I had an open Rouxen Y procedure done in December of 2002. I was thrilled with Dr. Fallang and his staff, my procedure went smoothly and my recovery was quick. I went from a size 26 to a size 8 in less than a year. HOWEVER during the following years I began to have complicatons. Unbelievable pain, rushed to the er in an ambulance several times only to be told they could find nothing wrong. Gall bladder removal, serious iron deficiency, B12 deficiency. Finally 2 years ago I went to the er again with excruciating pain and found that my entire bowel had twisted upon itself. When the surgeon opened me (within 20 minutes of my entering the hospital) my intestine was grey and cold from lack of blood supply. He later told my fiance that within the past year he had performed this same surgery on 10 of Dr Fallang's patients - only 5 had survived. I was told that Dr Fallang does the actual bypass surgery himself, but has teams who open, prep and close the patient, allowing him to do more surgeries. He supposedly did 24 operations the day of my surgery alone. While I am grateful for the surgery, the weight loss, and the return of my life, I would caution patients to do a LOT of research on long-term post op issues before going to ANY surgeon for this procedure. And believe it or not, Yes, I would do it again, even knowing what I do now, I would just do a lot more looking around before I chose a surgeon.

I have not yet had a chance to meet with Dr. Fallang or his staff in person, but the staff was very friendly and helpful on the phone and by email.

12/26/02 I went to the orientation seminar on November 14th with my husband. We were both very impressed with Dr. Fallang's salemanship. He nearly convinced my husband that this was a good idea! MIRACLE! LOL The amount of information was almost overwhelming, but very helpful to a control freak like me. I am even more convinced now that this is the route for me.

My surgery was in 1998. Ten years later, my recollection is that my first impression of the doctor was that he didn't have time for the patient, and left the orientation and follow-up to his staff. The staff was very good, very thorough, and very professional. My memory of the doctor is that he was just very busy, and his role was as surgeon, nothing more. Future patients should be aware of that, and use the staff to the fullest extent possible. I think they have the expertise. They will not follow-up. If follow-up is what you are seeking, then you might want to find a different practice. I took charge of the follow-up myself -- seeking a nutritionist, psychological care when needed, exercise plan, etc. Ten years out, I have kept off the weight, I feel good, and have had minimal problems. The risks were addressed, in writing, and verbally. I researched a lot on my own also. The first few months after surgery I did have some minor issues, but easily taken care of. I would rate the practice, out of 10, at about 7.5 or 8; the surgeon, perhaps 7. I am most concerned with competence, and less with bedside manner. Although, I do believe the whole process should be transparent... nothing hidden on either side.

he is very \"down to earth\" kind of doctor.I haven't seen him in 8 yrs, they didn't want to see you after a few visits. They only wanted to see you after the surgery., you saw him in a seminar before the surgery.rn His office staff was very personable and helpful.Aftercare 9 yrs ago was just a few visits after the surgery. He addressed the risks at the learning seminar, and then his office manager went over them in detail at a visit before the surgery.I would rate him 8, I think surgical competence, and bedside manner are both very IMPORTANT to have, the patient needs to feel comfortable with the surgery, and it makes for a good a quick recovery when you have a personble doctor, who cares about you..rn Dr. Fallang was my doctor from Middletown Hospital, I just wish that he had other offices to make it more convienent for the patients. H e may them already, since ]t I'm writing this 9 yrs.post op., so things may have changel, for the best I hope..rnrnSherryhavernrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnh he had other rnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

From my initial phone call to Judy up to present, everything has been TOP NOTCH. Dr Fallang has done several friends and people from my area. And..we are 1.5 hours away from Dayton. Worth the travel time.rnHe is very personable and goes over EVERYTHING. He does a 5 hour seminar pre-op, and then one on one for personal concerns. He tells you the good, bad and ugly. He tells you he is not perfect, but he knows his stuff.rnDon, his PA is also very helpful and kind. The entire staff is very pleasant and supportive.rnEVERYONE had a wonderful bedside manner. I never met one person who wasn't positive and caring during my entire stay. They made you feel very special and the care was over the top. I can not think of one negative event. I was not rushed to go home, but I was ready the 3rd day post-op.rnI am very grateful for an uneventful surgery and support. I live too far away to attend any local support group they may offer. But my handbook states my guidelines for success.rnThank you Dr Fallang and all staff for taking good care of me! I am very pleased.

Dr. Fallang is one of the most dedicated and caring people I have ever met. Because of my age and extreme weight, I was a risk for him to accept but he agreed to do the surgery and saved my life.rnrnI have had no problems afterwards that I did not cause myself......and that was only when I got careless and had the \"dumping\" syndrome.rnrnI cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Fallang and his staff. His office and surgery are performed at the beautifully redone Elizabeth Place in Dayton....you are in for a big surprise when you see the operating rooms! Afterwards, you are treated to a private room with 3 nurses assigned to you plus a bouquet from the doctor.rnrnI read the part about mentioning something negative to validate this opinion but for the life of me, I haven't been able to come up with something.rnrn

I went to the session with Dr. Fallang back in Nov, 2006 and was very impressed by him. He went over everything and stuck around to answer every and all questions we had. He even took me on a personal tour of the facility. He is very caring and the staff seem so great as well. rnrnKnowing that many who work for him also have had the surgery performed and could answer my questions first hand made me even more comfortable in my decision to have my wls done here.rnrnI was recommended by an old co-worker who has had her surgery done by Dr. Fallang and she's had nothing but great results as well.rn

Dr. Fallang is GREAT!!! He really knows what he is doing. All the people that work for him are great also. I would highly recommend him. Aftercare is questionable. I have to rely on phone conversations w/ his physicians and on ObesityHelp.com to answer my concerns. He was very adament about the risks of surgery. Again, I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Fallang and his staff are terrific!!! From the moment I stopped into their facility they made me feel welcome and valued.rnrn I knew my surgery would be a self-pay and Dr. Fallang's staff was instrumental in giving me information so that I'd be able to make an informed decision about which surgeon/facility to have my procedure completed at. When I let the staff know that I was already scheduled at the Barix Clinic in Groveport they were fast to assure me that Barix Clinic was a good choice. They did however convince me that it would be a good idea to attend Dr. Fallang's informational session and I'm SO glad that I did.rnrnThe session gave me a chance to learn about many procedures and get to know Dr. Fallang in a small group setting. He was more than willing to take time to answer all questions and clarify information as requested.rnrnI was thrilled with my entire procedure - from the ease of scheduling to the excellent care his medical staff provided before and after my surgery. Since this was a self-pay I was even more thrilled with the split-billing his facility offers...not to mention having him repair my acid reflux problem and my hietal hernia. I feel like a NEW person!!!

My first impression of Dr. Fallang was very positive. I found him to be very informative, knowledgeable and compassionate. I found his staff to be the same way. After my surgery, his staff was great about giving me dietary guidelines. Dr. Fallang also went into great detail regarding the risks of the surgery. I have had a wonderful experience with Dr. Fallang
