Teena Chavis Nurse Practioner (NP) NP

Teena Chavis is a board-certified nurse practitioner with clinical interests in cardiothoracic surgery. She received her master’s degree in nursing from Walden University and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has over 15 years of nursing experience in emergency, pediatrics and cardiothoracic intensive care.

Chavis believes that every patient has the right and obligation to participate in their plan of care and should be provided as much information as necessary for them to make the best decision for themselves. She believes in treating patients as she would want herself and her family to be treated. Chavis tries to put herself in the patient’s shoes when providing care. Chavis also enjoys interprofessional collaboration with a multidisciplinary team while providing evidence-based practice.

Outside of work, Chavis enjoys staying active, hiking and visiting new places. She also spends her free time on the sidelines of a baseball field cheering on her son's team.
