I first saw Dr. Clements on a newscast featuring a patient of his. I wrote his name down and called information the next day to get his office number. I set up an appointment after filling out all the paper work and saw him for the first time in Feb. 2001. I liked him immediately and found out after talking with him that he is a nephew of some friends of ours at church. He told me all the risks and benefits and had me write down all the risks and sign my name indicating that I understood. My 2nd visit was in May after sleep apnea studies. I had sugery June 21st and have been doing great. The major problem I had with his office staff was an unwillingness to help file my insurance where they would pay. I have underlying problems that caused the insurance to cover my surgery but in coding my diagnosis they were unwilling to code in my underlying diagnosis as primary and my insurance will not pay for my office visits although they agreed to pay for the surgery. This has me very upset. My experience however may be unique and others may not find this to be true. Dr. Clements though is great and I will put up with inconveniences with the staff in order to see him.
I had my first visit with Dr.Clements in March 2001...First impression..YOUNG...However, as I talked to him , I really liked his manners and how he took the time to really explain everything about the procedure, the complications, etc. He had me schedule two procedures here in Dothan a GTT and a sleep apnea test, and by doing this,I knew he was a thorough doctor..Once my insurance approved me(his staff got right on it), I am scheduled for June 28,2001...Everyone was extremely nice..Well, maybe except for his nurse...She's not the most pleasent, but I've seen worse!!!
The second time I saw him, I was more at ease, and we talked about my questions..He is so funny and he really makes you feel like he cares about you alot. So far, there has been nothing I did not like about him..He really emphasized aftercare..That will be a pain(kidding) since I live 4 hours away, but it is surely worth every trip up there...
He seemed very young but after talking to him I was very impressed with him. He seemed very caring and understanding of what I had gone through to loose weight, and how hard I had tried time after time and failed to keep it off. He took up alot of time with me and made himself very available to any questions and concerns that me or my husband had. He let me know what he would expect of me and what I could expect, like frequent check up trips back to Birmingham. He did address the risks, as well as what would take place during surgery. Overall I would rate him excellent in both his bedside manner and his competence.
My first impression was that he was a kind compassionate man. That impression has not changed. He is always happy and upbeat. His office staff have all been helpful and great except for his nurse. Sometimes I get the feeling that she doesn't like me very much. I can't think of anything that I do not like about Dr. Clements, but I was surprised to find out that I was seeing more of his residents than of him in the hospital. He is a great doctor who cares about your feelings. He absolutely emphasizes aftercare from the time of your first visit. I'm not sure what you would think of as structured, but he insists on regular aftercare visits. He was very srtaight-forward with me about the risks for me particularly because they were greater for me. I had to watch a video about risks, then pass a test proving that I knew the risks and percentages. I would give him an excellent rating. Both his surgical competence and his bedside manner were great. His confidence and smile could make you less afraid and anxious.
i loved him.my husband went with me & he said he was very glad he came because this surgery would effect both of our lives.
the staff was very friendly & helpful.
dr.clements said since he would be doing my surgery, any problems i should contact him only.there was not 1 thing i did not like about him.you have to watch a film telling all about the surgery, what all is included in aftercare(no sweets, ever again, exercise, like walking or bike riding for at least 1 mile.everyday)aftercare lasts for as long as 3 years, depending on your situation, but he stresses he will always be there.aftercare is very important(i.e.how much you can eat, what you can eat, exercise, vitamins, for awhile all pills have to be crushed because of your surgery)
he told me every single risk there is(as with all surgeries, there is risks)& there is very little.i rate every thing great.of course, these are only my uneducated opionions.i have`nt even had my surgery yet!!!
Dr. Clements is a wonderful person very straight to the point. I have only had my first visit with him. His office staff is very welcoming and makes you feel very comfortable. So far there is mothing that i dont like about him. The thing you should know about him is if you have any questions please ask him because he will sure answer them. He emphasized a lot for after care. He does have an aftercareprogram. He address the surgery point blank no if ands or buts. i would just rate him over all just wonderful.
