Dr. Chlysta is nice. He will give you straight forward answers to your questions. He does the Lap RNY. He is nice to look at also. As of 04/04 he has not hit the 100 Lap RNY mark but he is very knowlegable. He makes sure you have all of the tests needed to insure your body will go thru this. Rose, is wonderful. She helps you with all your questions and returns phone calls right away
Dr. Chlysta is a very nice guy and a great surgeon. He truely cares about all of his patients needs and concerns. He is upfront about all the risk and complications of the surgery. He explains everything in detail at a level you can understand. I would not have trusted anyone else to have done my surgery!!!
His staff(Rose)is excellant. She responds to your calls proptly and she never make you feel like you are bugging her no matter what silly little question you may have.
I have to admit that I was nervous about seeing a surgeon who was relatively new at gastric bypass surgery. And to be honest I went to Dr Chlysta intially because he was the doctor my insurance would approve. Then I met Dr Chlysta and I knew he was the right surgeon for me from the start. He has a wonderful manner. He has a good sense of humor and to me that's important. He just talked to me like a regular person and was very honest about his experience. I was comfortable with him from the start and he did a great job on my surgery. I had no problems and he made it clear that I could call with questions any time. Rose in Dr Chlysta's office is great. She's nice, she's helpful and when I needed an appt scheduled she did it before I left the office and when I've called for any reason, she calls right back.
I can't say anything negative about Dr Chlysta or his staff. If a patient has made the decision to have the surgery and they know it's right for them, I would recommend Dr Chlysta in a heartbeat. Dr Chlysta emphasized that I needed to follow my dietitian's instructions and that if I felt at all "wrong", I should call immediately. Dr Chlysta was very upfront about the risks of having wls. He even asked me to bring at least one family member with me on the last visit prior to surgery so he could explain the risks to them as well. He wanted to know that my family was aware of the risks. He also drew pictures for my family at this visit and right after surgery to show them what he had done and it helped them understand what the surgery was about. I have to say that my family really liked him too. I don't know if you would say he has a structured aftercare program. I have printed instructions and I have to see him again at my 3rd month. I'm not sure after that. That might be my only negative thing. I don't think he has regular support group meetings for his patients. He may do that down the road. If I had to rate him on a scale of 1-10, he gets a 10 in my book. I believe surgical competence is the most important thing, but bedside manner and feeling comfortable with your surgeon is also important. The bottom line is that I went into surgery trusting him completely and it paid off!!
