When I first met her I thought she was professional, smart, and caring. Now I am only 12 days out of surgery, but I look forward to more visits with Dr. Lee. she is wonderful. I met with her twice before my actual surgery and trusted her with my life. After surgery I didn't even want to leave the hospital because I wanted to see her and her staff more. She had a student with her the whole time and he was caring and wonderful as well as the others on her team.If I had to do it again.... I would and with no other surgeon but her. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL.
The only downside was that I didnt really care for the nurses in GWU hopital which is the hopital she uses.
I arrived on time and did not have to wait long. My husband drove me into DC since I don't know Georgetown very well. I was nervous and self consience. Dr. Lee's staff was friendly, professional and they helped me feel comfortable.
Dr. Lee is knowledgable. She willing to answer any and all of my questions so I would be well informed.
Ongelic, her asst., was very paitent with me and helped termendously with the insurance company. She even worked out a surgery date with me after I had to reschedule 3x's.
Dr. Lee is quite and reserved. I believe overall she is a terrfic MD. I truat all will be fine. I am in God's hands, no better place to be.
Post-op**************************
Since Dr. Lee is the staff gastro-surgeon, she is followed around by interns and so on. I was warned and was asked the same questions frequently, but that was cool. Kinda felt like a class project.
My first impression of Dr.Lee was that she was a very professional, yet busy woman. She explained to me that they do not offer RNY lap, and why (which initially I was disappointed), but after explaining I understood and agreed. The office staff was really cool and they treated me very well, but I was irritated that Dr. Lee kept getting paged and people kept knocking on the door to interrupt. But this was OK compared to the fact that the surgeons office staff who I started to go to was unprofessional, lazy, and just plain ole GHETTO, so I will take a few interruptions. She addressed risks, aftercare, and even gave numbers of people that I could call that she performed the surgery on. I was also glad that she was a associate professor of surgery, and also was a trauma surgeon, so she would be prepared just in case.
I met with Dr. Lee for my consultation and found her to be very thorough and caring. She went through the different types of surgery and explained the one that she does (RNY) and why she chooses to do this type of surgery versus other types. She answered all the questions that my husband and I asked and made sure that we understood her responses. She explained all different types of tests she does for leaks before you ever come out of surgery. I feel very confident in Dr. Lee's ability. Her staff seems equally impressive. When I called to make my appointment I had asked her assistant Ongelic if there was any paperwork that she could send me before my consulation. She sent me out a packet that included information on the surgery itself as well as things the surgeons office would need from me before they could turn the paperwork in to the insurance company such as a psych evaluation. I had all of this done before the consultation with the surgeon. The only thing that I had to wait on was the paperwork from the psych evaluation which was faxed to the surgeon's office yesterday. Ongelic will be turning my paperwork into the insurance company today.
I liked Dr. Lee when I met her. She took time and explained the pros and cons of the varous different procedures and why she does the one she does. She thoroughly explained the complications associated with the surgery and was very blunt about the effectiveness of the surgery. I was very comfortable with her.
One of the things to remember that their practise is associated with George Washington University Hospital which is a teaching hospital. You may be examed by a student doc first before meeting her. <G>
The thing I liked least about the initial consult - parking sucked.
Dr. Lee was wonderful, she explained everything in a 2 hour consultation and a video. She answered all my questions, explained the procedure in detail.
Her assistant Onjelic returned all my phone calls. And to make it even better right befors my surgery, I went back to see her and I was able to asked any questions regarding things I wan unclear about.
I ask about fatalities, and she was honest and open with me. She is an excellent doctor... I have no complaints as of yet. If there were things I needed faxed I got them, letters, doctor's notes, whatever they were available to me.
As for the risk all the surgery she explained them all... if I have any right before the surgery she told me to ask... I have pretty comfortable about life in Dr. Lee's hands. On a scale of 1-10, she's a 20.
All the above makes an excellent doctor, Surgical competence, and bedside manner.
