Good, Friendly, I was comfortable with him,
It has only gotten better. I trust him.
Very helpful, very nice.
I don't have any problems with him.
I know alot of people who has used him as there doc. And they are pleased.
Alot, The hospital that the syrgery is threw has a rewards program that you give money to in the begining, and as long as you attend you appt. like you are supposed to you will earn your money back.
yes!
At pre-opp we will go to a small class, at that time you will speak with different people from the office. And in the end we took a small test, and gave it to the doc. it lets him know how much we really understand.
I hate to rate at this time. I have not had my surgery yet. But so far, so good!
both are great!!!
I thought Dr. O'Connell was great. I met him for the first time on June 5. His office staff was also wonderful. He wants me to have a sleep apnea study, so that is in the process of being set up. I finally had surgery on December 9. I had great confidence in Dr. O'Connell because I knew God would guide him. Without the good Lord we would be nothing. He has a very structured aftercare program. Your risk of surgery is 1%, but you take risks in everything in life. I would rate him a #10, a had much confidence in him and his bedside manner was great.
My first visit was 12-18-02. The receptionist was not as friendly as everyone else. Heather came in and took my medical history. She asked if I had any questions and I pulled out my notebook. I had 34. She answered all of them and was very knowledgable. I met Dr. O'Connell after and he was very honest as well. I was going in thinking I wanted one procedure, but chose another. We are now waiting approval and for the psych eval.
My first impression of Dr. O'Connell was great. He's all business but nice. Extremely knowlegeable in his field, gastro surgery. My impression of him and his staff only gets better. I wish he were closer to my home but his office is only an hour away. Not too bad. Future potential patients should know that he and his office are very busy and getting busier so it's important to be patient for your appointment. The personalized attention is when you meet with your surgeon.
His program (Renew) emphasizes aftercare a lot. They feel it's so important they make you sign a contract and give them $300 that you get back as you fulfill the requirements of the contract. If you don't sign the contract you won't have the surgery there. Aftercare was one of my biggest concerns. I've always been able to lose the weight but never have been able to keep it off. So I need this kind of structured aftercare program to help me establish new habits and a new way of life.
As far as addressing the risks of surgery, they have a very informative video you watch before you have your consultation. In my case, I had done so much research and read everything I could get my hands on that I really didn't have any questions or surprises.
Overall I think Dr. O'Connell is outstanding. I think surgical competence beats bedside manner somewhat but both are very important. Dr. O'Connell is looking for a commitment from you before he moves forward. As long as you're making the effort to change your life habits he'll be there for you.
My insurance company referred me to Dr. O'Connell I have my first meeting with him Jan 21'st 2002. I am excited and will keep you updated.
Had my surgery July 30'th 2002 everything went great Dr. O'Connell was a wonderful surgeon. I have no complaints. he was kind, caring, and I saw him everyday that I was in the hospital.
Dr. O'Connell is a friendly professional person. He is very knowigable and answered any and all questions i have. The Renew staff is helpfull; howver very busy and soemtimes i feel that i am rushed when I call. The after care program is very structured and involved with their patients. They are with you every step of the way. I am very pleased with the services the Renew program offers. The rsiks of the urgery were discussed with me and given to me in numerous hand outs and booklets. I highly commend Dr. O'Connell. I came to New Ortleans from Fort Polk becasue I felt he was the most experianced Doctor for the WLS that I could have. No regreats here!
Dr. Ruary O'Connell is a GREAT man. He is very thorough and made very sure I was comfortable. I had to page him the night before surgery, and he was very wonderful to talk to. He actually made me feel very secure. He visited 2 times in the hospital, and he removed the drainage bulb. He asked me if I had any concerns, and then reassured me that next year I would be a new woman. He is an AWESOME doc!
The whole Renew Office is VERY structured and care a whole lot about the patients!!
My first impression of Dr. O'Connell was wow he is so open and honest. Dr.o'connell was a very confident doctor. As I got to know him and after I had my surgery I was so happy I made the right decision. Dr. oConnell's bed side manners were great, he checked on me all the time and asked me if I had any concerns after the surgery.
The office staff of Dr. O'Connell's was outstanding. I guess when you have a great Dr. the staff follows. What patients shoul know about him, is that he is very up front with you and there is no beating around bush if he does not feel comfortable with something he will tell you.
Dr. O'Connell is big on after care with his patients. Before surgery he sends you to get a psych eval to make sure you are ready to take the correct steps after this surgery because it is such a major surgery.
Like I said before he is very honest, he goes through all of the risk invloved. I would rate Dr. O'Connell a 150% what a Dr, I wish all doctors could be like him.
Dr. O'Connell is great in all of of his areas, he was a born doctor.
