My first impression of Dr Rantis was that he was a caring person. That has not changed in the months that I have known him. His office staff is polite and courteous, and they were quite helpful. Future patients should know that if any problems arise post-op that he will see that you get the best care. Dr Rantis has an aftercare program that patients are strongly advised to participate in. He advises patients of all the risks involved in the surgery. I would rate him as very good. He is competent as a surgeon and his bedside manner is also very good. I did not haave any negative instances during my hospitalizations. (Ihad to be readmitted after my lap gastric by-pass because I was dehydrated and a pinched nerve in my neck.)
I met Dr. Rantis for the first time on 9/30/02. I liked him very much. I was very nervous, but he made me feel very comfortable and at ease. He took the time to thouroughly explain the procedure and risks involved with the Lap RNY. I don't have a surgery date yet, but I think I will be in good hands.
My first impression of Dr. Rantis was very positive. I was sitting in the exam room with my wife, and was feeling very nervous. Dr. Rantis came in about 15 minutes later, and apologized for being late! I have never had any physician ever apologize for being late. Dr. Rantis was very thourough and explained everything in great detail. He really helped my wife understand what I was considering and what the risks were of surgery.
Post-op Dr. Rantis and his team are just great. They are thorough, professional, and really take the time to explain what is going on with you and your body. Nothing but praise for Dr. Rantis and his team!
Boy was I nervous when Dr. Rantis walked in to the room, but within 2.2 seconds it was all gone. He is a GREAT guy. He made me feel so welcome and even cracked a couple of jokes! (I LOVE to laugh!) Then it came down to the real deal. Dr. Rantis told it how it is and made sure I understood everything along the way. He said I was a canidate for LAP RNY. All staff and the folks from Weight For Life have been wonderful! I am waiting to hear when the big day will be. One thing is for sure, Dr. Rantis left me with a WONDERFUL first impression "10"!
My first impression of Dr. Rantis was good. But I was skeptical.
Overtime my impression changed for the better because he was so helpful with any question that I had. I faxed him a list of about 10 questions that I forgot to ask on my initial consult and he called me at work and asked if I had time to go over my questions with him. He was wonderful!
I only met one of his staff members (I can't recall her name) but she was nice.
I haven't found anything about him that I haven't liked yet.
He is very honest, but he has a great "bed-side" manner.
He, along with the Weight for Life program, does have an ongoing aftercare program at the hospital!
He addressed the risks of surgery very graphically but as honestly as he possibly could. And that's how I prefer it.
I guess if I had to give him a number on a scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being the best, being that I am pre-op and don't know how everything is going to turn out, I would have to say a 7. Hopefully that rating will increase, as my weight decreases.
Both are very important! I think that it goes hand in hand!
Dr Rantis's office people are very polite, personable and friendly.
I was really intemidated by him at first. He's at least 6 foot tall and I am 5'2".
He was very informative, matter of fact and full of cut and dry statistics. I was a little apprehensive until I met him again in the operating room at Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove. I asked him at 8am if he got plenty of sleep and was he in a good mood. He laughed right along with me and the rest of the OR staff, who I might add are the best guys on earth. I have my first post op visit on the 2nd of May, 02.
So far the only real problem I've had new post op, was painful GAS, and finding medications I had taken pre op in liquid form. I am diagnosed with Schizoaffective Disorder but am stable pre op.
Although I felt Dr Rantis was just a little dry in his office, he showed himself to be a caring and great man at the hospital. So,
based on no post op problems, and not treating me as if I were Mad, I would have to say that he is all around great Doc, and I recomend him highly.
