Initial consult, very informative, answered all questions. His office staff was a must they worked so hard to get my precert for surgery. I could not have had my surgery if not for them. I had an overall great experience with my surgeon & his office staff. I would recommend them. My surgeon has a different beside manner, but I wanted someone with skill, I didn't care if we made friends or not. He explained the risk & benefits of the surgery very well.

My first impression of Dr. Merriman is great. He throughly explained the procedure to me and what I could expect after the surgery. He also told me that I might be the "one", the one that does not do well with the surgery or the one that could possibly die. I know this sounds morbid, but I appreciated his honesty with me in that fact. To me, he is very confident in his abilities to perform the procedure. He said that this is a routine procedure for him to perform. His office staff is WONDERFUL and so very helpful. You can call them 10 times a day to ask questions, and they are always courteous and professional. You would never be able to tell if you have aggraveted them by calling so much. They will help you in any way they can. I am nervous about having the surgery, but excited about it to. I think Dr. Merriman is a good choice for a surgeon.

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF HIM WAS A FORWARD AND DIRECT PERSON. HIS OFFICE STAFF WAS VERY NICE AND HELPFUL. DR. MERRIMAN IS A VERY EXPERIENCED MAN AND KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING.
I HAD NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. HE IS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE AFTERCARE TREATMENT IN LOSING WEIGHT. HE WAS VERY UPFRONT ABOUT THE RISKS AND POSSIBILITIES ABOUT THE SURGERY. OVERALL I WOULD RATE HIM ON A SCALE OF 1-10 A 10.

My first impression of Dr. Merriman was that he was a nice man who is concerned about his patients. His staff is equally nice. Linda was so sweet. She delt with my constant calling and it never seemed to bother her. She answered all of my questions without any hesitation.

Dr. Merriman was very confident when I first met him. I felt safe having him perform my surgery.

I have not met Dr Merriman yet! His office's procedure is to have all testing done and get insurance approval before having the patient meet w/ the Dr. Very understandable since he is very popular and does surgery 4 days a week. His staff is very sweet, patient and willing to answer any questions.

I ATTENDED A GROUP CONSULTATION HEADED BY DR. MERRIMAN. HE WAS VERY NICE, EXTREMELY PATIENT AND VERY THOROUGH. HIS STAFF IS WONDERFUL. THEY REALLY EMPHASIZE AFTERCARE AND DO EXPECT THAT YOU FOLLOW THEIR DIRECTIONS. WHAT DO I LIKE LEAST ABOUT DR. MERRIMAN? THE THING I LIKE LEAST IS THE FACT THAT HE IS IN SHREVEPORT...AND I AM IN DALLAS...3 HRS AWAY! EVERYTHING IS SO STRUCTURED...HE REQUIRES SEVERAL TESTS AND CONSULTS PRIOR TO SURGERY...AND THE AFTERCARE PROGRAM IS VERY STRUCTURED TOO. HE ADDRESSED THE RISKS OF SURGERY AND WE RECEIVED AN INFORMATION PACKET THAT WENT OVER THE RISKS AS WELL. I AM VERY HAPPY THAT DR. MERRIMAN IS MY SURGEON. I FEEL THAT HE IS VERY COMPETENT AS A SURGEON AND THAT HE HAS GOOD BEDSIDE MANNER.

I have been on this surgery path for nearly a year. Due to some local complications, I have not been able to meet Dr. Merriman until last week. Meanwhile, I have been getting preop evaluations done. I really was impressed with Dr. Merriman's understanding of the obesity issue and his approach to surgery. I feel confident in his abilities and look forward to having surgery. He has a good sense of humor and a whole person approach, including extensive follow-up care that I really appreciate. And his office staff is wonderful! Kim and Donna and Patti and Danielle really rock!

I really can't say enough about Dr. Merriman. He's really smart and cares about what he is doing. And ethical. He has taken a lot of time recently to travel around the country and see what other bariatric surgeons are doing and has modified his surgery a little to help improve recovery. He is also a nice person to talk to.

Dr. Merriman is very personable. He seemed willing to spend as much time as it took to talk to me and make sure I had asked all the questions I had about the surgery, what to expect, and what to do afterwards. He also took care to make sure that I was aware of the all risks involved without scaring me to death. His office staff was also friendly and helpful.

Oh wow, what can I say? I love Dr. Merriman! He is my hero, he gave me a new life and I can never thank him enough. I would recommend EVERYONE go to him! lol

His office staff is the best! They were so patient with me! AND all my questions! They handled the insurance company and had me approved within 3 days!

He has a wonderful program from the first day you walk in the door. He really stresses after care and works with a team of people including dieticians, and a psychologist that has HAD the surgery. He also offers several different support groups depending on your need.

Most of all he GETS it. He understands the things that your have gone through to get to the point that your at (surgery) I have NEVER felt rushed when I had an appointment with him. He clearly explained the risks and benefits of this and other baratric surgeries and why this may work for me when Gastroplasty didn't. He is so caring and understanding without being judgmental or condescending.

I would rate him very highly, if your in the area you owe it to yourself to check him out and his program. At the very least you should attend his informative meeting. Its free and FULL of good information!
