Van Wagner Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I first met with Dr Wagner in June of 04. Sarah was not in the office that day and Dr.W kept his appointment with me (even though he was the only one in the office). That alone said a lot to me. He kept the appointment with me even though he had no support staff that day. Dr. W did a very thurogh medical and personal history on me. He explained lap-banding's pros & cons and when I didn't think banding was for me, he moved on to work with me on Lap-RNY. Dr. W seems to be very "pro-Lap Band". Even though I am not he showed great professionalism. Dr W seems a little young at first. Even though I was only his second Male-Lap-RNY I felt totally comfortable with his knowlege.

Now, as for Sarah. SHE IS A TRUE ANGEL PLACED ON THIS EARTH TO HELP PEOPLE LIKE ME. She had my insurance accepted, tests scheduled and surgery time arranged inside of 5 weeks. She also got it arranged on the exact day I requested.

Overall, Dr Wagner was thurough, proessional, skilled .... A

Dr. Wagner has been a God send. He also did my wifes WLS 4 months after mine. He is truly concerned and cares about his patients. His skill has changed my life. From what I have heard from others that have had WLS by other surgeons that they see you at 1 week after WLS, then 6 weeks, then at 1 year. He has followed me and my wifes progress closely and this alone has my utmost confidence in this man. I highly recomend him to those considering WLS. Sarah is his office manager and is very knowlegable with dealing with your health insurance.

Dr. Wagner is a very friendly person who gave me his undivided attention and answered all the questions and concerns that I was having.
His staff is also very friendly and treats you as family, and helps with any questions you might have.
My daughter had surgery in Oct. of 2004 and that is when I met him. He was very concerned with my daughter and her recovery and how she progressed. Seeing him in action first hand took my fears away.
I rate him as highest on the scale that I can at this point.

He was warm, professional and caring. Answered questions fully and when I didn't seem to have more, he reviewed info with me that I should know.

04/16/02; I met with Dr. Gaskin today. He is ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. He talked very openly with me and answered all my questions which were a lot. He was very informal yet professional. He seemed very knowledgeable and seemed to care about the final outcomes of his patients. Not just how the surgery would go. I have been approved already through my insurance so now I am just waiting for New Start to call me back with a date. I am soo excited it is finally happening.

11/06/04 - I met with and spoke to my revision surgeon Dr. Van Wagner. Dr. Gaskin does not perform these surgeries anymore so he referred me to Dr. Wagner. Dr. Wagner has been WONDERFUL. His staff Sarah and Lera have been great so far. I am scheduled for the revision surgery tomorrow so we will see how they do ;)

My first impression upon meeting Dr. Wagner was "My God he is so young!". I was expecting someone much older.
During my first office visit, I was impressed by his attention to details. He did a very thorough examination and history review. Which made me feel more comfortable about taking the final step.
His office staff is on the ball. They were able to answer all of my questions, even if that meant calling around to find the answers. Sarah was awesome in that respect.
Aftercare is strongly encouraged and several options are given.
The risks of surgery were not "glossed over" and Dr. Wagner made sure that I understood the risks and benefits so that I could make an informed decision about Lap-Band Surgery.
I was very pleased with the post op care. I had excellent pain control. My incisions are small and I had very little bruising.
I would have to rate Dr. Wagner as a "10" for surgical competence and bedside manner.

I liked Dr. Wagner very much.



His assistant Sarah is great. She goes above and beyond to make sure you don't have any problems with anything.



Dr. Wagner will take all the time you need to answer all your questions.




I feel like he is the best Doctor for me.

Dr. Wagner gave a seminar that I attended. He seems very professional and intelligent. I cannot say enough about his office staff..they are wonderful

Dr. Wagner seems like such a wonderful Dr! I've heard nothing but, good things about him. His office staff is wonderful and very patient and friendly.

Dr. Wagner is great. He really takes the time to explain things and answer any questions you may have. The office staff is really great and helps push the insurance for approval and helps with any other needs you may have.
