R.I.P. Dr. JB...
No one knows what a person truly goes through... And its no ones business.. He had his own struggles like we all did... We were addicted to food and he had his own demons... We are no one to judge or look down...
He was a great professional doctor who saved my life... i had the gastric bypass in 2007 and here i am almost 11 yrs later and i managed to lose and keep off 275+ lbs...
May you rest in piece.. I Love you and thank you forever... God bless him and his family xoxoxo

I had the gastric bypass in Dec 2007. I've lost over 270lbs. Started at 406, now im weighing in at 135-137... Ive kept it off... Stick to the rules and you will succeed... Good Luck...

I LOVE Dr. Jean-Baptiste. He was the first doctor I consulted with about the surgery and I knew right there and then he was the one. He was great. I had no complications what-so-ever. Today's my 3 year Surgiversary. I've lost a total of 242lbs. First God, than Dr. JB... Without the both this wouldn't have been possible. God bless him.
I had no idea this wonderful man passed. I am so saddened to hear the news. I know he had some legal issues, but other than that he was one of the nicest doctors I ever had the pleasure of knowing. His bedside manner was wonderful and he always asked about my family. I have missed having him as my doctor and I know he will be missed by many. May he Rest In Peace and many thought filled prayers go out to his young children.

Dr. Jean-Baptiste is a caring, competant and patient doctor. His credentials are amazing, he trained at the top schools and had a fellowship in advanced bariatric and laparscopic surgery at UPenn so he is up on all the latest techniques! I haven't found a more thorough surgeon...all the tests he puts you through are because he wants no surprises. He makes an effort to know all his patients by first name and in a short time has built his center to be extremely comprehensive, adding experienced staff and experts to help all his patients. He even has a bariatric post-op nurse on staff now! His support groups are well attended and he has a 100% success rating from all the surgeries he has performed. Now that I am a post-op I can tell you this, that Dr. J-B is a gifted, skilled and talented surgeon. In addition, he is a compassionate and comforting with a wonderful bedside manner. It is rare to find someone with so many great qualities all wrapped into one package! I am so glad I found such a talented, smart surgeon, and I am confident that we have forged a life long relationship! I feel wonderful and it's all because he did a great job! Kudos to Dr. J-B and his entire surgical & office team!

Dr. Jean-Baptiste is the finest surgeon you will ever meet. His bedside manner is so gentle that I would never see anyone else. He is so professional as a doctor that I fully recommend him. I think he cares about every patient. I lost 80 pounds because of Dr. Jean-Baptiste. It is the best thing I ever did in my whole life. Weight loss surgery is highly recommended for anyone with diabetes. It was rough at first, but I also want to consult him about another procedure. Thank you Dr. Jean-Baptiste and thank you God (and I am not religious), but I thank whoever is up there is heaven looking down upon me for everything that Dr. Jean-Baptiste did for me. He saved my life.

I am in complete and utter shock over the mess that Dr. Jean-Baptiste has gotten into. I am so disappointed with him as far as these recent events. I thought he was an excellent surgeon and I got amazing results from my gastric bypass surgery done in 2006. I weighed just over 200lbs (as I have a very small and petite frame) and now I weigh 105lbs and I am in absolutely perfect health...I mean "PERFECT"!!! I've managed to keep my weight off and have had absolutely no problems whatsoever. Everyone is always so shocked when I reveal that I had the surgery and I always refer them to Dr. Jean-Baptiste based on my experience with him. He and his staff gave me excellent advice, his staff was always courteous and helpful to me. He came off as a very confident surgeon and very sure of himself...I felt safe in his hands and he was able to predict my post-surgery weight and he was dead on! I'm glad to have known him before the skeletons started coming out the closet or before his problems got worse. Such a talented surgeon...just to throw it all away...what a waste...and so young with a full life still ahead of him! I hope is uses this experience to turn his life around and turn this into something positive. There is a way for him to redeem himself and earn back some of the respect of the medical community. He needs to be honest with himself about his problems and use it to help other doctors out there that may be struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. This could be a serious problem in the medical community and it is the patients that are being put at risk.
Yes, Dr. JB is GONE...I was so upset, I was his patient for over 6 years, had major problems in July, had to have my band taken out and he was no where to be found...BUt, my gasto doctor recommended another surgeon Dr. Sedak, OMG I fell in love with him...He's very gentle just like JB...He took out my band and now I'm scheduled for the sleeve...Couldn't be happier with him...My heart goes out for dr. Jb, he's really screwed up his life due to drinking...He has MAJOR LEGAL problems now, I just feel so bad but he made his bed, now he's got to deal with it, Sorry to say....I still wish him the best of luck...

What Happened to Dr. Jean Baptiste? I am a patient of his…. Or So I thought… but he’s gone AGAIN! I thought I was on my way to getting authorized for my Weight Loss Surgery last year …. But then he disappeared. At first I couldn’t get any response from his office… then I saw on the OH boards that he was moving to a different location. Shame on me for staying with him I guess… I did have my band surgery with him earlier this year, but now I am having issues so I tried to contact him and he is NOT AVAILABLE TO HIS PATIENTS AGAIN! Now he seems to be in trouble I saw this article in the Star Ledger:

If you are in the same boat as I was it’s time to give up the SHIP! I need a doctor who I know will be there for me when I’m having problems, or just for my band adjustments and annual blood work. I feel awful for those patients who think they are in process to get their surgery with him. I’ve been there. I started calling around and many of the bariatric surgeons don’t take on Patients who had the surgery with another doctor.
Be Proactive in your own health care. If you are a patient of Dr Jean Baptiste it’s time to switch to a surgeon who will be there for you Before, During and AFTER your SURGERY to make sure your weight Loss Journey is a Success!
