I first met Dr. Cole more than a year ago when a friend chose Dr. cole to perform her Gastric Bypass Surgery. Dr. cole was honest and direct, thorough and informative then and he has not changed one bit over the past year (+). When I first met with Dr. Cole in 4/04, he was once again direct, thorough, informative and honest with me. I immediately put my trust in him and trust him with my life completely. But Dr. Cole is only part of the package. He comes with a support team that enhances everything he believes and practices. The staff at Dr. Cole's office are always pleasant and friendly, caring and comforting. I'm sure they worked harder on my approval than I will ever know. I truly appreciate all of them and look forward to my journey as I enter my new life. I rate Dr. Cole as the "BEST" and I must honestly mention something I really noticed about him. Dr. cole has the most gentle hands and as I watched him draw out the explanation of the surgical process, I noticed his artistic, but firm, gentle but accurate, way he used his hands. So there you have it, if you're looking for a surgeon with these qualities, give Dr. Cole a call. Although I appreciate bedside manner, I'm more concerned about who's holding the knife. I studied Dr. Cole's eyes as he spoke to me, I watched the way he walks, the way he talks and I am convinced that I will be in good hands on 8/20 when I am sound asleep and Dr. Cole gives me the tool that can change my life.

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS MY RESPONSES TO A SMALL 10 QUESTION SURVEY, WHICH THE QUESTIONS POSED ARE NOT VISIBLE TO THE READER.
(1)
MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF DR. COLE WERE: AWESOME!!,COMPETANT, MATTER OF FACT/LAY TERMS VERSUS MEDICAL JARGON.
(2)
SINCE MY SURGERY, MY IMPRESSIONS OF DR. COLE HAVE ONLY GOTTEN BETTER!
(3)
HIS OFFICE STAFF CAN ONLY BE DESCRIBED AS AWESOME!!
(4)
THE ONLY NEGATIVE THING IN THIS SURVEY THAT I MIGHT CONTRIBUTE IS DR. COLE'S OFFICE IS NOT CLOSE ENOUGH - 1 HOUR COMMUTE- (EVERYTHING IN WELLSBORO IS A 1 - 5 HOUR COMMUTE THOUGH :) )
(5)
DO WHAT HE SAYS AND YOU WILL BE FINE!!
(6)
DR. COLE'S EMPHASIS ON AFTERCARE IS THAT IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!!
(7)
YES, DR. COLE HAS STRUCTURED AFTERCARE PROGRAM.
(8)
IN ADDRESSING THE RISKS INVOLVED WITH THIS SURGERY, AS ABOVE, HE USED LAY TERMS THAT I HAD NO TROUBLE UNDERSTANDING AND WHICH I APPRECIATE.
(9)
OUT OF A SCALE OF 1 - 10 (1 BEING WORST AND 10 BEING BEST I WOULD HAVE TO GIVE DR. COLE A 12!!!
(10)
SURGICAL COMPETANCE BUT BOTH LEAVE NO ROOM FOR DISSATISFACTION
- - - -
IN CLOSING, I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT ALTHOUGH THERE MAY BE OTHERS WHO MIGHT HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS OF THIS DOCTOR,(FOR EXAMPLE HIS STRAIGHTFORWARDNESS IF THEY ARE THE TYPE WHO PREFER TO HAVE LIFE HANDED TO THEM COATED WITH SUGAR) AND THIS MAY ALTER THEIR VIEWS, I HAVE HAD NOT ONE PROBLEM WITH DR COLE AND CAN ONLY PRAISE HIM AND WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR MY LIFE.

Dr. Cole was wonderful both before and after surgery as was the office staff they worked very hard to get the insurance approval. They have always been very helpful and nice.
Dr. Cole has a structured before and after care program - he was and still is very up front about your weightloss, and your needs he is very easy to talk to and very caring. I would rate him as a giant 10 - I was a tough case for him as a surgen due to past surgeries, and scaring he did a great job and kept my scars to a minimum (he actually was able to open me up over top of the same scar I already had and that was very important to me.

He and his office staff are some of the greatest people I have ever met, and some of the most caring. He is very thorough about every aspect of the surgical process, he cuts no corners with pre-op or post-op care. He was a bit gruff at first, emphisizing the more negative aspects of the surgery, but after the first meeting he was very congenial...I believe it is his way to root out those who are not ready for the total commitment that bariatric surgery calls for.

Dr. cole was forward and straight and tells you how it is and how your life can be if you do as he tells you.I grew to care very much, there be no way that I would or could feel any other way about this man and his staff they all have been great too me.He is a doctor that will only do the surgery if he feels you are ready and honest with your self. He is not like other DR.s that do it for the money . He does because he cares and wants too help you live agian and be healthy .He is great on telling you everything you need for before and after surgery. Dr. Cole will tell you everything that can or may happen during surgery , so there is no question on anything . if you want too know something that was not covered just ask he will be glad too tell you. I rate him as a gift from GOD . His hands are like magic and I can not ever say enough good things about him.Everything about him his great as far as i am concerned. So if you feel you need this surgery don't wait call and get started today . GOD BLESS !!!!!

My first impression was that he was all business and very knowledgable about the surgery. He was informative, but almost cold or impersonal. He stated the facts, asked if I had questions, then sent me home. I left the office a little upset and conflicted about him as my Dr. I told my husband I wanted to find someone else!! My husband told me to give this a chance and follow through a couple of more times, after I did what I was expected. I am glad I did .

After I made my decision about the surgery and did everything I was asked to by him prior to my next appointment, he was more as I hoped he would be in the first place. I realize now I had to make a decision, not be influenced by him. Now I love him as my surgeon and would recommend him to everyone contemplating this surgery. I went back in the hospital after my surgery for a minor problem and he was right there for me as were others in his office as soon as he was told I needed him.

His office staff is well informed and very helpful. Everyone tries to put you at ease and make the process go as smoothly as possible.

His bluntness! At first I was put off, but later realized it was for my benefit to really know what to expect from him, myself, and the surgery.

I feel he is one of the best. Go into this informed, ask questions, he knows his job and if you listen to him he only tells you what is best for you to be a success.

He beleives in telling you what to expect after the surgery and what to do to be a success. He is very informative about what he wants you to do before, during and after surgery, both in the hospital and at home. He can't seem to stress aftercare enough, and questions you at length at evey visit, always reinforcing what he feels is most important.

Yes, he has you follow strict dietary and vitamin guidelines. He expects you to continue seeing the dietician, and go to support meetings. There is psycological help if needed.

He stressed the risks very bluntly right up front. He tells you everything that could happen and what will for sure. He has you attend support meetings and read material about the surgery so you know every in and out that you could or should know about this major decision, before you make it. He stresses this is a lifestyle change that needs to be strictly adhered to. He has you meet with the dietician and the pschologist, who also stress what can, will, or could happen.

I would rate him on a scale of 1-10 a 50 I was very comfortable the day of my surgery, and had all the faith in the world in him, not one sign of nerves on my part. That is how confident and informed I was by my date.

I would say both are great, now that I know him and what he expects. I have seen the results of his skill and knowledge, and couldn't be happier. As for bedside manner, he was great about telling me what to expect next and what he was about to do before he did it. He always leaves ME smiling.

I have never had a doctor take as much time with me as Dr. Cole did. He was a very warm person, as was the rest of his staff. I felt comfortable right from the start.Dr. Cole sat down beside me and educated me on the whole issue. I left feeling so informed. I feel I have all the information I need, proceedure wise, to make the right decision.

MY first impression of Dr. Cole was that he was very nice and he did not believe in Dieting. He had very strong faith in his surgery. Dr. Coles staff are very nice. As like any Dr. office trying to get intouch with someone always seems to take forever but the staff is very pleasant when you do get them. The thing I liked the least is how at ease he was when I had a problem. I'm sure this is because he has seen all the problems before but me being new I haven't and I wanted explanations. Aftercare is very laxed. I saw them to get my staples and drain out then I don't see them again for a month. I know some people go to the doctors every somany weeks. They do have others you see after surgery though. They have a social worker you can see if you need to and a Dietician who you see every two weeks after surgery I think that is only for the first month but then she also is available when you need to see her. The risks of surgery were mentioned but not focused on. After my initial consultion I had so many questions still so I guess the should have been discussed more. Overall in his surgery skill I would rate him a 8. He is a excellent surgeon. My sis says he has a bad bed side manner, but very good at the surgery he performs which is Open RNY. I would like to stress that all my experiences were how I personally felt. Someone else may have a totally different experience wheter it be better than mine or worse than mine. Each individual has there own way of seeing things.

My first Impression of Dr. Cole was he had a dry sense of humor but was a very straight forward man and gave you the answers you were looking for.
