Nicholas Bertha Bariatric Surgeon D.O., F.A.C.S.

My PCP and Gyno recommended Dr Bertha. Both he and his associate, Dr Abkin have performed thousands of bypass and band surgeries. I feel safe in his care.

I have to change surgeons which is not a complete hardship as Dr Bertha was reccomended by the head of the Department of surgery where I work. Will post again after I see hime Oct 17th. I felt confident having him do surgery on me. I would use his practice again, though once he did my surgery, I was always following up with other people in his practice. During my year of illness, this was not helpful- since everyone came up with \"text book\" answers as to what was wrong with me (and I could have found those same answers on the internet) -Two doctors later (still no Bertha) Dr. Popkova saw me- (she's no longer with his practice) and I feel, saved my life. She took time trying to figure out what was wrong with me - even giving me her cell phone number for when I'd have dry heaving episodes so she could hear what was actually going on. Since my revision, since Popkova is no longer with them- I now just see Dr Bertha when I have issues, and I like him, he's attentive. It's important to be your own advocate sometimes- so make sure you are getting answers from the surgeon you trust.

My surgeon is th best in the state of New Jersey. My husband had surgery first and I researched all the surgeons available in NJ and NY and Dr. Bertha's name just came popping up. I reviewed his Cv and after attending his seminar my husband knew he was the surgeon for him. He answered all of our questions, was very up front no sweet picture which we loved just the truth and facts and he spent a lot of time with us. We never felt like he was rushing us at any point. Everyone in his office is wonderful and professional and they go above and beyond the call of duty. Since then I have had surgery and 6 of my very good friends have also had surgery with him. My husband and I carry his business cards everywhere we go and tell people who ask how wonderful he is.

I LOVE Dr. Bertha- he's awesome. He has an excellent rapport with his patients and a wonderful bedside manner. I would highly recommend Dr. Bertha to anyone in the NJ area who is considering having surgery

Dr. Bertha and his staff are an exceptional group and work with you as a patient to understand everything that is involved in Lap Band Surgery. Dr. Bertha has great bed side manner, which was very important to me. Dr. Bertha has done so many of these surgeries and every question I had he answered with such ease. I could not have been in better hands. I would HIGHLY recommend him for your surgeon.

Dr. Bertha is the best. He is honest, caring and really takes the time to get to know you. He spends the time to explain things to you and your family. I had some complications with wound infections that did not heal for weeks and he was there to answer my questions and reassure me. His bedside manner is excellent and his office staff is helpful and courteous. I would reccomend him to anyone.
