I will be meeting Dr. Mitchell on Feb 27 and maybe sooner if they can get me in. I have heard nothing but good about him.

Changed Dr's since Dr. Mitchell is out so now I have a date with Dr. Gaskin 3-21-02.

UPDATE: Dr. Fabito cancelled his surgeries until further notice, so I have been referred to Dr. Gaskin... don't know a thing about him. Hoping to schedule within the week to have the surgery in March. I was originally scheduled for March 4th! Hope he is good. I will continue to research him to make sure I am comfortable with this. So far I have read positive things!

Dr. Fabito: I went to a seminar in July. It was very informative. He answered questions thoroughly and we also had a chance to talk with Ruthie, the respiratory therapist (who has also had the surgery and lost close to 200 lbs.! I am just waiting for insurance approval now, then they will schedule my surgery. I sure hope the insurance will be approved quickly!

He is a great doctor. Very nice and didn't look at me the way other physicians have in the past, He understood. He staff was great very helpful and very politte. He explained all the risks of surgery and that this is not a quick fix. I would not change a thing overall I think Dr. Gaskin and his staff are a 10!!!!

My first visit to see Dr. Mithelle was today 03/16/01 He seemed nice but distracted a little since I had been to one of their seminars last weekend it had answered all of my questions so Dr. Mithelle only spent about 15 minutes with me. The only thing that we were both concerned with is past history of old scar tissue but won't be able to know anything until surgery. His staff is wonderful Stephanie and the other woman I don't know her name were really nice and helpful.
His office also works with Weight for Life they are the ones who gave the seminar Dr. Yates talked at the seminar he is Dr. Mithell's associate. He was very informative and explained the surgery and all risks. They stressed the after care program they have a nutrionist and counselor if you need one and also monthly support group meetings which they stress that you attend. He said they have their own surgical room at Forest Park Hospital and you get a private room. I think Dr. Mitchell is a very caring doctor he wants the best for his patients.
Nov 14 2001 I have a new surgeon Dr. Norbert Richardson. I really like him he is very personable and straight forward. He really stressed all the risks that could happen. He says that he thinks that he can do it laproscopically unless they get in there and can't see. He told me it would be a shorter recovery time and less pain. I am so glad that he would do my surgery after what happened with the other doctor. All of his staff are very friendly and helpful and Dr. Richardson is very friendly and thourough. They also have a very good aftercare program in place and a support group once a month.
Dec 12 Well as of Dec 1 Dr. Norbert Richardson is no longer doing gastric bypass surgeries. His office refered me to doctor number three. I saw Dr. Ronad Gaskin on Dec 10th my birthday. I really like him he has a sense of humor which totally put me at ease. He said he didn't see what the first doctor was afraid of he doesn't see any problems only that I might need dilated again which I would need done even without the surgery and that my incision might open up because I had that happen with other surgeries. Hs office has already scheduled preop tests Jan 3 and surgery Jan 10.

Dr. Gaskin is very professional. My first impression was that he knew what he was doing, and was very quick to answer my questions thrououghly. I believe he is a wonderful doctor. Some doctors in the St. Louis area were not interested in performing surgery on a MEDICARE patient. He was more than willing. My surgery was September 26th, 2001. His staff was more than helpful. Couldnt have asked for friendlier people. There is nothing bad that I can say about Dr. Gaskin. I highly recommend him. He is more than willing to listen and help you with any problems you may encounter. I recommend anyone nervous about the surgery to contact Dr. Gaskin, he'll put you at ease and explain anything you would like to know. He has follow up visits and explains in detail of what to expect, etc. He explained all the possibilities of complications that could arrise during, and after surgery. He gives you the statistics and thouroughly explains the risks. And what makes it even better is that he will speak with you in person before the surgery. He has wonderful bedside manner, and after going through the surgery, I would not hesitate to recommend him to everyone. I believe Dr. Gaskin has helped to change my life, and I am so thankful that he was my doctor. I realize that my review was nothing but positive, but Dr. Gaskin deserves the highest ranking available. I am not one to sweetcoat my responses. I believe in being truthful, and therefore rank Dr. Gaskin as a 10/10. Thank you Dr. Gaskin.

My first impression of Dr. Gaskin was that I liked him. He did not talk much to me on my pre-op visit. Later in the hospital he seemed very nice but busy. I visited him on my one week visit after surgery and I really liked him but he seemed very busy again. The office staff was very nice and his nurse removed the staples from my incision. She was very nice and concerned. On my one month visit Dr. Gaskin seemed very nice again, he checked my incision and said he would see me in one year unless I had any complications. Also to start a exercise program. I was in the office for less than five minutes. I would rate him on a scale of 1 to 10 as an 8. I would liked to have some more personal attention.

Dr. Gaskin is a great doctor. He took the time to sit down with me prior to my surgery and discuss all the risks and benefits of the wls and answer all my questions. He is very soft spoken and seems to be compassionate. Dr. Gaskin not only performed the RNY, but repaired a HUGE incisional hernia (from a prior surgery) at the same time. On subsequent office visits he seemed a little hurried but during the crucial pre-op and post-op time he was wonderful. The office staff is great.but the office is a little crowded at times.
