Javier De La Garza Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I think Dr. Javier is a very friendly and warm person, he is caring and made me feel comfortable and secure. He talked about aftercare and made me understand that the surgery is a first step with all other steps being equally important like following all the rules laid out. He also addressed the risks of the surgery, clarified different issues but did not make me nervous about the surgery. Future patients should know that Dr. Javier has a lot of experience and makes you feel comfortable about your decision, he is an excellent doctor.
The patient coordinator was also excellent, I probably would not have made this trip if it was not for her attentiveness. The hospital and hotel facilities were also great, it all exceeded my expectations and I would definitely recommend it to others.

Dr. Javier de la Garza was very friendly and ready to answer any questions. He went over everything very thoroughly. My impression never changed, I felt very comfortable with him. He came back several times to let me know how I was doing. Dr. de la Garza was very much to the point of what he wanted me to do to take care of myself. I was very nervous about leaving the country to have this surgery done. I read everything I could find about it and finally decided to just do it. Dr. de la Garza made me feel very good from the moment I met him. I feel like he did an outstanding job. His bedside manner was second to none. Overall I would rate him as outstanding. I don´t know why anybody would have the Lap Band done anywhere else, I was treated like royalty.
Nina, the patient coordinator, is just a doll. She was there for my husband and I any time we needed her. She has the patience of a saint. She looked at my schedule and planned the surgery date so I wouldn´t have to wait until next year. The nutritionist was also very informative. She answered every question I had and I now feel confident that I will do just fine with the nutritional part of my weight loss.
Everything during my stay at OCA hospital was great. The hotel room was very nice, but then the recovery room… you feel like royalty there. Everything is just beautiful. I have had three other surgeries in the past in Florida. The quality is so much better in Monterrey in my opinion. I didn´t expect it to be as well, but I was so wrong. The only thing I would suggest is to maybe have some cue cards in the hotel to help the non Spanish speaking patients to communicate with the great staff. I would definitely recommend Dr. de la Garza, Nina, the rest of the hospital staff to anybody who is considering having the surgery done.

Dr. De la Garza is a very well dressed professional who is very easy to talk to. My impression of him only got better with time, he exceeded my expectations as to both surgical competence and bedside manner by far. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate him as a 10. I don´t think there is room for improvement. He is a great person and a great surgeon, I was very pleased.
My stay at OCA Hospital was a wonderful experience. My wife was there for the same procedure in July so I knew it was a hospital of the highest standards. My patient coordinator helped me in every way. She was there for every step of my stay at the hospital. She speaks perfect English which was very helpful. She goes out of her way to be very helpful and friendly. In my lifetime I have had over fourteen operations. My stay at OCA was the best experience I have ever had at a hospital.

Dr. de la Garza was very welcoming and comforting. He answered all questions and enthusiastically explained the procedure. I felt safe right from the beginning and I knew I could trust him. I was just more pleased when he would repeatedly visit my room and make me feel like I was #1 priority. The anesthesiologist also visited me before and after the surgery and I was confident with my operation in their hands. Everyone should know that Dr. de la Garza is a doctor that I really appreciate. This was a scary procedure for me, but the doctor went out of his way to make me feel comfortable. I am 100% satisfied with his work. I wish I loved closer so I could come again. Overall I would rate Dr. Javier as 100 / 100, he is great and has a marvelous staff and a beautiful hospital. Everyone is so welcoming and helpful. I really felt special and well looked after. My patient coordinator was absolutely wonderful. She was so patient with me and my mom and our million questions and concerns. Coming from Canada to a country foreign to us, she was so helpful and sweet. We felt and instant friendship from the first time we spoke with her. It is obvious that Dr. Javier and his wonderful staff of nurses, patient coordinators and hotel staff really enjoy their jobs because I always saw beautiful smiles.
The Hospital and Hotel facilities at OCA Hospital were beyond what I could have imagined. I loved everything. The hotel room was amazing, the hospital, elevators, everything was clean and elegant, 5 stars! Every nurse, everyone of the staff was so polite and gave me 100% attention. I never felt any coldness but all warmth, more than willing to answer questions. I have never seen a better staff than this one anywhere. I will be telling all my friends, family, anyone I know about Lite´n Free. I will highly recommend the service and the beautiful hospital. I know some people may be hesitant to go to Mexico, but the flight, the hotel and the hospital were all wonderful. Coming from Canada where hospitals are rushed I could really appreciate OCA Hospital and their great service.

Dr. Javier de la Garza is a very nice, kind and pleasant man. He visited me several times after surgery and talked about risks such as slippage, erosion and leakage. He is very honest and professional and has great bedside manners as well as surgical competence.
My patient coordinator was excellent. Really good, knowledgeable and personable. She gave us hints on things to see as tourists here. She provided everything we needed and also helped us with the financing.
The staff at OCA Hospital was so helpful and always available. The care was better than in the States, the nurses were outstanding. We were impressed with the professional organization of this hospital, everyone was so polite. I would definitely recommend Lite´n Free and the doctor to future patients. The only detail I would put my finger on was the need of translations at times since not all of the staff knew very much English.

My first impression of Dr. de la Garza was that he was very outgoing and friendly. I was amazed that he came out on a Sunday night to meet with me. He made me feel very comfortable and put me at ease. I was impressed with the doctor as well as the rest of the staff all the way. There was never a moment where I wished I wasn´t doing this. My patient coordinator made me feel at ease before I even arrived and she was quick to accommodate my schedule. She even came in on Sunday, her day off to make sure everything was being taken care of.
The hospital rooms at OCA Hospital were so much better than US hospitals. The hospital´s hotel room was about a 3 star. It was so nice to be attached right to the hospital. My stay was above all expectations. The private hospital room was fantastic, it was big enough to be two rooms and it had a large screen TV. I definitely didn´t expect the room to be like this. The service was very good as well. They checked on me a lot and made sure I was comfortable. I would absolutely recommend Lite´n Free and Dr. de la Garza to future patients, without a doubt! My experience was much better than anticipated all the way around.

My first impression of Dr. Javier de la Garza was that he was very likable, looked and was knowledgeable. He has an excellent aftercare program, and before surgery tells you the pros and cons.
All the staff were professional at all times. They met all my expectations and beyond. Their appearance was impeccable; neat, well groomed and helpful beyond all expectations. Lite´n Free are 100% better than the US. The only thing I was missing would have been a lounge chair in the hotel room, apart from that everything was super and I would absolutely recommend it to any future patients.

Dr. de la Garza seemed very polite and approachable the first time I met him and my impression became more positive along the way. Especially because he came and checked on me several times after surgery. He informed me about all the possible risks of this surgery and is very thorough. I was very impressed with the surgeon, anesthesiologist and all of the nurses. I went there by myself and I felt I was in great hands the whole time!

Dr. Javier de la Garza is a very nice and knowledgeable surgeon. My first impression of him was very good, and only got better. He is very straight to the point and explains everything about the whole process, and made sure I understood everything very well. He raises your spirit and lets you know how important after care is in order to be successful.
My expectations were met in an excellent manner while I was there, I loved the service. I wished I could stay longer, everyone there were so nice and humane that you forgot you were in a hospital. You would think you were staying in a hotel of the rich and famous by the way they treated you. I think Dr. de la Garza is a very warm and kind doctor. He was very thorough in explaining all the positives and negatives of the Lap Band procedure. He is very willing to sit with you and answer all your questions and appease your fears or doubts. He also has a very nice sense of humor.
