Today I met Dr. Fedorak for my initial consult - and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I arrived about 20 minutes early, yet I was immediately greeted in the office, and all the preliminaries were completed prior to being told to take a seat. Then, I waited less than 2 minutes before being called. Jody finished up the paperwork, explained the insurance and program process, weighed me, and took me to a patient room. Dr. Fedorak was prompt and my appointment began on time - which was a pleasant surprise.rnrnI was immediately put at ease by Dr. Fedorak's matter of fact discussion about obesity. I felt as if I were being treated for a valid medical issue throughout my appointment. I especially appreciated his willingness to discuss his own record of surgeries with me. One of Dr. Fedorak's last statements to me was that I should only choose to have surgery if it is spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically appropriate to me. rnrnJust me. Not what someone else thinks or feels. I walked away knowing that I do want surgery - and I want Dr. Fedorak to be the one conducting it.
Dr. Fisher is such a wonderful person. He holds his patients well being as his highest priority and truly cares.
'I met with Dr. Fedorak for the first time today and I was extremely impressed. He spent over an hour on my consultation and he spent as much time asking questions and listening as he did talking. This was so refreshing because too many doctor's do not listen to their patients. He was very personable but also very professional and knowledgeable. He was very open and honest about the risks of the surgery and his practices results
Dr. Fedorak is the best!!! I found him to be reassuring, comforting, positive and supportive. Since my surgery 4 months ago, I have always found him to be one of my biggest fans. He is always happy for my success. The program at Penrose is top notch and one of the main reasons for the success is Dr. Fedorak. The presurgical care, the surgery itself and the post surgical care have been outstanding. I have never once felt that my concerns were silly or a waste of the staff's time.
My one negative, and this is minor, is that sometimes his office gets a bit backed up and that makes asking for advice difficult.
Overall, Dr. Fedorak is my idea of the perfect doctor.
I am extremly pleased with Dr. Fedorak. He is a wonderful surgeon. He is a very caring doctor and very patient and very understanding. When you go into see him you do not feel rushed and you feel like you can ask him absolutley anything. He has the best bedside manner in the world. I would reccommend him to anyone looking to have this surgery.
Well, I have only had my initial visit with him, but first of all, he seems genuine. The meeting wasn't a typical doctor's meeting. He was very thorough in helping me to understand the importance of being ready for the life-altering event. He is friendly, and what I have found out from his patients, his bed-side manner is awesome.
As for the office staff, his "front" woman is not friendly and really doesn't have what it takes to deal with the obese patients that go in there. We don't need to be treated special, but have a little heart and help us understand a little better what is going to be needed of us. In my case, she actually laughed while I was on the phone with her because I didn't understand something. She acted like I should already know it and made me feel like an imbecil .
Dr Fedorak impressed me with his warmth and sincerity. He talked to me privately about the possible complications, both physical and mental. I was assured that he see's performing this surgery as the most rewarding thing he is able to do for his patients. His office staff appeared efficient and competent. There appears to be a great aftercare program that includes seeing nutritionist for a year following surgery. This leads me to the thing I liked least about his office. Everyone must pay $750 up front for the nutritionist and the initial psych eval. I imagine they feel that once you've paid you will be more apt to follow up with the follow up. I'd rank him a 10 out of 10 so far. Pre bed side manner is excellent, his stats are excellent, we'll see about post op soon I hope.
Dr Fisher is a very young doctor - everyone always says that... but it is true... I have looked for the gray hair and have not been able to find any ;-). He is also very easy to talk to and genuinly cares about his patients. My husband had GBS last year with Dr Fisher... I thought he was great then... but I think he is even better now as I get to work with him for my own surgery!
The whole CSSA program is very structured as far as making sure people are ready to have the surgery and that they make good choices afterwards. They require you to go through a year long program after the surgery with a nutritionist... they are all great and very helpful. This does not guarentee success... because if you really want to fail, you will... but it does help!
