I am so happy ... I had surgery 3 months ago and it has been a great Journey so far! Thank You Doctor Bertha and to his office staff for assisting me to get my paperwork in line so that I was able to move ehead so quick! I know Insurance is tough... but it helps to have a doctor's group who will sit and help the patient to get all the ducks in a row. Dr Bertha is a great guy... he is a skilled surgeon and understands people and their feelings. I appreciate the time he took with me to answer all my questions. I guess the ball is in my court at this point to Eat Right... but He said Go to Support Groups where their will be other patients there to help you along. So he hasn't steered me wrong yet... so I will go to support in his office next week! Thanks Again to Dr Bertha and the ALSOM staff!

I have known from past experience that Dr. Bertha is a great surgeon. I was very happy to find that he also has a great bedside manner. He is open to any questions and easy to talk to. His office is always busy but very helpful. I am three weeks post-op and feel like I am regaining control of my life! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the minute I saw Dr. Bertha at the Weight Loss seminar, he had a calming effect on me. He was very patient with all the questions that my family had, and there were many. I found him to be very knowledgeable and informative throughout the whole process. I would highly recommend him to anyone interested in bariatric surgery.
As for his staff, they are on par with other offices. I had a particularly hard time getting my insurance company to pay for my procedure, after it had been pre-certified, and Sam Montanez (billing/insurance specialist) at Dr. Bertha's office did everything and anything to get the claim paid. I really appreciated all the effort he exerted on my behalf. He could have easily told me to handle it on my own.
Pat Cameron, who schedules the banding adustments is also very helpul and professional. The Banding Centers of America, located right across the hall from Dr. Bertha's office, is a very convenient way to get "a fill". The staff there is very comforting to all patients, whether "first-timers" or "repeat customers".
Overall, the experience was relatively stress-free and I'm grateful to Dr. Bertha for his kindness.

I had a Lap Band installed by Dr. Bertha in November of 2007. I have had excellent results with no side effects. Dr. Bertha was professional, but also friendly, helpful, and understanding. His office staff was always courteous and helpful. They helped work with the insurance company to make sure I would be covered. Aftercare importance was also emphasized. My husband accompanied me on the meetings that had to be attended before the surgery; and his questions and concerns were answered.

I attended Dr. Bertha's seminar and was very happy to hear all about his program. I have researched online for a full service program and it appears that Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeons is the Program for me. Dr Bertha took the time to explain the pros and cons of each of the procedures he offers. I feel very comfortable with his ability as a surgeon and am very eager to get signed up for my surgery.

Thank you Dr. Bertha for helping to educate me on the different procedures. I look forward to our office consult so I can get the ball rolling on my surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Bertha was he is very knowledgeable about the surgery. His seminar was very informative and by time I left there all my questions had been answered by him and his office staff about what else I would need to do. The staff helped me to jump through all the Insurance Hoops and before I knew it I was scheduled. Thanks to Dr. Bertha and his staff for helping me to start this awesome journey... Dr Bertha is an awesome guy. He did my gastric band surgery and it's been a wonderful journey. I love that I can go to the Banding Center across the hall for adjustments with him. It's so quick and convienient!

Dr Bertha came to our December Support Group as well. It's so nice of them to stay involved with us even after the surgeries are done. Thank you for caring! You've made me a whole new person....a much smaller one!

I just want to thank Dr. Bertha and his group for a wonderful journey! He is a very kind and caring person.. and it doesn't just stop the day of surgery. His office has been there with answers to any questions that have come up and they encourage their patients to stay focused by attending support groups. We all hit a plataue here or there and they are right... attending support groups allow us to speak to others patients who are on the same journey and they can share info with us that worked for them. There is a wealth of information and knowledge available. I was impressed that the doctors took time out of their busy schedules to stop into the group and see how we were doing. Thank you Dr. Bertha, Dr. Abkin and Dr. Iannace and all the staff at Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeons!
