Indukumar Sonpal Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.

Met DR.Sonpal on July 17, 2002. Seems nice he was casual and made some jokes. Office staff was very nice. Had to wait about 30 min. to weigh in and go over info with office girl but Dr. was ready and waiting for consult which only took about 10 min. and was not really what I expected, it was much easier!!!! Seems to know alot about the field will update more later...

Dr Sonpal was very direct and to the point. He was a man of few words and he was about business.

I have only seen Dr sonpal once so my impression of him is the same.

The office staff was very nice and helpful. THey were understanding and friendly.

The surgeon was a little hard to understand at times because his english wasn't the best.This is what I like the least.

Aftercare is emphasized quite a bit during PAT and there are many examples given. However the information booklet, though chock full of stuff that's good, was a bit overwhelming to me.

The aftercare program seems to be organized and together but a little complicated to try to put together in my mind all the requirements for eating and stuff.

I rate Dr Sonpal as good because I like the fact that he is serious about what he's doing.

I believe surgical competence and bedside manner go hand in hand because even if you complete your surgery successfully you still may need that extra encouragement or kind word to help you through the pain and questions you may have.

Dr. Sonpal was very very kind - and willing to answer any questions. He had a genuin smile, and made me feel very confortable. I also had Dr. Linda Paterson in the opperating room. She stopped in to check on me every day that I was in the hospital. She was caring and very interested in every aspect of what I was feeling or going through. The Nurses as St. Vincents Charity Hospital were WONDERFUL! they were very attentive, and quick with pain medication. They did not make me feel like a whining complaining person, but cared that my pain was taken care of. It was a good experience.
The doctors stressed the Post op support groups, and other things they have to offer, such as clothing exchange, and workout room -they gave us a 24 hour line to call for any questions, or concerns - and a medical card in case anything should happen while I am out of town. I felt that after researching thees doctors they were surgically competent, with much experience, and low complications rate.. and thier bedside manner was wonderful as weel. I would recommend them to future patients in a heartbeat.

In my consultation with Dr. Sonpal, my husband and I found him to be very delightful. He had a great sense of humor and really made us feel relaxed.

I really like Dr. Sonpal. I have been to see him 3 times now. Each and everytime was interesting. Hes got a great sense of humor. Hes a little nosey...ehehehhe!!! But I guess he should be. I trust him with my life completely.

On the day I met Dr. Sonpal, he was running a little over an hour behind schedule. So although I felt our meeting was a bit rushed, he seemed to be very pleasant and caring. What was most important to me is that he seemed very thourough in his assessment of me as a patient and I felt comfortable with his knowledge of what was being done. Again, although our time was rushed, he still had time to throw in a bit of humor which makes me feel very comfortable with his bed-side manner. He made it very clear that this is not a short process and that surgery is not the completion of the process. I have to continue with follow-up appointments as long as they are needed. This falls under structured aftercare, which I was very concerend about. I didn't want to be part of a mass experiment where the focus was on the surgery alone. I think I made a good choice. I just wish they would hire another surgeon so that the surgery dates aren't so far from the consultation dates.

Dr. Sonpal was very informative. The girls that work there are extremely nice, helpful, and seem to some how know exactly what we go through.

Very nice! The staff worked wonderfully with each person and gave a very thorough informational meeting beforehand.

Dr. Sonpal was wonderful, he made me feel very at ease with this, he is a kind and has a great sence of humor even though dealing with such a big surgery, my husband was not able to meet with him before surgery and the day of surgery Dr. Sonpal put him at ease.

Dr.Sonpal bedside manner is wonderful, he made me smile.

Dr. Sonpal seems very nice. I think that I have spent a total of 15 minutes with him when I was not under anaesthesia (spelling?). His staff was extremely wonderful and spent time with me. Most helpful however, were the volunteers who have been through this surgery. They truly understand what you are going through.
