The more you get to know Dr. Naaman the more you grow to love him, and his staff.
He is very direct, that is what I needed. He just kept it simple. He gave me very little instruction (3 things), so when he talked , I listened. He kept it simple !!!!!!!
When your in a fog and changing your life it needs to be that way.
He is kind, and many times told me to honor my body and listen to what IT says, WOW what a concept. I am 4 days post op and learnning from him to be kind to myself. After all haven't we been beaten up enough? Thanks Doc

Dr. Naaman is a mater of fact kind of Doctor. He is a little reserved, but extremely up front about what is expected to be done. His office staff and PA are the ones that run the show while he works his talents in the operating room. His aftercare program is strict and he is adament about following it.I am very pleased with the whole office to date and would very highly recommend them to anyone considering this surgery in the future.

I liked Dr. Naaman on sight. The man struck me as being ultimately confident in his ability as a surgeon. My impression of him has not changed since that first meeting. His office staff is pleasant and willing to take that extra step to help you out. Dr Naaman emphasisis the importance of his aftercare program and lays out what he expects you to do right up front. He did not downplay any of the risks of the surgery. I don't imagine Dr Naaman as having the kind of bedside manner that will leave you with the warm fuzzies. This is fine with me, I'm not looking to be coddled, I'm looking for a more than competent surgeon.

My visit with Dr. Naaman was brief. My discussions with his staff were much more extensive. Living in the DFW metroplex in TX, it might seem strange that I have chosen a doctor in Houston. However, I did so for several reasons. First, the type of procedure he performs. I am having the lap RNY instead of open, which allows me to heal much faster, which was something I was particularly looking for. Many doctors in my area only perform open.

Second, he is an in-network provider for my insurance. I had researched, interviewed and completed the appeals process, gaining approval, to have the procedure performed by Dr. Julie Leverton at BTC in Wylie, TX. Though I was worried about her age and amount of experience, I felt that her credentials were solid and that an RNY-only facility very near my home was quite attractive. However, as I spent more than 6 months in the appeals process, I came to feel, in my personal opinion, that BTC operates like the corporation it is, without the development of a personal relationship with me, the patient. I did not feel comfortable dealing with only an 800# or with the responsiveness of my particular contact. Regardless, I did not restart the search for a surgeon until after I found out that Dr. Leverton was not covered at the time as in-network by my insurance. I knew better than to work under the assumption that she was, and did not perform the due diligence I should have. Therefore, it is no one's fault but my own. But, at the end of the day, I could not afford to pay out-of-pocket starting at $16,000 vs. the $2500 out-of-pocket maximum for an in-network surgeon.

Finally, and most important of all the reasons, Dr. Naaman's whole package is what I feel I need. His philosophy is sound: do what I tell you to or you can die. This is not without its risks, but he has many measures in place to mitigate those risks. His credentials are impressive, his staff knowledgable and supportive, the facilities modern and technologically up-to-date. His demeanor is serious and straightforward; his staff assures me that he becomes more familiar throughout the long relationship. They, in the meantime, serve as a font of information, a listening ear and a friendly voice.

I have no delusions about the surgery. I know there are serious risks and potential complications. However, for me, it is smart to choose someone you feel will be the best asset to you in reaping the benefits of the procedure while lessening the dangers. I feel that Dr. Naaman fulfills this criteria. I hope that the surgeon you pick gives you the same feeling of confidence, for that is the most they can do for us...the rest is up to us!!!

I met with Dr Naaman on Jan. 28, 2003. My first impression of him was that he was soft spoken. He answered all of my questions, and went over the surgery in detail with me. I have read many things about Dr. Naaman and I really think he is going to be an excellent choice for me.
Dr. Naaman's office staff was wonderful. Pam was very helpful in telling me what to expect after surgery. Things that I could and could not eat. I will have to be staying in the area because I live quiet a ways from the hospital, and they were helpful in helping me choose one.
Before I got in to see Dr Naaman, I had to make so many phone calls, I'm sure they were tired of me calling, but they were always very helpful.
Dr Naaman will be seeing you for about three years after you have your surgery, and I think that is wonderful, I would not want a doctor that just did my surgery and never saw me again.
Dr Naaman went over all of the risks, which I already knew. He was very though.
I would rate Dr Naaman very high overall. I think he was great.
I believe that Dr Naaman is surgically competent and I believe he has good bedside manners also.

Dr. Naaman was great. My first consultation was cut short. I personally was not prepared with questions. Dr. Naaman gave me a quick overview of the surgery and a pamlet to take home and review. I do wish that this first visit was more informative. However, at the second consultation Dr. Naaman went over everything in more detail. For example, the special post op diet that I would have to follow and estimated surgery costs. The office staff was very professional and caring. Giving each person well wishes and personal attention. So far, I would rate Dr. Naaman and his staff an 8.

9/5/02 Saw Dr Adam Naaman today,I will need to see a Cardiologist to get approval for surgery I will also need to start walking now to build up myself before he will do the surgery. He is very serious about his patients being commited to following his instructions to the letter or he won't do the surgery.

I was very impressed with him. He took the time to sit and talk...very important! He made sure that I knew everything I wanted to know and then some before I left. His nurse Pam, was so sweet and also stayed in the room with me to talk further about the proceedure. They called my nerves knowing that I had already gone through almost 3 months of disappointment. After the consult I was sent out to meet Amanda, she schedules the surgery and she is great, she's energetic and very much on top of things I like people like that because I am the same way. She then took me to meet Bernice, she handles the insurance. She too, was on top of everything. So My experience with everything at this point has been very good. I will update after my hospital stay.

Just called Dr. Naaman's office and was told I need to get the following information before I can make the consultation appointment:
* 5 year weight history
* Letter of recommendation from a doctor
* Referral from PCP(primary care physician)
* 2 medically supervised diets (one from the past and one current)
