I have not actually met Dr. Marema, however I have been impressed by how efficient his staff runs his clinic. It is obvious that they have done this many times and is comforting due to the fact that many people have done this.

Dr. Marema has many 'speed bumps' that you have to go over to get to your surgical date. I suppose it's good in a way because it apparently helps to weed out people who are not serious about having this procedure.

My husband was a huge help in getting me to this point and encouraging me to at least attend the required meetings, there were many times when I would cry on the trip down and back from the meetings, because it feels unfair that I have to do this just to be healthy. After speaking with other people in this situation, I realize that I am not the only feeling this way and it helped to straighten up and continue toward the goal. We started the process back in March and my surgery date has now been set for September 20, 2001. I am really excited about it!

I was inpressed with his knowledge about the procedure and his interests in me as an individual. even though his pratices has grown tromendiously sense my procedure when he sees me in the office he still shows interest and support of me as a special individual. i think the staff has been very supportive and if one cannot answer a specific question asked they make sure they find another staff member that can, try to check everything out and get the answer you are looking for don"t second guess anything or listing to others fully that are guessing. the whole staff emphasizes aftercare, and try to make you understand how important it is to stay with the program, even though i heard others speaking about trying things that were not suppose to be and would mention it i would be reminded of the importance of the follow up. i feel that Dr Marmia has an outstanding follow up program and that is very important to me, i am a person that needs to be told what to expect and how to receive it and i feel that his staff is very up front with that information and you yourself has to except it or throw it out, the only thing that really bothered me after my procedure is not seeing or talking to Dr Marmia i had such encouragement from him from the beginning but did not see or talk to him until a month after, that bothered me a great deal at first but i know he is in great demand because he is so open and great, i am glad to see he has added on some great surgerons, i also have grown a great respect for Dr.Cox and feel he is doing a great job on self encouragement i think Dr Marmia made a great choice in him, Dr Marmia is very up front about the risk of the surgrey and has always implied that it is a tool not a deffanent fix on life, you really have to commit yourself to this tool and know how it works and i feel Dr.Marmia does a great job of teaching you how to go about this and his staff continues to teach you the new uses of that tool to keep it working. I would rate Dr Marmia very high on his standards his teaching of the tool and the information he is always adding to his program and updates to his staff. as i stated before i feel Dr Marmia is great on all levels, and again i am gald to see he has added some surgeron staff because i know he has to be getting burnt out on trying to please all his pateints and staff i am very proud of him and his accomplishments because he himself had the courage to encounter this tool and use it let alone learn to help others in there lives to use it, to me he is the greatest surgeon because he is a special person like all of us. thank you for giving me this oppertunity. deb

Have not met my bariatric surgeon yet.
The office staff seems to be organized, friendly and they have a wealth of information. They have a support group
and and an after care program.

I will never be able to express the gratitude and love I feel for Dr. Marema. He not only is a wonderful surgeon but a fabulous friend. The Staff at the Broward Center for Obesity Surgery is the best. The support and love shown by everyone is second to none.

From the very first site and sound of him I knew that Dr. Robert Marema would be the one to help me on my journey. I instantly trusted him and his abilities to help me gain the tools to loose weight for what I am so proud to say will be the LAST time in my life. Since my surgery, my opinion of Dr. Marema has changed but only for the better, my appreciation and admiration of him has increased. In addition, through his careful and skillful hiring practices he has provided me with people who I trust implicitly with my health, and with my feelings. They really go out of the way to make all the patients feel they are truly important. I would like to name them all to give them the credit, but I would hate to miss someone and possibly hurt their feelings. I just think they are the best and each time I have to go to another appointment at any other Dr. Office I am reminded again how well Dr. Marema has created his team. Obviously I could go on but suffice to say that you will be cared for in Dr. Marema office whether it be by him, or the wonderful Dr. Cox, or any of the fine, funny and full of life nurses and staff.
Dr. Marema's program really emphasizes the aftercare and maintenance of your health. He is a totally full service Dr., he really believes in the idea of patients changing their habits early on and getting accustom to eating 3 meals a day, incorporating exercise along with a healthy attitude about food, exercise and life in general.
From the very first informational meeting about the surgery and Dr. Marema’s program, he and the rest of the staff have been thoroughly up front about the risks involved with the surgery. All of his patients have been through the information meeting he holds where he describes the surgery and after care. In addition we all participate in a class run by his surgical Nurse Debbie Cox. Debbie goes through in extreme detail the process of the night before surgery, pre-op, surgery (what they will be doing while we are out), recovery, and the 4-5 day stay at the hospital, all the way up to the first post-op visit to remove the G-tube. The class is honest and while it does not scare you it does tell you truthfully about the surgery and necessary after care; the possible problems, and in detail explains the patients responsibilities in the process.
Overall, I would say that there are none better than those professionals who work on Dr. Marema’s Team. Each of them is an important part of why this program is so great. Their abilities are exceptional and I can say for a fact that all of the team gives new meaning to GREAT Bedside manner.

Haven't met Dr. Marema as yet. I went to an informational meeting in Ft. Lauderdale on Tuesday and was very impressed. One thing that impresses me about Dr. Marema, is that his program covers all bases. After the surgery you don't have to scramble for information, it's there for the taking.
I have my appointment with the nurse on Aug.20.

Dr Marema's program was very comprehinsive. I couldnt believe what all I had to attend/learn to get to my surgery date. But I am so glad for it! I felt very educated and secure in my decision to have WLS. Originally, Dr Marema is just a face you see at seminars. But after meeting with him for my preop appt I discovered that he is completely willing to make sure you have all your questions answered. I met with him again in the holding area prior to surgery and I felt very confident that I would be fine. Lastly I saw him post op a few times and now he treats you like an old friend. He is great and I would recommend him to my own Mother if she wasnt so damn healthy! I am sure I will see him in the future but thats my opinion so far.
