Jeanne Hutson Nurse Practioner (NP) MSN, MPH, NP-C, BC-ADM

Jeanne Hutson is a nurse practitioner specializing in medical and surgical weight management, nutrition and wellness, and diabetes. She has decades of experience helping both adult and pediatric patients improve health indicators and manage disease by focusing on education, wellness, nutrition and the delivery of evidence-based medicine.

Jeanne joins WakeMed Bariatric Surgery and Medical Weight Loss after spending years caring for patients with endocrine disorders at Cary Endocrine & Diabetes Center. Previously, Jeanne worked as a certified diabetes educator for both WakeMed’s Pediatric and Adult Diabetes Programs. Jeanne blends her background in nursing, diabetes management, and nutrition to provide both medical and lifestyle expertise to her patients.

Working with patients to manage the daily challenges of chronic disease, Jeanne provides the education and clinical expertise to help people feel their very best. She most recently earned her American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP) Certification in Obesity Management. She holds a master’s degree in public health in nutrition, as well as both master’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing. She earned board certification in advanced diabetes management in 2002. Jeanne has been heavily involved in research throughout her career, where her interests include metabolic syndrome prevalence and type 2 diabetes prevention in children.

When not treating patients, Jeanne enjoys spending time with her husband and trying to keep up with her trainers at Burn Bootcamp. She loves visiting her three children and three grandchildren, who are spread out across the country and she is an expert in flying Southwest.
