Juan-Carlos Verdeja Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Dr. Verdeja is the best. He is very knowledgable. He makes you feel very comfortable and will answer all of your questions. I never felt rushed. Before I actually met with him for the first time, I heard from many Physicians that he is one of the best in Miami.Just FYI: he only performs Open RNY, he does not perform the Laproscopic procedure, if you want it laproscopic he will refer you to one of his partners.

My visit with DR. VERDEJA!!!
I was so very impressed!! He was open, honest, and detailed.Even had a sense of humor (important to me). He took his time, I didnt feel rushed at all. He spent a good hour with my husband, my Mom and myself answering questions.
Carmen is the insurance filer and appointment scheduler. She is EXTREMELY busy, but very friendly!!
I left his office feeling confident in my decision and choice of surgeon!!

Dr. Verdeja is the best! He is not only an excellent surgeon but, he makes you feel like you are his only patient. He takes time to talk with you and find out all your concerns and answers all your questions. I would reccomend everyone to go to him. His staff is also very attentive, together they make sure your know everything form beggining to end thru pain, medication, food, surgery, etc., nothing is a surprise.

Dr. Verdeja has been a true professional. From the beginning when we meet him in a group session, to the one on one question and answer session, he has explained us everything in complete detail.

After the surgery was scheduled, we met again with Dr. Verdeja and he gave us all of the last minute answers to our questions.
Made us feel very much happy and at ease with our decision.

My wife and I are having open surgery with Dr. Vereja on the same day.

I cannot say enough about my surgeon. Dr Verdeja is a wonderful physician. He is extremely devoted to his patients and makes you feel like he realy and truly cares about you. He is the onlt doctor I have ever know to greet me with no only a hello but a hug! How great is that? He provides very personalized care and will spend as much time as needed with you answering question after question. I never felt nervous or worried because the care he gave me felt so assured I was in great hands. I had open RNY on 12/18/02 @ Baptist Hospital in Miami. My regular MD, Dr. Manuel Gonzalez @ Medical Group @ South Miami is also a great physician, he made every effort to make me feel comfortabel and normal unlike some doctors who tend to make you feel like being obese is a crime. He sent me to Dr. Lettelier for a sleep study in which we discovered I suffer from Sleep Apnea, which assisted in my insurance claim. Overall I have never been so pleased with the level of service and care I received from my doctors and would highly reccomend anyone to them! I know this asks you to write something negative or it seems untrue, well the only "negative" comment I have was that I had to drive 45 minutes to reach my physicians, in the end that doesn't seem like such a big deal, just a pain when your stuck in work traffic ! So overall - nah - nothing negative!

I love the guy. He is very personable, caring and a great surgeon. His office staff leaves much to be desired. They really are not concerned with helping the patient out with any concerns. If you have insurance problems you are on your own.
Dr. V. does not have a structured aftercare program. You need to follow up with him every 3 months. He does have a very good Nurse Practioner who is available at all times.

My first impression of Dr. Verdeja was...BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. The first time I saw him was during an informational session he holds at his office. There must have been 50 peeople in the lobby. He went over the surgery, including its risks and benefits. He answered several questions using leman's terms and handed out a very detailed brochure for us to read and share with our families. I had to wait three months for my one-on-one appointment with him, but it was worth it. Dr. Verdeja's good sense of humor, eases the process and makes his patients feel a whole lot more comfortable. Dr. Verdeja and his collegues have in my opinion, the best aftercare program. I visited one with a friend and I enjoyed it greatly. The staff were somewhat courteous, although I think they would benefit from additional staffing. On my one-on-one visit I was at their office for over three hours waiting to see someone, who at the end, all I needed to do was talk to on the phone. In a scale of 1 - 10, I rate Dr. Verdeja an 8. I'll give him the 10, after my successful surgery. ;-)

Dr. Verdeja is extremely knowledgeable. I felt very comfortable with him and his training. My impression of him has not changed at all. He has remained very caring, a great listener.

His office staff was excellent. Very cooperative. The thing I liked least is trying to get in touch with his office. It is very busy and it is sometimes difficult to get through.

Dr. Verdeja had a lengthy session/class where he went into detail regarding the benefits and risks of surgery. Afterwards, patients are able to meet with him and ask more personal questions/concerns.

I would give Dr. Verdeja a 10!!!
His bed side manner, competence and compassion are second to none!!

My first impression of Dr Verdeja was that he was very self-assured. As I continued to deal with him I like his sens of serenity and his attention to detail. He was extremely explicit in all his explanations and very sincere in his opinions. As time has passed and I learn more about the amount of experienc Dr.Verdeja has and his success stores I have become very comfortable with my decision of having this procedure done. He runs a very busy office but, although those girls are always extremely busy, they treat you with alot of kindness, as if they knew you all their lives. They pat you on the back and that is good for anyone. The only thing that I do not like about Dr. Verdeja is that he can't keep an appointment time. No matter what time I request an appointment there is always a long wait. But I understand he is very much in demand. I highly recommed Dr. Verdeja, he is a humane individual above all and has an incredible love for his profession. He does have a well structured aftercare program. He was very explicit in his explanation of the risks involved, which seem minimal. Alhough I hve not yet had the surgery, my daughter has and I can honestly say that both his surgical competence and bedside manner seem great.

when i first met dr.verdeja, i got the impression that he was just an ordinary doctor. he explained the surgery in detail and answered all my questions. i didnt see him again until six months later, right before my surgery. i was suprised to see him sympathetic and reassuring (i was very scared). he held my hand for a bit, talked and reassured my mother, gave me a kiss on the cheek, and i was off to surgery. while in the hospital, he came often and always with a smile to soften my pain. i have no doubt that i chose the very best surgeon!
