When I met Dr. Weiss he was a quiet person. He tells you what you need to know and then he leaves. Half the time you saw him maybe 5-10 minutes at a time. I was kind of nervous about him because I felt that the Surgeon should get to know his patients. Than as time went on I started to have more faith in him and realized that he was one of the best surgeons for this type of surgery. His bed side manners was great. He really does care about his patients. In fact he had put my friend and I in the same room so we could support each other. I miss him since he moved to Auburn. I think anyone who has him as their Doctor is very lucky. Dr. Weiss is always up front about what could go wrong and when he says that you need to lose weight before the procedure the better it will be. You need to listen to him. I would rate him about a 9. He is top in my book. I would say that both was great. While I was in the hospitol he would take the time to check on us. Ask me how I was feeling and if there was anything that he could do for me. I wish that he was still in Syracuse so I could see him again. Good luck to anyone who has this procedure done. It is worth all the hard work from the staff and you. :)
I met Dr Weiss on March 17th . I was very comfortable with him and his staff. I am looking forward to my future visits .It is now 9/05 I had my surgery August 18th 2004. To date I have lost 170 lbs. I could not have done this without Dr.Weiss and his staff. I encourage anyone who is at the end of their rope fighting obesity to look into their program.Dr Weiss and Marcy are a great team.
Dr. Weiss seems very professional and was very careful to explain what the surgery was like and the risks. The office is very very nice and the staff seemed very nice as well. The staff really took the time to discuss things. This program seems to be one of the most structured ones I've investigated. I am hoping to get to know Dr. Weiss a little better. He seemed very busy when I sat with him and first impression was that he didn't have a very good bedside manner. So I'm not sure yet if it was because of his schedule or his personality. I don't like to judge people on first meetings. I've talked to his other patients and they love him. It must just have been the day or who knows, maybe I just expected more.
I meet Dr Weiss today for the first time and he is as incredible as everything I had read about him.He went over everything in great detail and spent a long time with my wife and I going over all the questions that we had,as of today he has preformed 175 surgeries and all have went well. He is the doctor that I want doing the surgery on me.I was told all the good and all the bad,he has also improved parts of the surgery process since he first started.
I can't tell you enough just how concerned and caring this man is and that every step of what you have to do before the surgery is to make sure that you are successful.
My first impression was very positive. Dr. Weiss is young but very experience and friendly. He seemed quite knowledgeable about the procedure.
My impression of him grew more positive over time.
His staff is quite professional and competent.
Well the only thing I did not like is that he had a lot of time off through the summer months but then again I was somewhat impatient.
Dr. Weiss and his team emphasize after care and long term life change all the time.
Yes, the program is pretty structured.
Yes, he is very clear about the possible risk. You do not go into this situation blindly.
Oh Dr. Weiss is a 10 in my book and gets an A++.
Both are great in Dr. Weiss. He is a very friendly doctor and has a great sense of humor.
When I first met Dr. Weiss, I was struck by how young he looks. I had been told by other patients of his that he does have a little boy face, but it was still a surprise. Because I had taken the time to research Dr. Weiss, I knew he is not as young as he looks, but he has more experience with WLS than most other surgeons in NYS. The rate of complications following his surgeries is way below average as well.
So, knowing that I will be in good hands, the rest is easy. He and his staff almost go out of their way to make me feel comfortable. I am given many opportunities to ask questions, and I am never made to feel guilty when I have not done everything in the just the way I should have.
The length of time it is taking me to get through "the system" (it has been over a year)is making me just a little crazy, but I guess in this case, taking too long is better than not taking long enough.
I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Weiss as a WL sugeon.
i liked him and his bedside manor. seems
compitent and was the only physician there that offered laproscopic. my impression of him has not changed. his office staff has been fine. the receptionists and people who handled the ins end of things are great. i had no problems with that end of things. the nutrionistlacks a....bedside manor and seems to either have little time to answer questions or just rushes. the nurse practitioner really runs the program. they have a super required educational session before you even see a doctor that helps to answer alot questions. they do suggest you see a support group. at my preadmission physical a nurse practitioner discussed the most with me. all my other appiontments seemed to be focused on how much weight i had either gained or lost. my health was never even really discussed until that last appt before surgery which left me feeling very unsettled. at this point i do not feel i know my surgeon well enough to tell you which is better in regards to bed side manner or surgical competence.
i am about 3 wks post-op now and i have to tell you that i think dr. weiss did a wonderful job and that i think he is a very nice surgeon. i had some questions on the sat after i came so i called there answering service. he himself called me back and was so nice and reassuring. it was wonderful.
