My bariatric experience has been good. I had surgery Dec. 2009. The surgery went well and I felt like I received top quality care. I have not reached my goal weight as of yet due to personal reasons, which is dissappointing. I've found that the key to success with the lapband surgery is to remain diligent in regular adjustments and incorporate execise!

I haven't posted in a while, but here is an update - I am 9 months post-lap band surgery and doing great. I am down 105 pounds since my highest weight one year ago!

Dr. Andrei's staff continues to be extremely supportive, responsive, and caring. I'm here for an adjustment today, which I didn't actually need because of my progress, and Dr. Andrei called my progress "record-breaking"! Gotta love a compliment from the doc himself!!

Whenever I have called the office with questions or concerns, I have received prompt responses and am made to feel that I am genuinely cared about. My lap band experience has been a journey...sometimes easy, sometimes challenging, but most important, a positive learning experience for me. I think the most important lesson I have learned is that the lap band is a helpful gadget, but it certainly comes second to making proper, healthy choices. I have learned to change my eating habits for the better, and instead of relying on the band to do all of the work for me, it "kicks in" and reminds me when it needs to. I have only had 2 adjustments so far - one for my initial fill, and one to release the restriction slightly. Right now, I feel that I am at a good point, but I know that if I ever feel the need for additional adjustments, the staff at Dr. Andrei's office will be willing to work with me. It is so important to maintain frequent communication with the office. I look forward to continuing on this journey to a healthy lifestyle.....and continuing to shop for smaller clothes!! :-)

Hello all! This is my first post on this site after surgery. I came in for a follow-up appointment today, and I was asked to set up a profile on this site.

I started my LAP Band journey in November of 2010. I was referred to Dr. Andrei's office by a good friend of mine who had great success with Dr. Andrei and the LAP Band procedure. I went into the process with some doubt, and a ton of questions. I was very impressed after my first consultation with Dr. Andrei's team in November. My first visit to the office took about 3 hours, and I met with several of Dr. Andrei's staff, including Pamela, the nutritionist, and the doctor himself. I left that day still not knowing if the surgery was right for me, but was definitely interested in learning more about it. Over the next several months, I went to all of the nutrition classes, and had all of the medical tests done. I figured - if nothing else, I was getting all of my body systems checked out. As the months progressed, I realized that the surgery was the right move for me. I was tired of being overweight, uncomfortable, and unhappy with myself. It wasn't until a few months into the process that I really started changing my eating habits, as I wanted the post-surgical transition to be as smooth as possible. I was able to drop about 20-30 lbs prior to my surgery date. The nutrition classes were excellent! By attending the classes, I learned so many details about nutrition that had never entered my mind before.

I had the LAP band surgery on April 18, 2011. It went very smoothly, and I didn't experience anything beyond the usual post-surgery discomfort, which wasn't bad at all. I am only one week post-op now, and I've already lost approximately 30 pounds from all of the pre and post-surgery dieting. I should be ready to move onto soft foods very soon, and then after that, back to "normal" foods. That makes me laugh - because I am hoping that my eating habits never are what they were before I started this process.

So far, I have been nothing but pleased with Dr. Andrei's staff. They are organized, meticulous, efficient, and have always answered all of my questions in a timely fashion. In addition, they have dealt 100% with my insurance company, and I have experienced no hassles or inconveniences from my insurance provider. I was appreciative of all of the follow-up calls that I received to check on my condition in the days following surgery. I work most closely with Pamela, the nutritonist. She has always been courteous, warm, engaging, and willing to answer my numerous questions about proper dieting. It's odd - I never cared about nutrition before, now it's something that affects my daily life.

One week post-op, I still have so many unanswered questions. Will I continue to be successful? What will it feel like once my band is filled? Will I be able to enjoy food again? Am I going to have some rough days during this transition? I try to take it one day at a time, and realize that whenever I need support, I have a great staff here to help me. So far, I'm not regretting my decision to have surgery at all. I hope my success continues, and I plan to take full advantage of the excellent support that Dr. Andrei's office is always willing and able to give.

Hoping to keep you all posted as time goes on.....

My experience was wonderful. I've learn how to eat again, and leave certain foods alone. The surgery was not bad and the recovery period was not llong at all.
I have lost a significant amount of weight. It is coming off slow which is ok with me. I rather do it slow then fast.
The staff at Dr. Andrei afre just wonderful. I have never had such caring staff treat me before. The follow up phone calols from Andy after surgery were caring and welcome. The whole staff is just unbelieveable. This is the only place i would go for this type of surgery.

It has been almost 3 years and so much has changed. Because of my healthier life style and weight loss I am happy to say that one year ago I was able to donate a kidney to my husband and save his life.
When we found out that I was a match for the transplant, my first call was to Dr. Andrei. He calmed me and told me that I had been through the tough part of my journey and that because I was healthier now I would be able to donate. He even told me that he would be on call should I need him during the surgery.
If you are ready to make the decision to go have a procedure for weight loss, Dr. Andrei and his office staff is the only way to go !

Dr. Andrei and all of his staff were wonderful throughout my journey. They were supportive while giving me all the educational tips I needed to be successful during this phase. Once I had my surgery they were still there for me and my family giving us the push and extra help as we needed it. I completed my surgery 3 years ago this past December but my journey began 8 months prior to having it. They are always there for me and I have no doubt that they will evr stop being supportive.

All I ever wanted was to be able to get on the ground and play with my grandchildren, even though I didn't have any at the time of my surgery. Dr,. Andrei, in his most professional and caring way helped me to achieve my goal. He is kind, thorough and always available. I am two years out and I truly must say that he helped to save my life. At 120 pounds lighter I now have a future to look forward to. I still get a charge when someone who hasn't seen me in a while walks past me because they did not recognize me. Thanks Dr. Andrei for making each day worth living. I tell everyone I meet about you. You are my hero!!

It was a very lucky day in my life when I met Dr. Andrei. He is the most caring physician I have ever had the pleasure to work with. He guides you and cares for you every step of the way. His patience is unbelievable. His staff is a credit to him. They all, Pam, Minnie, Debbie, Sherri and Shannon are the greatest. They always make themselves available for questions or concerns. Dr. Andrei or his staff called me every day for weeks after the surgery to check up on me. What a great feeling to know that they really care!!!

Any one who is considering this type of surgery should definitly meet with Dr. Andrei and his staff. A kinder more caring group of people you will never find. I am truly blessed!!

I had my original Weight Loss Surgery with Dr. Andrei in 2003. What impressed me most about him was that her required all his pre-surgical patients to attend his support group meetings. I was scared of the surgery, and yet desperate for it. I was 280 lbs, and feeling old at 50. When I walked into this huge ballroom where his support group meeting were, I was shocked to see what must have been hundreds of obese people. I had never seen so many fat people in one room. In the front of the room, were post surgical patients who spoke to the group. All these very thin people. They all looked so happy. One after the other they spoke of their experiences, both good and bad. I felt hope for the first time. There was such a long list of people waiting for the surgery. I had to wait almost a year for my surgery. It was well worth it. Dr. Andrei, I learned was fastidious in the OR, and demanded excellence from his staff. I was in good hands. The entire experience was positive. I was surrounded by friends who supported me all the way. Dr. Andrei has been supportive throughout my journey. I've had ups and downs, but he has always been there to help me find my way back. I am enjoying good health, and renewed success. I would recommend Dr. Andrei in a heartbeat. He is an award winning surgeon, and has been around for a while. I believe he paved the way for all the others. His staff is professional, and his nutritionist is pro-active and helpful.
