Today was the fisrt meeting between Dr. Wongsa and I. I read lots on the site about him being short with people. He was great with me. He explained the good and the bad. He is making me lose 10-15 pnds before surgery and will not operate if i do not lose. I liked that he was honest and did not want to hide the risks of the surgery. He does not have an aftercare program, so i am hoping to start one in Conroe where i live. His staff is GREAT!!! I rate him and his staff a 100. I have no doubt that Dr. Wongsa is the best surgeon for me. I have total faith in his surgical competence. I will say this. You will NOT just walk in and say i want surgery and think that he says ok. YOU WILL HAVE TO PROVE YOURSELF TO HIM. I think thats all that i can really say that some may take negative. 5-20-02 288.5 pnds
8-21-02 Well I am now 6 days post-op and just wanted to say a few things about Dr Wongsa. The day of surgery I was so nervous and he made me feel better. HE was very kind, even held my hand. He told me that if I wanted to wait a few weeks that we could do the surgery another day. Dr. Wongsa and his nurse Dee took great care of me that day. I already know that I will be going against a few of Dr. WOngsa's request, but I still think that he is a GREAT surgeon.
Well I finally had my visit with Dr. Wongsa.
I found him to be a kind, straight forward, informative, pleasant professional. The office staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Dr. Wongsa explained the need for the patient to understand that he is only part of the weight loss equasion. It takes two... you and the surgery! The discussion regarding the procedure was as I had expected and appreciated. I feel that he explained the risks of the surgery and the complications of the procedure very well.
The examination was brief and questions were answered throughly. I had all my paperwork ready for submission to Cigna on Monday so we will see if my decision to seek surgical intervention will be acknowledged favorably.
Dr.Wongsa is a no nonsense, straight forward doctor. He tells you what to expect and what he exoects of you. He has been there for me through this entire process and has never made me regret choosing him. He has a dry sense of humor, but if you want to know what to expect in this surgery and afterwards he is definently the doctor for you. If I had it to do over, I would still choose him.
His office staff is great with support and answers, Dee, his aide is a God send. If you ever need anything she is there. She even visits you in the hospital every day you are there.
He is a beliver in following your diet and keeping your appointments with him. He likes to follow you and offers any help you need. He will even call you at home when your scared and can't keep anything down.
All in all i was and am still very satisfied with my choice of doctor.his bedside manner is cruel, but like I said, he is no nonsense.
Dr. Wongsa actually came out to the waiting room and called me back to his office for my consultation with him. He is very straight forward and really gets to the point. I was a little surprised by his blunt statements. But overall he seems very confident in his work and wants to make sure your are dedicated to sucede.
His office staff is very friendly and very busy.
I don't know if he does this with all of his patients, but he insisted that I lose 15 pounds before he would operate. He wants me to show him that I'm dedicated.
Dr. Wongsa is a very straight forward person. He doesn't appear to beat around the bush and will tell you so. I have only seen him one time which was for my consiltation but he seems very sure about this procedure. He did talk with me about risk but my response it there is risk if I don't do something.
First impression great! Concerned and compassionate.
My overall impression of Dr. Wongsa did not change with time.
The office staff is wonderful.
Dr. Wongsa is a gifted laproscopic surgeon.
He strongly emphasizes no carbohydrates for
six months eating 3 meals a day, gradually increasing potion sizes. Then returning to a normal smaller portion diet.
Dr. Wongsa addressed the risks of surgery very informativley.
I rate Dr. Voravit Wongsa as excellent.
His surgical competence and bedside manner are both wonderful.
Dr. Wongsa was wonderful. He is very straight-forward and does not mince words about this surgery. I appreciated his candid answers to all my questions. He gave me as much time as I wanted, let me and my husband ask questions. I never felt rushed.
The best experience was waiting to see him in the waiting room. Waiting for my appointment, I spoke to six or seven of his patients that all had surgery, every one raved about Dr. Wongsa and they all said they would do it again. One patient had surgery a week ago and was there to have staples removed, she looked great and was able to go back to work quickly, although the Doctor said two weeks.
I feel that Dr. Wongsa is a skilled and competent surgeon that leaves NO "holes barred". He does not hold your hand and suger coat this surgery and the reason for it, but he gives detailed answers to any and all questions.
His staff is wonderful, in fact, Michelle one of his nurses had the surgery a year ago and looks wonderful. I have called and talked to his staff several times and they have been great.
My husband (who skeptical at first) and I feel very confident in my choice of Dr. Wongsa.
The only negative is that he wants me to lose 10 pound before surgery, with no carbs and no fat, really hard for me to do but I am determined.
This is my personal impression of Dr Wongsa and I may feel differently after surgery but at this time I am encouraged that he is the best for me.
