Dr. Ferrari was very professional. He listened to my questions, and to him there were no "dumb questions", and I felt immedietly at ease. He even helped my family members feel more comfortable about my decision to have the surgery. After the surgery, I continued to feel like I wasn't "just another patient". His office staff was fantastic, and very understanding, especially when I called every other day with questions! Overall, I would say he was a very good doctor. I did have a bit of pneumonia after the surgery, and at times it was difficult get ahold of him, but that is to be expected when he has other patients in other hospitals waiting for him to make his rounds. All in all, I highly recommend him.
My surgeon for my VBG was wonderful. He has very good bedside manners. He was pleasant and easy to deal with. The staff in his
office are very helpful.
My revision surgery cannot be done by Dr. Farerri, but I was assured that he will be present with his counterpart, Dr. Jakemeyer from NeWeigh.
There is definately an aftercare program at NeWeigh in which I will attend. Risks of the surgery were addressed.
Office staff is great! They answer questions quickly and accurately.
Dr. J. and Dr. F are both 10's on a scale of 1-10.
It is hard to describe my first impression of Dr. Ferrari. He was very busy and running late. The waiting room was FULL of people but I know that a lot of appointments and surgeries got pushed back due to Tropical Storm Alison which caused a lot of flooding. From our interview he seems very competent. The staff members at NeWeigh are great! I already knew a lot about the surgery and risks before I met the Dr. so there wasn't a whole lot to go over. He did do a preliminary exam and ordered some tests to be done before scheduling the surgery. I think talking to the other patients in the waiting room was very informative.
July 24th ~ I had my pre-op testing completed at the hospital and met with Dr. Ferrari that afternoon. There wasn't near as many people and it was a quick visit ( which I like). My surgery is scheduled for Aug 3rd. I will post after that and let you know how it went.
Dr.Ferrari was very quiet the first time I met with him. His staff was wonderful, making me feel very welcomed and answered all my questions. By the second visit with the Dr. I felt very confident that he was the surgeon for me. He has an aftercare program that I am unable to attend because I live so far away. I would rate Dr. Ferrari an overall 9.
My first impression of him, was that he was mild mannered. Soft spoken, but made sure I was very clear about the decision I am embarking upon. His nurse, was very helpful, and courteous. She went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable. The ladies at Neweigh, are also very professional. He did discuss the risk of this surgery, which I found to be helpful, not something that I liked discussing, but knew I needed to know...
This was only my first consultation with him, and overall I rate him as a 10.
Dr. Ferrari is awesome. I had surgery 03/05/01. My first impression of him was that he is somewhat quiet but very observant. He takes as much time as you need and answered all my questions and explained the surgery. He made me feel very comfortable and gave me a peace of mind. His mannerism is one of charm and I'm forever grateful I found him. It was well worth the trip from Austin. I found his staff to be very informative and willing to talk to me anytime I called with a question. Please feel free to email me if you want anymore information on him...KJarr26470@aol.com
I initially had a VBG in 95, performed by a different Dr. thru the Neweigh program, which is now in need of revision. Dr. Ferrari will perform my revision. Initially, I thought Dr. Ferrari to be careless and unavailable. After speaking with his office, I felt more frustrated and alone in my battle than ever before. I initially came to him with post VBG weight gain and dumping symptoms. I never saw him nor spoke with him. He just ordered an Upper GI which showed no problems. I was told to seek out a dietician. I was then told that he just didnt think he could help me because it seemed my body had just grown used to my smaller pouch and that I was going to gain the weight back. It happens. I went another year with my sense of failure and watching myself blow up like a ballon with no way to control it. I saw an article in the Neweigh newsletter referring to Debbie and her experiences which led to her needing a revision. I identified with her. I didnt know that a revsion was possible. I called Debbie up at Neweight and cried and begged for help. She talked to Dr. Ferrari and was able to schedule an EDG? and another Upper GI. Dr. Ferrari now thought that I might be having problems and that he could help me. This time my constant dumping symptoms were documented and my pouch was visably stretched. Dr. Ferrari scheduled an appt to meet with me. He now thinks that I am a good candidate for a revison. He was very open to my questions and for discussion. We talked about the issues relative to revisions and he made me no promises as far as weight loss. I know that this is my tool and that I have to make it work for me. The staff at Neweigh were wonderful except for one incident. I prefer discretion when at work. There was an incident where one of the staff workers faxed over some papers to me and neglected to inform me ahead of time that she was doing this, though I had specifically asked her to. Needless to say they passed thru the hands of at least 5 people before I received them. Other than that, I am satisfied thus far. I feel confident that I am in the best hands with my surgeon. My date is Aug 13. He seems very professional, knowledgable, experienced, and competent. I will follow up after my date with more info.
