Ralph Crum Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.

Dr Crum was recomended to me by my primary care Dr. Fred Kaplan. I found Dr Crum to be compassionate to my problem but also up front and no nonsense he could help me but I had to be committed to helping myself.

Dr Crum on your office visits will take all the time you need to answer your questions and concerns. You can also hear him speak at the support groups the 1st wednesday of every month at Norwalk hospital meetings start at 6 he ask that post op attend this meeting also to help answer questions. The 3rd Wednesday is for post op. Dr. Crum is at every meeting and is avaible for questions.

His office staff is wonderful and always willing to help with questions. Dr. Crum is usually not available to speak to over the phone but His staff relays questions and gets right back to you. If it is a real medical emergency Dr. Crum has your back and will respond as soon as necessary.

Once you are a paitent of Dr. Crum you will always be his paitent he doesn't just say we I did the surgury now its up to you he provides you with a suport system and follows you thru your process. He is not only a Dr. but a counsler.

He can be gruff and not say what you want to hear but he does understand what your life has been like. He was not very nice to my family members and was a short with them when they asked questions. He can also be a bit sarcastic. But all in I would not want any other surgeon to touch me or anyone else in my family. I have recommend Dr. Crum to others if that is not saying I have full conidence in him then there is nothing left to say.

My first impression of Dr.Crum was how this one person has so much kindness and understanding for so many people and how he takes pride in all the positive results of everyone of his patients.

My first impression of Dr. Crum, was that he was very confident in his abilities to perform the RNY with minimal complications. He is very detail oriented and sometimes gives you more info than you ask for, but that can be a good thing. He's an easy guy to talk with and he is very knowledgeable about post-surgery developments. His staff is extremely accomadating, although they are sometimes overwhelmed with the minutia of running an office (buried faxes, etc.) Dr. Crum establishes a strong aftercare program prior to release from the hospital. He encourages his patients to attend bariatric surgery support groups held 2x a month. These seminars address the benefits as well as the risks of surgery. They also include guest speakers with topics related to surgical recovery. Overall, Dr. Crum and his staff have provided me with outstanding care. His surgical skill, bedside manner and aftercare are at a level miles above my expectations.

I found Dr. Crum to be very sensitive to my needs and a very warm, caring individual. I also found him to be very self assured. He knows he's a good surgeon and he makes you feel very confident about how well you are going to do during and after the surgery. He gave me a whole packet of useful information before the surgery and I will be meeting with him this week for an update. He really didn't feel that there were going to be any risks with the surgery.I would rate him very high.

i absolutly love my doctor I have been a patient of his for @ 5 years he has preformed lumpectomy's on me, my appendix etc. I trust him and he also easy on the eyes (ladies you know what I mean)His secretary Jeanette is very knowledgeable and sweet. and his other nurse Diane is compassionate and sweet as well. The only thing I could think of that some people might no like about him is he is brutally honest (I like that in a Doctor, tell it straight and like it is)some people don't like that and consider it rude) I know just from working in a Dr's office. He stresses how important after care and hosts a support group out of Norwalk Hospital twice a month and urges patients to come pre-op and post-op. He is incredible thorough at his consultation and appt's. I rate him at a 9 on a scale 1-10 (hey nobody'e perfect)And you ask which is better surgical competence or bedside manner? Being a patient, both are equally important however, I totally believe that surgical competence is more important, because what good does a terribly sweet Dr do for you if he he does not have what it takes to complete the surgery with no complications and to your benefit. Dr. Crum is a very confident, honest and easy to talk to. I feel very comfortable that he will be performing my surgery. Jeanette at the office is great and very informative. She really pulled through for me to move my date up for surgery.

I think very highly of Dr. Crum. He spent a lot of time with me and explained the procedure. I felt comfortable asking him questions and have complete faith that he will do a great job on my surgery. I think he has a great personality along with his professionalism.

I was very impressed with Dr. Crum. Jeanette, his office assistant was so nice and I got all of my questions answered without having to even ask most of them. He is way into aftercare and claims that people fail when after care stops. Sounds good to me. I will update post surgery on the rest of my experience with Dr. Crum.

I am quite certain that I am sure of 2 things. One is that I am doing the right thing and #2 is that I have without a doubt chosen the right surgeon. Each time I see him I feel more and more confident and after my preop meeting with him I would never go to anyone else. I feel that this man genuinely cares about what he is doing.

Dr Crum is the best!!! We met for the first time on Nov. 5th. He had me laughing the whole time, but at the same time was extremely thorough. He answered all of my questions and covered every aspect of the pre-op and post-op procedure.

Jeanette is his secretary and she is very nice also. You can call her anytime and she is patient.

I am very confident that Dr. Crum is the perfect surgeon for me. I feel completely comfortable with him and know that he will do a great job!!
