I think he's great, his staff can be a bit stuffy, and uncooperative, for example, they say we'll call you back in a week, it takes 3 or 4, or myself calling them.

My first impression was that he wanted all who were considering WLS that there were plus sides and negatives. He seemed caring and was not just a surgeon who did the surgery to make mone, he seemed to care a greal deal, my impression of him never changed the whole way through and even after the surgery. His staff is caring, wonderful, compassionate and fun. Future patients should know he is willing to liaten to ANY questions you have. Talk to him, he cares. Aftercare is emphasized generally through the RN at the office, but we had recieved booklets from the office with specific instructions on the hows and whys. He most defiantley assesed the risks of the surgery, and answered even the hardest questions the best he could. I would have this surgery again in a heartbeat and with noone other than Dr. Eid. His bedside manner and competence are of the same, he was wonderful to me, my family and I could see his staff has much respect for him. I wouldnt have changed a thing about my experience.

Dr. Eid's initial contact with his patients is done in a small group setting. it is a 3 hour informational meeting (2hours w/ PA and 1 hour with dr) very nice because others asked questions i haden't thought of! Dr. Eid tried to answer every question before they were asked. Very thurough and informative. with all the research i did on the internet, there was still so much i haden't known. He is a very nice man and very selective(with over 600 rou-n-y done and a 0 mortality rate I might add) He also has a low infection rate as well. He has done extensive research in Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrom and the fostered my decision to travel the 2 hours to pittsburgh to have the surgery done and well as his specialization in the laproscopic wls.
DR Eid suggests numerous postop visits and said people tend to succeed better when they follow up with him.
Although i have not yet had the surgery, i would suggest that anyone in the area see Dr. Eid he is definately a professional in thsi business.

Dr. Eid is probably the nicest, most thorough physician I ever met. He took time to answer any and all questions I had, plus he even took time to talk to my overly worried mother just before the operation. My husband couldn't be at the hospital with me for surgery, so in addition to talking to my mother in the waiting room he also took the time to telephone my husband. He and his staff are so knowledgable, and they have a whole program dedicated to helping people after this surgery.

I have excessive scar tissue, so Dr. Eid had to take extra caution with my surgery. Other physicians may have just done it open, but Dr. Eid took it on as a challenge to do the laproscopy without having to open me up. I would recommend him to anyone.

I met Dr. Eid at a post-workshop meeting on January 21, 2003 and again at my pre-op meeting on January 31, 2003.

He seems very nice...very caring. He made it clear that we are partners in my surgery and weight loss. He assured me that he will "be there" for me after the surgery and I should stay in touch with him...contact him with problems or questions.

Dr. Eid discussed the benefits and risks of surgery. At the second meeting, we talked a little more about possible complications (since I recently found out that I have a hiatal hernia that will be repaired before the gastric bypass -- both during the same session). He was very straight forward with me and I feel confident about his skills.

My only "negative" impression so far is with the staff. The secretary called to say that Dr. Eid would not be available on my scheduled surgery date. So she moved me up by a week (yay!) Twenty minutes later, she calls to say that she couldn't move his patients UP...so I was moved BACK by four weeks! I was bummed but later became very irritated when I found out that other patients had been moved up...I don't like it when people are not honest with me.

This situation does not reflect directly on my surgeon...I'm still "good" with him. In the end, the timing is probably better anyway.

My first impression of Dr. Eid was very good. He made me feel relaxed and calm. He seemed to really care about his patients and is a firm believer of doctor/patient confidentiality and bond. he takes what he does very seriously. My impression hasn't changed over time because he is still as compassionate and really knows what he's talking about. I would recommend him to any and everyone. He really emphasizes on aftercare. He's there for you every step of the way. He doesn't pawn other doctrs or nurses onto you. He personally is interested in how you are doing and feeling. his aftercare plan is very structured and as long as you follow it eactly, you will have very good results (I'm proof of that). While I was in Pre-op he very matter of factly touched on the risks and adverse reactions that could happen from this procedure. He informed me of his statistics (good and bad) and assured me that he would do everyhting in his power to make sure all goes well. that really put my mind at ease. Overall on a scale of 1-1000, I would rate Dr. Eid at 2000. That's just how good he is. And both his surgical competence and bedside manner are and were excellent. I honestly could not find anything negative about him or the procedure. I hope everyone else who deals with him feels the same. But not everyone's situation is the same. This is just my personal experience.
