Voravit Wongsa Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Dr. Wongsa is an excellent surgeon. He was very direct with the facts and the risks of the surgery. He has a temper if you do not do your part. If you do exactly as you are supposed to he is very nice. If you do not eat exactly as he says you will get screamed at severely. He does not play around. He is very serious and wants you to loose the weight. He usually makes you loose weight before you can have the surgery. He is a tough old bird but has excellent surgical skills. I would recommend him but only is you are ready to do your part. And just know your part is not always an easy journey. There are very tough days but in the end it will be worth it. His staff is great. they are never anything but professional and easger to help. I love all of his nurses and office ladies.

I had how many felt about Dr.Wongsa on this site and most of them said how he has no sense of humor and hes very strict. He was very nice but like they have said very strict. He said I had to lose 20-25 pounds in a month or 2 and stay on a very strict diet of lean meats and green veggies. I like him because he is concerned about you having this surgery and he tells you up front what to expect and what kind happen it worse comes to worse. I liked him alot I feel very confident about him doing my surgery. His staff was so sweet and understanding. I would suggest Dr.Wongsa to anyone but if you want to go to him be prepared cause he likes things to go just right so he stays on you to make sure you doing things right hes a very strict doctors and he may seem mean to some but it just showed me how much he cares for his patients and he wants nothing to go wrong and for everything to turn out good for his patients. On a scale for 1-10 I give Dr.Wongsa a 10!

I originally chose Dr. Ferrari but Neweigh didn't think I weighed enough to go see him, I don't understand them, I guess if I was so big I wouldn't fit in a chair they would say I could. I have changed to Dr. Wongsa bcause I have met people who are on the "smaller side" that he did this surgery on. I don't want to wait till I can't breathe or move to do something about my weight... Keeping my fingers crossed I met Dr. Wongsa on 12-21-01 I met Dr. Wongsa yesterday & I liked him.. he is very thorough & answers all of your questions.... I love Dr. Wongsa, God has truly blessed this man with a gift to help others! My surgery day has come & gone & I haven't had a single problem, it was easier than I thought it would be. I made an excellent decision & would recommend anyone looking into this to see him. He is an awesome Dr. & if I had to do this all over I would in an instant.. NO REGRETS at all!! I just love him more & more as time passes

Dr Wongsa is a truly blessed man. At first visit with him I didn't think he was very friendly but he was very professional and knowledgable. Very straight foward. I did not see Dr. Wongsa again until the day of the sugery. This day he was a little more friendly and most of all he made me feel at ease and comfortable... I was never afraid of putting my life in his hands because he was so professional. His staff is WONDERFUL!! As far as after care, he explains the inportance but Dede, from his office is really the one that talked to me about this... and she is great.

Overall I think Dr. Wongsa is great, and I would recomend him to anyone....

Dr. Wongsa first made me feel as though I did not meet his criteria or standards for him to perform my surgery. I felt the first meeting was a negative experience and made me feel worse about my self.
Post-op, I hit a plateau after 5 weeks and already felt like a huge failure. Dr. Wongsa drove it home to me every weigh-in that my efforts and weight loss were mediocre and he should have reconsidered doing my surgery.
Dr. Wongsa examined my incisions and belly the first two visits Post-Op. The remainging visits/weigh-in were TORTURE! He TORTURED me with his negativity, bullying manner.
Well, Doc, look at me now....13 months Post Op and I've lost 138 Pounds! You may go eat worms!!
I look and feel great.

I liked Dr. W from the beginning. He is very straight when talking about the surgery, told me of the risks as well as the side effects. His bedside manner is good-he answered all of my questions when I asked them. His staff is wonderful-thank you Jackie! Very helpful & friendly. I was slightly disappointed that Dr. Wongsa didn't recommend aftercare groups or counseling but it didn't occur to me to ask either. He may give referrals if you ask-I just didn't think about it at the time. Cypress-Fairbanks hospital is the greatest! Great staff, got help when I asked for it & everybody was friendly right up to the point of my going home.

I really liked meeting with Dr. Wongsa. It was a real wake up call as I sat in his office and he told me I needed more discipline. He seemed real hard core, but I guess you have to be. Second time back, trying to get approved 6 months later, I am happier with the office staff. First time around took forever to get information out to find out I would be denied =0(. I do not think they have an after care program. I will have my surgery in April, so I really don't know. Dr. Wongsa made it VERY clear that as with other surgeries I could DIE fron this one. Pretty scary!

He is a very upfront doctor, which I really like. His diet and goals seem to be attainable. We'll see how I feel about everything once my surgery is completed.

I have my first consultation with Dr. Wongsa 03-10-03. my origianl consultation was for 04-04-03. Either someone canceld or Karen is just absolutely GREAT!!!

Dr. Wongsa has a stern facade which gives way to a man with a sense of humor and one who truly seems to enjoy what he does. Don't get me wrong, I certainly don't want to get him aggrevated with me.
Surgical skill: Awesome! I had 6 puncture sites, no leakage, no infection.
He will go over all your questions and does not rush you out. His program is strict 1/2 ounce 3 x day lean meat and vegetable, all clear liquids you want.
Office has nothing in writting for new post ops. I believe it's because they treat each person as an individual who needs a specialized plan.
I have gladly recommened Dr. Wongsa to many of my friends. He saved my life.
