Voravit Wongsa Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I just erased my previous posting about my surgeon because i have changed to Dr. Wongsa. I started with NeWeigh and Dr. Jay. I have to give their office credit for doing the paperwork for my insurance approval. They worked quickly on that. I especially want to thank Leigh for her words of encouragement. I made the decision to change surgeons after i had my surgery rescheduled not once but twice. I will not get into a big detail about it but i will say they need to realize what an impact this makes on someones life when they are planning such a life changing event. Now on to my new found friends at Dr. Wongsa's office. First i want to thank Dee, she is the first person who took my phone call the afternoon i had my bad news that my surgery was cancelled just three days before i was to have it. Needless to say she had to deal with a very emotional me!!!! She was so kind and gave me hope. Now as for Dr. Wongsa, i emailed him that evening after his offices were closed telling him my long sob story. In less than one hour he personally emailed me back on a friday evening! Per his instructions i called Ruth that monday morning and she was able to get me worked in for a consultation. I had that today and they have already given me another surgery date! HOW COOL IS THAT! I will continue to update in my profile so please follow along as i continue on my adventure!

My consult was 5/7 and my husband went along with me. He and I agree he is a very cordial man with lots of knowledge and experience. Also is staff was very helpful. My insurance-Humana ppo was approved after a couple of weeks. Since his nurse is on vacation until 6-14 I do not have a surgery date but will opt for 6-28 or 7-5 . I am grateful for the support group PFAMOS we have and look forward to our meetings. I am so excited to have the chance to start a new life again. I can hardly stand myself!

Dr. Wongsa is very professional and takes time to answer any questions. His office staff are very friendly and helpful. I am completely confident in his surgical skills.

My impression of Dr Wongsa was very good,he was straight forward about the risk and complication.His office staff was very helpful.I work at the hospital where Dr Wongsa performs his surgeries,and everyone that works in the surgery dept and the nurses that takes care of his patient highly recommends him,I have asked alot about him around the hospital and the response are always good.

DR. WONGSA WAS GREAT. HE EXPLAIN EVERYTHING THAT COULD HAPPEN . I AM A NURSE SO I KNOW THE RISK. HE HAD APPROVEAL ON MY INSURANCE WITH 3 WEEKS. THIS IS A REVESION FOR ME I HAD THE VGP ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO BUT NEVER LOST ANY WEIGHT.

I chose Dr. Adam Naaman as my surgeon.My first impression was great! Bernice was great also.I sent one e-mail and from then on she called me and she took care of everything. Then when I went to the office I found out they are all just as nice. So far there is nothing I do not like about him. He does not have an aftercare program and personally I like what he had to say about that. He said you have been dieting all your life and it hasn't worked. This is a tool to help you not have the hunger so you can loose weight without dieting. He told me every risk, but I knew them already due to my research on the net.

WELL DO TO HEARING LOTS OF BAD THINGS ABOUT THE SURGEON I WAS GOING TO USE, I SWITCHED.
NOW I AM USING DR.VORAVIT WONGSA.
THESE ARE MY OWN PERSONAL FEELINGS AND THOUGHTS!!!!!

He is outstanding and so is Ruth his nurse. My best friend and I have talked with him on many occasions, and he is always willing to talk and answer any questions. Everyone in the surrounding areas would be silly not to use Dr. Wongsa. He is a 15***** (on a scale from 1 - 10)

Well tomorrow 3/19/01 I have my first appointment with Dr. Wongsa. I have read much on this Doctor and have spoken to some of his patients. I will come back and update this page and plan to keep a journal of this surgery for others to read. I will update with my impressions of my visit. I have really heard great things about this Doctor, I will let you know soon !!! :)

Update !! Dr. Wongsa is the BEST !!!!! he put my mind at ease and answered all my questions as if he had the whole day to share with me and my husband. He has such a wonderful personality and he truly cares about you. I have and will continue to highly recommend Dr. Wongsa to all who are interested in this kind of surgery. The office is nice and the staff is friendly. My rating of Dr. Wongsa is a BIG 10 !!!! with fireworks... He has all that every Doctor should have, a wonderful bedside manner, very informative with the patient, a wonderful communication and emphasizes in all areas of care and afercare. Dr. Wongsa is a small man from Thai but once you sit with him he opens up and makes you feel so comfortable. I went the first time with 30 questions ready to ask and he answered every one and then some. My husband I must admit was not so sure but once we left Dr. Wongsa's office my husband turned to me and said " I am supporting you 200% if you want to do this " Of course you can imagine how great I felt. So now I have my surgery date set for May 10th and I am preparing of the wonderful gift I am able to give myself and thank God that I met Dr. Wongsa. I know the Lord will be guiding his hands.

Hi, I met Dr Wongsa on 4/12/01. My first impression was WOW! I have worked in healthcare for 9 years and this is the FIRST doc that actually came into the waiting room and got me for the appointment. Dr Wongsa is very straight forward regarding the risks and tells you upfront if you follow his regimen you WILL lose the weight. I was impressed with his nurse Ruth. She is very friendly and easy to relate to.

04/20/2001 - I had my first appointment with Dr. Wongsa and found him to be very pleasant. He reviewed all the risks of the surgery with me and answered all my questions. He has done over 140 surgeries and specializes in Laparoscopic surgery. I'm looking forward to a surgery date. (Please click on my name for latest comments).

I have read great things about this surgeon and personally communicated with former patients that had surgery performed by this surgeon. I meet with Dr. Wongsa on Friday, 4/13/01. I can't wait!

I met with Dr. Wongsa this morning and what a pleasant appointment that was. For this to be such a serious procedure, he made me feel at ease about it. I went in armed with many questions and he answered all of them to my satisfaction. He is very patient and very personable and humorous. The letter with go out to Aetna on Monday 4/16/01 and I am scheduled for an upper GI. I am also going for a medical clearance from my PCP on Thursday, 4/19/01. If all goes smoothly, I could be on my way to surgery in a month or so. My fingers are crossed.

It is now Saturday, 4/21/01 and I was approved by Aetna in 3 days. NO PROBLEMS!!!
I am now waiting on Ruth to return my call from yesterday to schedule a date and wrap up all the pre op exams for my PCP. I am so excited. God has definitely seen me through this process.
