Dr. Miller was extremely helpful and resourceful with telling me about the surgury and what to expect. He was very honest about the pain level, the possible complications and what they would expect of me as a patient. His staff was very helpful. Anytime I've had a question I was able to call and have a response. The aftercare program is extremely helpful in what to expect. I would definately rate Dr. Miller and his staff at Nanticoke Surgical as a 10+.
I was pretty impressed with Dr. Samuel Miller during my first appointment with him. He was very open and honest about the risks of the surgery and the details of the operation. I felt comfortable with him because he seemed like the kind of Dr. that would give all the facts-- good and bad.
Over time, Dr. Miller proved to be very knowledgable about the WLS. He was up front with telling me his limitations as far as how long he was comfortable being in surgery. I enjoyed his demenaor. He's always very cool, calm, and collected. Doesn't get to rattled about things. He just sits quietly for a minute and thinks. I like that. He explained things very well to me also. I knew exactly what to expect at all times. Both his surgerical competence and bedside manner were great. He seems really interested in seeing his patients succeed. Changing Lives (the practice) has a very structured and detailed aftercare plan. I don't see how someone could not be sussessful if they put what is taught into action. The team is great. They have a very well rounded staff including as nutritionalist, program coordinator, physical trainer, counselor, etc... The Administrtative Assistant is also a long time patient of Dr. Smoot and Miller. She knows the process first hand. Overall on a scale of 1 to 10 (1=worst; 10=great) I'd rate Dr. Miller and the Changing Lives team a 20. I'm now 4 weeks post op and can't say how much this is "Changing" my "Life"
Thank you.
My husband and I were very impressed with Dr. Miller from the first visit. He was always concerned and took the time to explain everything and answer any questions that we had. Our impression has only gotten better of him. His Office Staff is great! We have developed a wonderful relationship with him and his staff. I really can't think of a thing that I don't like about him. As you can tell from my comments - we think highly of him.
Aftercare is a very important part of procedure, both office visits and support group meetings. Yes, he has a structured aftercare program.
He was up front with us as to all the risks of the surgery. I was torn between the laproscopic procedure and the open, but after talking with him I chose the open.
Overall, I think he is a very good physician.
Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are great!
These are my opinions - I was lucky that my husband went throught every thing first; so I got to sit back and observe before it was my turn. The support group meetings have been very helpful before and after surgery. Because each of us are different - we all view things that we encounter differently. Best of luck to all!
Dr. Miller was extremely informative in his presentation. He "pulled no punches"in his explanations of the expectations, outcomes, surgery itself, and complications. He was very humble about his abilities--and did not act like a salesman at all. He would volunteer "I'm not that good of a surgeon to take you on if you have this and that complication-you need to go elsewhere..." I appreciated his conservatism and self assessment of his skills. I felt more secure knowing this.
Office staff was very kind barbara and Christine. Tina is a ditz who I am not even going to deal with anymore because EVERY single time she gave me wrong info. in regards to insurance etc. Aftercare is heavily discussed.
My first impression was good he was very knowledgable. The staff is very nice especially his social worker. The whole office makes you feel very at ease. The office offers a very extensive program that fits your new lifestyle. I was well addressed about the possible risks of surgury up front and all through out my appointments. I would rate him and his office a high 9.
I just met with Dr.Miller today, June 5, 2002. He was really thorough and answered most of my questions before I could ask them.
He said he's done about 125 of these surgeries. I didn't feel rushed with him at all. Sometimes it was hard to get a word in with him, because he had so much to say! He was very professional and really didn't sugarcoat anything. He emphasized the way that they take preventative measures to keep complications to a minimum and also the importance of aftercare. I came out of the office with an even better feeling about the surgery. The staff there was great!
My 1st impression of Dr.Miller was that he was very professional and informative. Him and his staff was very kind and informed me of all the risks and responsabilities involved. I go into this knowing exactly what to expect. I trust Dr.Miller completely. There is no doubt in my mind that the aftercare won't be just as pleasant.
Dr. Miller came highly reccomended to me and after meeting with him I understood why. He's very honest, direct and doesn't pull any punches. He put my mind at ease answering every question I had and explained every smallest detail. I left feeling positive with the utmost faith in his ability. The entire staff at "Changing Lives through Bariatric Surgery" in Seaford, De. were informed, helpful and really on the ball. They are with you each step of the way and they have a very strong aftercare program, which is very important. I know that I made the right choice and that it was well worth the wait I had to get an appointment with them.
I absolutely loved every aspect of my first consult with Dr. Miller. The whole program in Seaford is impressive. He is very candid and takes the time to make sure that you understand the material he is presenting. I really couldn't find anything negative about him or his program. I would recommend him to anybody!
