Nicholas Bertha Bariatric Surgeon D.O., F.A.C.S.

I was scheduled for 11/15/10 with Dr.Bertha, had done all of the prereqs that he required, and was approved by my insurance, United HealthCare, but MY SURGERY WAS CANCELLED BY Dr. Betha on 11/1/10 at 4:30pm.

No notice, no warning. The surgical team even called me on 11/1 to ask about my blood work!

Dr.Bertha was cold and uncaring on 11/3 in person. TOO BAD THEY DON'T PAY ME ENOUGH! State insurance board tied his hands about giving me the slightest inkling that it wouldn't happen. Blamed it all on everyone else but himself! Said he felt sorry for himself and his staff that they had to cope with anger of patients that he cancels. Did it in front of the pre-surgery class as a "warning" to them about the ills of insurance companies! Did not care what I would do, or offer any help. I left the conference room in tears.

Looking for a caring, competent surgeon with a support system that takes UHC.

I'd like to thank Dr Bertha and his staff for helping to get me ready for my band surgery! When I sat in my seminar I really didn't think it would happen, but surprisingly my insurance did not have so many hoops and I was in surgery within 2 months. It's been a great experience... I'm thrilled with my journey and just saw Dr Bertha for my 3 month check up... down 35 lbs!

I'm ready for my first fill... going to the Banding Center of America, which is in same building as Dr. Bertha's Office. This is so convienient and you don't have to deal with the crowds, confusion, and parking issues as the hospitals have. he said I'll be in and out of there within a half hour!

I want to thank Dr. Bertha for taking the time to answer all my families questions when we attended his seminar. I have been thinking about having the surgery for some time now. When I heard Dr. Bertha talk about the surgery I knew I had the right doctor. He is very knowledgeable and seems to really care about people. I know he is the right Surgeon for me. My parent's came to the seminar and they too feel I have made the right decision. I look forward to going ahead with my surgery as soon as possible. Thank you Dr. Bertha!

I just want to Thank Dr Bertha.... Not only has his surgery given me back the energy to get out there and go fishing... which I love. But he talks a great fish story as well and that makes him a great guy in my book! I am keeping to my diet and am ammazed at how well it works and with screen here I'm so happy that i can get out there and toss the rod in and enjoy time Chillin! Thank You Dr. Bertha and your whole team!

Great experience both before and after surgery.

It's been an a great experience.... and I'm happy to have my "NU" LIFE. Thank You Dr. Bertha! Everyone in the office was so nice and Helpful. Dr. Bertha takes the time to really listen to me... he answered every question I had. He really does care about us!

I've been good about sticking to the rules and I attend the support group meeting and do his new Online Support Group. Both help to keep me focused and I'm expecting awesome results! I'm half way to my "Nu" Goal!

I want to Thank Dr. Bertha and everyone at Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeons for helping me to get HEALTHY! When I first met Dr. Bertha I wasn't sure if this was really going to help me. I've done every diet you could think of.

But it makes a difference at their seminars when you get to speak to other patients who have lived the same things that we have and have done the surgery and our SUCCESSFUL!

I had the Gastric Bypass one month ago and I'm already down 34 pounds! I'm thrilled and can't wait to start coming off some of my medicines. This journey has only begun for me and i'm looking forward to many more good things to happen!

Thank you Dr. Bertha! I'm so excited I saw him yesterday and I now have my Surgery Date scheduled. I can't believe it's finally happening. I got injured last fall and need a Knee Replacement and haven't been able to do so due to my weight.

Thank god For Dr. Bertha and his office staff. Once I found them they took over and did got me approved for Gastric Bypass so I can loose the weight I need to so I can get my knee replaced! I've been in agony and now I see the light at the end of the tunnel. They are so helpful and understanding! Thank you SO MUCH!

Overall rating is 9 out of 10rnVery open and will listen to you. Office is always busy but helpful and friendly. Future patients should arrive on time in order to see doctor at appointed time, if not will have to wait a while. Insurance staff was awesome and a big help with getting my approval for the RNY. Aftercare is very structured and both his surgical competence and bedside manner were great. I cannot say enough good things about him. I highly recommend him to others.

Dr. Bertha is a great doctor. He is easy to talk to and he'll answer all your questions no matter how many times you ask. The office staff are very friendly and heplfull.
