My impression of Dr. Georgen is positive and his office staff is also nice each time I speak with them. They emphasize pre and post op care which I'm happy about and addressed all of the risks that have to do with surgery. I feel I'm informed and educated with the help of them. rnThe day before my surgery and since, Dr. Georgen has been super positive and upbeat with me.. making me feel comfortable the whole time I get to see him. I would say all my q's were answered before I saw him, but he was willing to go over everything that would happen, possibly happen and etc... I've been extremely pleased.

Dr. Georgen is a real pro. Very capable and I trusted him. As far as time, he is in and out of our appoints very quickly. He seems rushed for time and I do not feel that we have connected as Dr. & patient. That aside, he did a fine job.

Truthful, and very incouraging.

My first impression of Dr. Georgen was that he was caring, very informative, wanting to help me change my life for the better. My impression of him changed for the better over time. His office staff is very nice and helpful. Especially Betsy, she is great, so nice and caring. Makes you feel very comfortable. Dr. Georgen and his staff emphasize aftercare so much, it is a very important part of the process. They have a very structured aftercare program. It is very helpful. Dr. Georgen addressed all the risks of the surgery with me, and made sure I understood them. I would rate Dr. Georgen very highly overall. Both Surgical competence and bedside manner are great. It is nice to have a Dr. that can make you feel comfortable as well as having surgical competence.

What was your first impression of him/her?
*Seems to be very much on the ball. This Dr is also the lead trauma surgeon at the regional hospital where my WLS will be taking place.

How did your impression change over time?
*Hasn't changed yet. Knock on wood.

How would you describe his/her office staff?
*For the most part, am very pleased. There was a dropped ball or two that resulted in a few delays, but beyond that, they've all been pleasent to deal with.

What did you like least about him/her?
*Give me a while, I'm sure I can come up with a dislike eventually. No, really, he's my Dr, if I didn't like him, I wouldn't trust him with my guts in his hands...

What should future patients know about him/her?
*Be your own advocate. Keep notes. Follow up. Don't assume.

How much does he/she emphasize aftercare?
*Extreme... Although, I know about 7 people who've gone thru the same program, and THEY don't follow the guidelines... So, I sincerely wonder about follow up... Is it just that easy to lie, or are they not being held accountable???

Does he/she have a structured aftercare program?
*Yes. A contract, heh...

How did he/she address the risks of surgery?
*Opened all dialog with the statement. "you could die"... Reiterated all risks at all visits.

How would you rate him/her overall?
*So far so good. Will update as post-op...

Which is better, surgical competence, bedside
manner, or both great?
*Honestly, I could care less about bedside manner. I want surgical competence. But, on a scale of 1-10: Surgical Comp N/A yet (based on research, though he's got to be a strong 9+), Bedside manner 6. Will update once he sees me in a bed.

Dr. Georgen is a very wonderful person. He has many patients and is very consciencious person. He is caring, but is also very busy. Get his attention and tell him that you want him to spend some time listening to your questions, and he will.(but you have to let him know that) His program is very good. He handled an extremely delicate operation for me. I could not have the bypass surgery. He had to totally reconstruct my stomach resulting from a complication that I had from gastroplasty (stapling) surgery in 1982 in Chicago. I'm told that I should be happy to be alive. He was wonderful for me! Dr. Brennan assisted him with my surgery. He was also great. They both expressed that they were very worried about me. They are both very compitent surgeons, (I do not think too much of the Barix Clinic in Belvidere,IL.I had a very bad personal experience there.) Others may not agree.

Dr. Georgen is an amazing doctor. I had the pleasure of having him and Dr. Wasco, his partner, do open gastric bypass surgery on me. My impression of both of them is 110% satisfaction!!!! They are two doctors that care about their patients and are honest and upfront with you on every aspect of the process.
The staff is wonderful as well. It is almost like a little world of "perfect!" The coordinator, Betsy, is one person that I will never forget. She was there thru it all. The nurses and administration were amazing as well. I felt very comfortable at all times.
I would strongly urge future patients to chose Dr. Georgen and Dr. Wasco as their doctors to do this procedure. Not only are they comforting and kind they are also experts, in my mind, on this surgery.
I would rate Dr. Georgen and Dr. Wasco way off the charts. There is no amount of words I can say to show my appretation for the life change they have given me.

Dr. Georgen was a very friendly man. He was very knowledgeable about the differences in procedures and what the benefits and risks might be. His office staff was helpful although I have yet to be brought in for an appointment at my scheduled time. His office is a very busy place. Dr. Georgen is very supportive of the entire package to include nutrition, excercise, and group discussion sessions to help post op patients be successful. The program is very structured. Overall I was very happy with the process and Dr. Georgen had both a good bedside manner and surgical competence putting me at ease.

I found Dr. Georgen to be very knowledgable. I was impressed with the fact that he cared about me and wanted to help. My only complaint would be that he is very fast and didn't spend a lot of time listening...I had to have the questions written down and ready to go or I wouldn't have had the time to ask.

My first impression of Dr. Georgen was he was very nice and very caring.

My impression of him is even better now.

The office staff has always been very nice and helpful to me.

The thing I like least about him is that he is usually late, but I guess I expect that with such a good surgeon.

The after care program they have sounds wonderful, and him and his staff totally urge you to go through it.

He anwsered all of my questions and concerns and would rate him as the best doctor I have ever had. ( I have had a lot.) Both his surgical skills and bedside manner are awesome!!
