Mustafa Hares Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Hares is a very kind, gentle man. He and his staff know their stuff and are very thorough and detail conscious. He is very adamant about the importance of aftercare and the patient's cooperation in it, thus providing his own aftercare program. All issues and concerns were completely covered prior to surgery.

I met Dr. Hares for the first time today, 01/05/06. I was totally impressed. Dr. Hares is a caring, knowledgeable man. He looks in your eyes and talks to you, instead of at you. He has a vast amount of experience and is very up-to-date in his surgical skills. He told me about modern techniques that minimize the risk of complications. His confident manner made me feel completely safe in his hands. In my opinion, his surgical competence and bedside manner are both amazing. I feel blessed to have him as my surgeon. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone.

There is an excellent, structured aftercare program through Bloomfield Bariatrics. This is mandatory. There are two wonderful, caring ladies who work in the office and treat you like family. They are busy but very happy to answer questions and have never made me feel like an inconvenience. I am confident that my aftercare will be well worth its cost.

Overall, I would rate Dr. Hares and the staff of Bloomfield Bariatrics a perfect 10 on a scale of 1 to 10.

These are my personal impressions of my personal experience and I am making no statements about what other people may experience.

Dr. Hares is very nice and informative in explaining the surgery and answering related questions. The office staff is great and the follow up aftercare is something that has been very valuable to me. Jackie and Carol are wonderful people with big hearts and knows when guidance is needed. Aftercare is strongly emphasized with following your strict meal plan, taking your vitamins, and drinking your water. All at the Bloomfield Hills Bariatric Clinic and Beyond Change are very thorough in explaining the surgery and risks, aftercare that is needed, and attending the support groups. All have great beside manners and very competent in what they do.

I first met Dr. Hares yesterday 11-4-04 and thought he was a very intelligent man, I was very comfortable with him, he really seemed to know what he was doing, and that was very soothing to my thought. Jackie and Carol are also very kind and generous.

The first meeting that I had with Dr Hares was very informative. He answered all of the questions that I and my husband had. Dr Hares was my fourth appointment on the research path to the Bariatric surgery. The second I walked into the office, I knew that this Dr is the one.
The only thing that I can say about the office staff is that I love them. I don't know how I would of survived without Jackey and Carol. They offered me the support 24/7. This was very important right after the surgery because you don't know what is right and what is not.
I would recommend this office to anybody who considers this path. Everybody that I meat now at the office or at the support meetings I feel that is part of this family.

I could never put into words how I feel about Dr. Hares. He is the nicest, most wonderful, most caring doctor. I have nothing but good things to say about him and his staff. If I had it to do all over again there is no doubt he would be the one to do it for me.

I have had a less than optimal experience with another Bariatric Surgical group doing a completely different procedure in the state of Michigan prior to meeting Dr. Hares. It is not often that you get to meet a person like Dr. Hares. He is mild-mannered, soft-spoken, confident, and considers his patients members of an extended family. After my consultation and initial exam, Dr. Hares and Jackie Smiertka, R.N. have gone over throroughly what is done during the procedure, what is NOT done, what is to be expected, the risks, and are very active in the mandatory aftercare. Nutrition, exercise, and a plan for reaching the goal weight are all outlined, as is the monitoring of vitamins and minerals and progress up to reaching your goal weight and maintaining it beyond. Carol Albrough is very supportive and an ace at her profession.
Dr. Hares is modest, and has no clue of his contribution to humanity. On Friday, March 19, 2004, Dr. Hares will perform the surgery that will save my life. And I am witness that he has saved many others.
Dr. Hares, his staff and associates did not adopt a bedside manner, they are truly warm and genuine people to begin with, and radiate through their patients successes.
This group is simply the best!

My first impression of Dr. Hares was that he was very knowledgable and very nice. He was willing to answer any question that I had and he took the time to make sure I understood. Over time I have realized that Dr. Hares is the most genuine man and he really cares about his patients. His office staff is very good. At first I thought that they were a bit abrupt on the phone, but after I was at their office, I understood that it was because they were so busy. Jackie the nurse is wonderful, after surgery she called me numerous times at home to make sure I was ok. She even called from out of town. She is always available if you need a question answered. She runs the aftercare program. This is a required group support that lasts for at least two years. Dr. Hares makes sure that you know all of the surgical risks before you have your surgery. If I had to rate Dr. Hares I would give him an A+++++++++++. He was absolutely wonderful. He kept me so comfortable in the hospital that I never had a bit of pain. When I came home I still had no pain. I actually was questioning the surgery because from what everyone told me I should of been having some pain. All I had was a bit of discomfort that was very very tolerable. Dr. Hares' surgical competence is remarkable. He knows that every case is a new experience and handles each one individually. His bedside manner is good, he is always smiling. I do not think that I have ever seen him not smiling. He is the most amazing genuine man I have ever met. I would recommend him to anyone.
