Fantastic surgeon! I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Elliott and his team was great too. All went very well, very thorough and caring.

I have only met my surgeon twice. He seems to really know what he is doing, and was very accomodating getting me a date for surgery. His staff is very knowlegable and helpful. So far as I know, Dr. Elliott is the only doctor at my hospital that is doing the laproscopic RNY, so I feel lucky to have had him assigned to me. He sent me to a pre-op nutrition appointment, and I will have follow up as well with the nutritionist. He was very helpful in showing me how the surgery is performed, and what to expect, and that yes there are risks, but there also risks in not having the surgery too. Overall he had a good bedside manner- which is important- he was not your typical surgeon, he actually had a personality ;0), and seemed very open to questions and concerns, and addressed them all. I can honestly say, so far I have nothing negetive to say. the process has moved so quickly, I have not had any trouble so far.

I had an appointment with another surgeon at Madigan Army Hospital, and due to misschedualing, he was not there for my appointment. Dr Carter was informed and immediately came in and answered all my questions. It took an hour to accomplish this, and he never tried to rush me once. Although I am not sure at this point who will preform my surgery at Madigan, I have full confidence in Dr Carter. Dr Porter is really nice and informative also, I have met him once. Both surgeons are very patient and seem to truly care. The major set back here is the waiting list. I had my initial appointment March 17, and as of today (Aug.13,2001) have not heard a word of when my surgery date is. The support group is very informative, and interactive. I recommend it to all the preops waiting for a date, it is helping me to not loose patience!
