My first impression of Dr. Pettine was pretty positive. I liked the fact that he was very up-front. This impression hasn't had a chance to change, as I've only seen him twice.
The office staff is great. They have been very patient and helpful. Also answered all my questions in a timely fashion.
This practice has a stable, structured program: physical and psychological testing prior to surgery, support group available at all points in the journey, aftercare is stressed.
Dr. Pettine explained the risks of the surgery thoroughly. He and the staff had no issues or reluctance to share surgical statistics with me (number of laps, number of complications, etc).
I'd choose a superior surgeon with mediocre interpersonal skills over a mediocre surgeon with great interpersonal skills -- but would rather have a surgeon that excels in both areas!
I met Dr. Pettine on 4/5/02. He was very informative, as was Becky, the nurse, and I was impressed with the honesty and straight-forward attitude. I liked that very much. I think that Dr. Pettine is very knowledgeable, and he actually gave me the worst-case scenario, and I was still able to say that I am ready. Dr. Pettine requires a mental evaluation for every patient, which is ok with me. Aftercare is a very very important thing, and the mental ups and downs will be hard. I think that talking to someone who has had the surgery already is very important.
Dr. Pettine has a very good bedside manner, and he checked on my daily. He is very responsive to questions, and is straight-forward and sincere. I was very impressed with him. Becky, the nurse also came to visit me in the hospital, and remind me of the things that I need to do. She is also very kind and considerate. The staff is very recommended by me. I didn't have a negative experience through the whole thing! It was great!
I was instantly comfortable with Dr. Pettine from the moment I met him. He gave it to me straight, didn't try to sugar coat anything, and told me everything and anything to expect if I was to go ahead with the surgery. He was so easy to get along with. I didn't feel uncomfortable for one second, and that includes going through surgery with him. He did everything he could to make sure I was ready and prepared for everything that was about to change in my life. He came and had a talk with me right before the surgery, and he is one of the first things I remember seeing after waking up. He continued to check up on me repeatedly. I feel very lucky to have a surgeon who cares so much about me. I don't have one negative thing to say about this man. I am only 5 days post op and I feel wonderful. He did a great job and gave me a new life. I would recommend him to everyone :)
got a letter from Northern Colorado Surgical Associates today. They said my paperwork was in the active file and that it would possibly take up to four months to schedule the initial consult with them as they are so busy.I was surprised that they responded so quickly that makes it nice, at least I know that they received all the paperwork and are working on it.Saw the surgeon on the 31st of July and now have a surgery date all set up. Just waiting on insurance approval when we sat and talked to Dr.Pettine He was very up front about everything that was going to take place, my husband and I really appreciated his up front approach and he really gave us his full attention , we felt that he was prepared to sit there for any length of time to make sure that we understood each and every aspect of the surgery.
