Dr Wongsa is a very good doctor. I found him to be a little firm but it is for the best interest of the patient. You must be serious about your weight loss and follow his instructions. His staf is very helpful and very pleasant. I like the fact that they have also had the procedure done and know what the patients are going through. His aftercare program is structured with regular office visits and blood work checks. He fully explained all the risks involved and had a very good bedside manner.

When I first met Dr. Wonza, I felt he was direct and to the point. He explianed the
surgery process and I felt very confident.

I know of several people that have used Dr. Wongsa and have researched him and felt total comfort in his abilities. I was somewhat nervous because others stated he is "to the point", period. In my opion he was very knowledgable and answered all of my questions to my satisfaction. UPDATE: I had my surgery on 2/21 and I can say that Dr. Wongsa was super and his bed side manners were great. Dee (his nurse) assisted him with surgery and followed up with me after. She is so sweet and was extremely professional. DR. WONGSA AND HIS STAFF DESEREVE 5 STARS ~~ THEY ARE AWESOME!~ I haven't experienced an negatives yet, but will be sure to update if I do ~~

I didn't realize he does have a since of humor but he is very serious about this surgery which is a good thing.
After getting to know him I realized he is a little more personal than I realized.
His nurse Dee is super and he has a great lady that talks to you when you weigh in about what to do and not to do.
Nothing I really didn't like about him.
His aftercare is very basic and very structured.
He goes through everything and tells you how serious this is. Of course than I had questions for him about how many patients he had lost etc. He is a very serious doctor and I hear he is very picky about the actually surgery.

He was an excellent doctor. His surgical competence is great bedside manner okay but better after you get to know him.

Dr. Wongsa is great! I was worried for my first visit as I had heard stories about him yelling and degrading people, but my first visit went great. He said he didn't want to operate on me since I was exactly at 100 pounds overweight - but he would go ahead since I had medical problems as well. His office staff is great! Jackie had the surgery herself - so she is a great source of information and her personality is so nice!
I had some minor complications in the hours right after surgery, and Dr. Wongsa came to the hospital at 2a.m. to check on me. He called my husband to let him know the situation and everything. I feel he really cares about his patients. He is a great surgeon - I couldn't be happier with the results and I have reccomended him many times since my surgery and will continue to do so!

<font face="arial" size="3"><font color=”#000000”>Had my initial consultation with Dr. Wongsa on 6-30-03. I have to say that I very much liked Dr. Wongsa. I already knew much about him from my research here and from my friend who had her WLS surgery performed by him. Dr. Wongsa was frank and to the point making sure I understood everything. I have been researching WLS for over 6 months, so I did not have many questions for Dr. Wongsa. I was impressed with his office staff. Jackie had WLS three years ago, performed by Dr. Wongsa. SHE LOOKS AWESOME! Dee was great too. Overall, my initial consultation was a pleasant experience. Will update more as the process progresses.

I had heard wonderful things about Dr.Wongsa. I had seen the results first hand as my sister had used him and she had no complications and lost all her weight in 9 months. She had warned me that he expects complete compliance. I live 4 hours from Houston but after investigating my options I decided that Dr.Wongsa was well worth the trip. I was very surprised after my first visit because I expected Dr.Wongsa not to be as friendly and likable as he is. I expected him to be all business. I am an RN so I see great bedside manners and poor skill and also great skill and poor bedside manner so I really could care less how nice a doctor is. I am not there to make friends. I care about living a better life and having gastric bypass surgery with as little of complications as possible. I found with Dr.Wongsa that he has excellent skills and I trusted him fully. I am 3 weeks post op now and I have had no complications. It was a breeze. I forget that I have even had surgery sometimes. Jackie, Dr.Wongsa nurse has been very helpful in explaining what to expect each step of the way. I rate Dr.Wongsa a 10/10.

Dr. Wongsa was very profesional during my first visit. As I got to know him he seemed to loosen up a bit. His office staff are great. What I liked least about the doctor was his intimidating nature. Future pts should know that Dr. Wongsa comes highly recommended. His pts have a very high success rate in meeting their goal weight. He has performed over a thousand surgeries, With a low morbidity rate. He is very involved in the aftercare of his patients, you will have follow-up appts. at 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months 6 months, and 1 year, then yearly. I would rate him an a+. Dr. Wongsa was blessed with surgical competence and a great bedside manner.
