Dr Wongsa was a no nonsense type of guy . He was very up front about this surgery being a tool. His staff was very nice and helpful. I got lost going to his office and they talked me through getting there.
After my approval they were very patient with me calling and asking questions every two or three days.
Dr. Wongsa has not talked much about aftercare and one of his patients told me he really does not do much aftercare but from all I've heard he is an excellent surgeon.

Very direct and no-nonsense. Answered all my questions and did not make me feel stupid or rushed. Liked him a lot. Staff was wonderful! Am still pre-op, but would recommend him. Know two others who used him. One is in a size 6 now and other is 50 pounds from goal. Both give glowing recommendations of him. No structured aftercare. Strict about eating no fat or carbs after surgery at least for the first 9 months. That is the prime weight loss time. Protein and veggies are the ticket for weight loss. After reach goal, restrictions lighten up. Seems to work for others. He addressed all risks of surgery and made sure I knew what I was getting into. High rating. Surgical competence is FAR more important than bedside manner, however I would not have a jerk for a surgeon just because he was competent. Dr. Wongsa is great. Will update AFTER I have surgery.

Dr. Glorsky is AMAZING! He spent over an hour with my mom and I and is so patient and explains everything very well. He will try to do lap on anyone, so if you're over other doctor's limits...try him. PLUS...he does his surgery out of Memorial Hermann in the med center. Makes me feel more comfortable being there. He's recently started attending the support group that meets at Park Plaza and has ideas about starting his own. So far...he's a 10 in my book!

(5/10) Okay...Glorsky's staff is DRIVIN ME NUTS! They are SO slow...and he made sure to tell me during my visit not to "bug" his staff. Whatever...they took 3 weeks to get my stuff to Aetna (which I had to initiate). But oh well, it's approved! Just be ready to wait. Surgery looks like it won't but until August.

(5/13) Finally got tired of Glorsky's staff. Called Wongsa's office this morning. Got a consult this afternoon and surgery 2 weeks from now. He is very confident in his ability, which makes me comfortable. Doesn't do protein supplements, but the way he explains everything it all makes sense. I always have the option if I decide I want to do them later.

I had an appointment with Dr. Wongsa set up for May 21st. It took almost 6 weeks to get this appointment. I called each day to see if there was a cancellation and Michelle (who is very nice and has had the surgery a year ago..she looks great)asked me to just show up on Monday's or Friday' with a book and wait for "no-shows" Well I got lucky and got to see him today.(May 3rd) I had read how he was very "abrupt" and to the point, but I was very shocked to find him very nice to talk to and found him to be really concerned about my weight issues. I had a typed a list of questions for him and I know that he appreciated the fact that I had really done research on the surgery. He seems to be extremely strick, but I am the type of person that needs that type of reinforcement. I rate him a 10 so far!!!

When I talked to others about him they said that he was very cold. I did not feel that way. When I came to his office I met some of his patients. They all said how much they
liked him. They were their to get their staples out. They were surprised how well they felt. I first was taked into a office to be weighed. Then, I was sent to his office. It was an office/exam room. He asked me what I knew about the procedure. I told him all about obesity.com and he wrote it down. I told him what I had learned about surgery. I also have a friend who had the procedure last summer. He was very pleased that I knew so much. He did a short exam and asked me if I had any questions. He then showed me how large my stomach would be. We haven't talked about aftercare. I deal with the office staff on a weekly basis.
They are very nice even though they are very busy. I would rate him a 10.

I met with Dr Wongsa for the second on April 15, 2002 for the second consult before my surgery April 18, 2002. I really liked him this time. He was very kind and considerate of my feelings this time. He answered all our questions that my husband and I had for him. I am very glad that I have him as a surgeon and feel very comfortable in his hands. No, he does not have a structured after care. I would say that surgical competence is the best of the two, but I believe that he has both. I would rate him 10+ on a scale of 1 to 10. Yes, I would recommend him to anyone!

I found Dr. Wongsa to be very nice and personable. He was honest, upfront, and was very clear about what was expected from me. His nursing & office staff are all very friendly and sweet. I have never felt this comfortable at a new doctor's office. I had to wait about 45 minutes to see him but it was a great opportunity to talk to some other patients who already had the surgery. I chose Dr. Wongsa for his surgical skill reputation and the fact that he only does the LAP RNY. I really felt like his main concern was my health and would recommend him to anyone. He does not have a "formal" aftercare program except for follow up visits for a year. Some of his patients have started a support group at Cy-Fair Hospital and that information is available on the hospital website. I think having to be more self-reliant will help with long-term succes. Now I'm just waiting on insurance approval!!!

My first impression of Dr. Wongsa is that he is very serious and professional. He seems to want to make it very clear that this is a major step to take. I like the fact that he is "to the point." I appreciate that. He could be slightly more friendly or "personable." But, of course I have no idea what he faces daily to make him so serious....so I can't really judge him. The office staff was nice enough and friendly.
I didn't hear alot about aftercare, but I imagine there is something available.

My first impression was he's great,i went in there scared after reading everyones post about him being blunt and to the point. And that he was,but he is a very nice man, with great competance. The office staff has been great so far, every time i have had a question, they have always seemed eager to help.
