Dr Fedorak had very nice bedside manor I will say that as a person I liked him a lot BUT after having Lap Band Surgery, I had a hernia in my diaphram pre surgery, did fine for a while. Then I started having issues with my band. I went to my appointments was told everything was fine. My insurance changed and I was forced to see another doctor I am not going to name him because I feel its professionally unfair to do that. I told him the same things I told Dr Fedorak, I figured that everything would be just fine and I would get a fill and go about my business. See I had my Band for about 3 years, I had heart burn for 1 yr. I was put on Nexium and had some stomach pain. I was told by Fedorak everything was fine and as expected. My new doctor inquired about the hernia, because it was in my notes as having one but it was never fixed. We talked a while he sent me immediately to get a scan, we found out my band had slipped and the hernia was never repaired, also my gallbladder needed to come out. So I now have to have corrective surgery, I have decided to have the Lap Band removed have corrective surgery and get a Gastric Bypass (yeah no more nasty fills), Fedorak said he would never take it out it would be there for life. I guess I am just a little jaded I feel that the issues I had could have been caught had Fedorak ordered some simple tests and taken care of the hernia. I am sure Fedorak is a good doctor, I would just suggest to you that if you feel something is wrong dont let him tell you its ok, press the issue until you feel better about it, you dont want to find yourself having to get corrective surgery if it can be prevented or caught early.
Dr Fedorak is the best! I had my surgery at Penrose main September 28 It is now October first And I feel awesome he came to see me everyday 2 times a day. Made sure I was ok before surgery talked to me and my husband you could not ask for a better doctor. The staff was awesome the nurses were so nice and caring and did everything to make sure me and my husband were comfortable. Not only did he do my rny he also fixed a genetic defect I had that my intestines were not were they belonged as well as my appendix. So I got my RNY and also my gallbladder and appendix removed. LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM AS A SURGEON HE IS SIMPLY THE BEST!
My surgeon is Dr Fedorak, who does surgery at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. I am so sorry to tell you that he is the best!! I really can't say anything negative about him. He may seem a reserved if you see his picture on the webb site. Yet he is very kind and wants only what is best & safest for you, his patient. I sent him information from recent tests that I had and he did look at all of the information, when he saw me he had a decision about which surgery would be best & safest for me. Both my husband and I went to see him and we both liked his straight forwardness in answering all our questions. When you are meeting with Dr Fedorak you feel that you are his number one priority at that moment and he available to answer any all of your questions and allay your fears. Something I really liked was that not only does he do bariatric surgery but his group including him are the trauma doctors for Penrose Hospital and he does other types of surgery as well as assists his fellow partners in surgery. He is sensitive to the needs of bariatric patients in all areas including aftercare. There is a structured aftercare program that meets at Penrose Hospital. I felt safe with Dr Fedorak doing my surgery and his overall bedside manner is kind, thoughtful and competent. He is a TEN in my book!!

Let me just say this, Dr. Ihor Fedorak, is the most true to life, personable, yet raw and honest surgeon I have ever had. (and let me be real when I say I've had more surgeries than can be count on 2 hands)
I first met Dr. Fedorak as a lap band removal patient. I had been complaining about the band for years to my former surgical team and they continued to tell me it was me. I was in Dr. Fedoraks office all of 10 minutes and he was able to determine that the band needed to be removed and immediately. I had a surgery date within a week, recovering quickly from the procedure.
Some six months later I returned to Dr. Fedorak ready for a revision and to have the full RNY in an open procedure. The surgery was to say the least a success! My recovery has been outstanding. Dr. Fedorak has been there every step of the way even when my questions felt absurd and were late at night or seemingly at the wrong time. He was highly communicative and open to all the questions my husband and I had. He was blatantly( which I respect more than sugar coating) honest about the risks and complications given my previous surgeries and scar tissues, as well as heart condition at my age.I can genuinely say that he is the first surgeon to operate on me not once but twice and for me to have NO, I repeat, NO complications post op. That in and of itself is a blessing.
He is extremely by the book and goes the extra mile to ensure that recovery and all of the aspects of the surgery and aftercare have gone well.
The program for my surgery was also amazing, the team that supports Dr. Fedorak administratively has ensured that I had all the necessary tools for success and they continue to follow through with the program on a consistent basis. I have a great team including a therapist and nutritionist as well as nurse staff that is a great support as well.
Overall, I would be remissed to sing anything other than PRAISES about Dr. Fedorak if you are in the local area and looking to any type of surgery in terms of weightloss and other procedures I highly highly recommend Dr. Ihor Fedorak, a doctor of comptency, excellence, high regards for his patients, and a skilled surgeon.
To add there is nothing negative to say about my surgeon at least in my experience. Therefore I consider my opinion to be both informative and 100 % accurate.

I love Dr.Fedorak! He has a wonderful bedside manner and is very thorough in answering all of my questions. He doesn't rush me at appointments, and is always on time! I originally had a lapband put in by another surgeon in 6/07, and after 2.5 years, it needed to come out. Dr.Fedorak took it out, let me heal, and did an open RNY revision on me. I needed an open procedure because of a lot of scar tissue and previous abdominal surgeries. I also appreciate the other doctors in the office at C.S. Surgical Associates. All are caring and thorough, even if they are not your own doctor. Five stars from me!
Dr Fedorak was wonderful! My first impression of him was that I was in awe of him. Not because of anything to do with my wls, but because I first met him when he saved my husbands life after a tragic work accident, when no one believed he could be saved. When I decided to go ahead with gastric bypass surgery, I specifically asked him if he did these surgeries. He did, and they are a center of excellence as well. He is warm and kind. I had zero complications. They do indeed have a structured aftercare program. EXCELLENT choice for wls surgeon!
I am very happy with my surgeon. From the first appointment and now through the surgery I continue to be very happy with my decision. He is very down to earth and has explained EVERYTHING!!! He answered all of my questions and listened to all of my concerns. I am a RN and am picky about any type of MD - so you can only imagine how picky I was about this decision and what surgeon to choose. I couldn't be happier with my choice of surgeons. His office staff have been wonderful as well. He has a very structured aftercare program that includes nutritional couseling, psychological counseling, bariatric coordinator through the hospital, and the Dr. and his staff. I also have to say that Dr. Fedorak has great surgical knowledge, surgical competence, and bedside manner. I do not regret my decision.
