor. They had large gowns, YEAH! Finally! ...and chairs with and WITHOUT arms in the waiting room...I got there about an hour early and was called back about 5 min after getting there (that is unheard of right). I'm impressed.

Dr. Naaman is very straight forward/no nonsense. If you're looking for warm and cuddly, that's not him. But that's not what I was looking for. He answered all my questions, and made sure that he had all the necessary information. His staff is very professional and throughly explained all procedures. He does expect 100% commitment from his patients (and actually made me sign an agreement to abide by his diet and exercise program--talk about motivation). All in all, I would highly recommend him to anyone.

He and his office staff is wonderful. I wish I would have begun my process with them back in Jan.

My first impression of Dr. Naaman was pretty much as I had read in all the other profiles. He was quick and to the point. He didn't really spend much time with me and didn't really speak much about aftercare. On the day of my pre-op testing, I was in Dr. Naaman's office. He walked by all of his employees and said "good morning". Since I didn't respond, he snuck up behind me and very kindly said "good morning to you also". I thought that was an extra sweet thing. He wasn't cold at all like some say!

I'll say more about him after surgery. His office staff was phenominal. Each and every one of them were as sweet as they could be. And they were totally willing to answer any and all my questions. Bernice was especially helpful and informative about my insurance situation.

Today, June 24, 2003, I had my first consultation with Dr. Naaman. (I have had two prior consultations with other surgeons and had not found the "right one" for me yet.) I NOW HAVE FOUND THE SURGEON FOR ME! Dr. Naaman is competent, confident, to the point, and patient with answering questions. Yes, he is strict with his expectations (exercise, follow the diet HE gives, stay in Houston) but he has solid reasons for all of those expectations and they are based on SOLID EXPERIENCE. I haven't experienced the aftercare life yet, but will post about that later. His competence strikes me as more outstanding than his bedside manners, but frankly, I don't think anyone ever died from their surgeon not smiling at them!!

His office staff is......incredible (for lack of a better word!) They are organized, efficient, warm, caring, HUMANS. Pam, Amanda, Benice, and Julius each know their part in the "orientation" process and together function as a well oiled machine (but much more personable!!!) I was especially appreciative of Bernice, the office manager. She was able to give a clear financial picture and was prepared by knowing about my insurance plan ahead of time. She had tips to assist us in being sure our insurance needs were met, also. I didn't find this at any of the other consultations I previously attended. Thanks, Bernie!

Dr. Naaman and his staff get an A+ from this retired teacher!

I had my first visit to the office and I was very impressed with the staff. I’m my opinion is that the staff is a direct reflection on the surgeon. When I met with Dr. Naaman he was very professional and straight to business. He gave me the fact very bluntly and did not sugar coat (no pun intended) anything. I felt very confident that I made the right choice.

Great guy. Very funny and easy going. He takes the time to explain things and gives an opportunity for all the hundreds of questions.

I have had my first appointment with Dr. Naaman, he seems to be very professional. The office staff is very regimented but courteous. Had my pre-op with Naaman's Nurse it went well. I am surprised that they don't want you to have protein shakes...a lot of docs really push protein, oh well I guess he knows best.
