My first impressions of Dr. Ferrari were very good ones. He seemed very confident and concerned for my health. I know that most people would tend to be "put off" by a surgeon that is not much for hand holding, but since I come from a medical family (1 doctor, 3 nurses) I had many resources for the surgical side of this and didn't have many questions or concerns about it. Strange enough, Dr. Ferrari kind of reminds me of my father.
I love Dr. Ferrari's office staff! Blanca and Lulu are so patient and kind. They really take the time to explain everything and answer your questions.
Since I have only met him the one time for the consultation, I cannot rate him on surgery or aftercare at this time. But check back after December 7, 2004 and I will certainly let you know!!
At first meeting I thought that he was not really interested in helping me. I was taking quite a few different medications and I am 57 years old. I was very disappointed after our first meeting. Then I began reading the profiles of some of his patients and talking to some others and realized that he is just very cautious. When I finally decided to have the surgery I knew that he would be the right surgeon for me. He wants his patients to realize how serious this surgery is and he does not want you to take this lightly. His office staff is great. No question is too small. They are so helpful whenever you call. They answered a lot of my questions. I love his staff. Whenever I went in for my pre-op visit, Luly, informed me of everything that I could expect post -op. She answered just about all of my questions and then I got to meet with Dr Ferrari. It was a very good meeting. He is very matter of fact and gets right to the point. I liked that about him. He was great. I felt like I was in very good hands. He is very experienced in this procedure and I knew that I would be fine. His surgical competence and bedside manner are both great. I felt very comfortable with him after my surgery.
Dr. Ferrari was very quiet and serious. I liked him because he was very informative and believes in his work. His office staff is wonderful (all of them). Blanca is very sweet and helps alot.
When I had a problem with the stricture, I paged Dr. Ferrari in the evening and he called me back within 2 minutes. He is very concerned about his patients health and aftercare.
There is always someone to talk to if you have any questions or concerns. The staff always gets back to you right away. I have been very happy with my decision for my surgeon.
After finding Dr. Ferrari through this website, I made the journey from Dallas to Houston. Our meeting was brief, in fact all of our meetings were brief. I stayed in the hospital for 7 days because of too much blood drainage. I was in 12 Oaks Hospital and I have to say, the staff was the worst. The surgery hurt, hurt, hurt. The nurses there was less than sympathetic. I was finally released and have since recovered and feel about 75% normal. I suppose Dr. Ferrari did have more medical knowledge rather than bedside manner.
My first impression of Dr. Spivack was that no matter what he will tell you the truth. The office staff was pleasant, no one did anything out of the ordinary. There was not anything that I didn't like about Dr. Spivack. We didn't go over after care because I will reschedule based on the info that was given. I went in for Lap Band, but Doc said that I would be a better canidate for Gastric Bypass instead or simply no surgery at all. The risks of surgery were discussed at the seminar that is required before the office visit. on a scale of 1-10 I would rate him a 9.
I changed to Dr. Ferarri because of his experience! I met one of his patients and also visited her while in the hospital and everything was fine. Dr. Spivack is a great doc and knows his stuff but i found out that most of his experience is with the Lap Band which I originally wanted, so anyone for the Lap Band go to him he's great! Dr. Ferrari also knows his stuff and has more experience with the GB so that's my choice.
Dr. Ferrari and his staff are outstanding!!!
The first time I met them, I went with a friend and thought I was going to use another doctor. After seeing and talking with him and his staff, I had a strong feeling that he should be the doctor who performed this surgery. Dr. Ferrari wandered why I had so many questions (I had a ton) I guess I wanted him to know I would be his ideal patient and that I was educated on it all. I think he took it to mean I was unsure. All the patients that I have spoken with say he is awesome not only in his skill but his caring attitude. My date is May 11th and I am ready to roll!!
On a scale from 1 to 10, I felt Dr. Ferrari's office was a 10. They were nice and helpful. One office person who really stands out is a woman named Blanca, who has been so comforting to me. I am such a weiner when it comes to surgery. I am so scared of the whole idea of it. She really makes me feel at ease. They addressed all fears I had.
